Chapter 55 Unethical Matters

Chapter 55 Unethical Matters

For some reason, Xiao Di has gained a lot of weight recently.

My belly is always round and full from eating.

I strongly suspect that it might have been eating random things outside.

After all, I feed it a moderate amount every day, so that its belly doesn't get too big.

They even went to the henhouse to check the number of chickens and suspected that it had stolen and eaten their own family members.

But the number of chickens was just right, which made me even more puzzled.

Just now, Xiaodi crawled to my feet and acted cute.

I patted its head, and it rolled over on the ground, turning its belly towards me.

Then I saw eight neatly arranged belly buttons—so obvious.

The button is a bit too big, which made me wonder about other things.

So I carefully examined Xiaodi's belly and finally concluded that she was pregnant.

I was heartbroken and pointed at the little melon with trembling hands.

With an expression reminiscent of Er Kang, he said to it, "Little melon, this is your own sister!"

I can't understand it, I can't accept it, I don't want to face it.

How could this be? How could this be?

I spent the whole afternoon brooding over this, but I still had to accept the fact.

That's right, it's probably because spring has arrived and flowers are blooming. After a long winter, the little ground squash has finally ushered in its own spring.

After doing some things that violated social norms, they also ushered in new life.

Although it may be unacceptable to the world.

However, I am all alone in this remote mountain area, where there are no conventional ethics. My parents are enlightened, and I can accept this.

I kept comforting myself like this, and finally managed to convince myself.

But that's good too. Dogs have short lifespans, so if I can leave behind a descendant, I won't be too sad when they leave me.

Thinking about it that way made me much happier.

However, this did not stop me from starting to hate Xiaogua. Whenever I saw him, I thought he was a sleazy jerk.

While disliking Xiaogua, she started planning how to nurture Xiaodi's pregnancy.

We need to build a new doghouse for Xiaodi, which can also be considered a delivery room.

I also need to take good care of its health, so I've decided to give Xiaodi an egg every day from now on to supplement its nutrition.

Actually, there's no need to worry too much about the little ones being malnourished. I'm not exactly a know-how when it comes to cooking, but I have enough leftovers for them almost every day.

The two dogs were well-fed and robust, not the weak type.

After considering the two dogs, I need to get down to business.

Since the chicken coop was moved outdoors, the poultry house has not been thoroughly cleaned.

Today, we'll thoroughly clean the breeding shed.

Before cleaning the breeding house, you need to empty the things inside.

First, put some of the firewood from the windshield into the back room, and put the rest into the previous woodpile.

Move all the vegetable pots from the breeding room into the windshield; we plan to keep them there from now on.

Here you can get plenty of sunshine without taking up indoor space.

After this batch of vegetables is finished growing, I plan to empty the vegetable pot.

The large patch of vegetables we planted is enough to eat; we don't need to grow vegetables in pots during the summer.

Then we started cleaning the breeding room.

Open all the windows and spray the whole house twice with disinfectant alcohol.

We will start cleaning an hour after disinfection.

I wiped the floor four or five times with an old, worn-out mop until there were no stains left.

Wipe the lower parts of the wall several times with a cloth to remove any marks.

The whole room was completely transformed.

I sprayed the disinfectant alcohol again, and then kept the window open.

I plan to open the windows for ventilation and let it air out for a few more days.

We no longer need to raise chickens here. After a thorough cleaning and disinfection, it can be used as a normal house.

By the time I finished cleaning the room, it was already dark, and I was covered in dirt.

I quickly took a hot shower, ate a bowl of egg noodles, and then lay down on the warm kang (heated brick bed).

Modern heated brick beds don't need to be burned very hot; a warm, lukewarm temperature is most comfortable.

There's no need to add extra honeycomb briquettes after the firewood is burned, otherwise the kang (heated brick bed) will be too hot in this weather and cause internal heat.

The heated brick bed has excellent heat retention, so you won't feel cold when you wake up the next day.

The next morning, I gradually woke up from my dream with the sound of a rooster crowing.

He stretched lazily and sat on the kang (a heated brick bed), staring blankly outside.

Look at the warm sunshine in the courtyard, the green land on the mountains on both sides, and the vast expanse of apple and peach blossoms.

Just looking at it makes me feel good.

That's great, it's great that the extreme cold apocalypse is over.

While sighing, I got up and changed my clothes with renewed energy.

After getting up, I made myself breakfast and fed the chickens and the dog.

After finishing his meal, he took a pile of wooden planks to the yard.

It's time to put my carpentry skills to use again.

It's time to start making a doghouse for the unborn puppies, which will be their birthing room.

Making a doghouse isn't difficult either; just nail together a large wooden box using one square meter of planks.

The roof is designed as a pointed shape with the two sides joined together.

The entrance was cut into a large archway using a chainsaw.

In no time, I had finished the basic shape of the doghouse.

Next comes the beautification part.

First, use a sander to sand all the edges and corners until they are smooth and rounded, so that the dog won't get pricked by splinters when it climbs up.

Then take out the wood varnish and apply it to the outside of the doghouse.

I wasn't sure if the wood varnish would harm the puppy, so I didn't apply it to the inside.

Then I took out the colored paint I had bought earlier and drew two black dog paw prints on the front door.

Then draw some flowers and plants randomly on both sides of the doghouse.

Dogs may not understand appreciation, but I do.

This painting is filled with my love for them.

After the painting was finished, it was hung on the courtyard wall to dry.

This is unlike before, when the two dogs were small and could simply be left out in the yard to sunbathe.

I'm afraid they'll ruin it if I put it out in the yard to dry.

Watching the soft sunlight shine on the doghouse, I felt great.

I wandered over to the chicken coop and suddenly remembered that there was a hen who wanted to incubate her eggs.

Whether there's one pregnant woman or two pregnant women, they all need to be served.

Why shouldn't I take care of both pregnant women at the same time?

With this idea in mind, I immediately put it into action.

Clean up the old, worn-out chicken coop I used before and put it in another corner of the chicken coop.

Then put a small chicken coop that I bought before inside, the kind made of straw.

Place five freshly laid eggs in the henhouse and see if the hen reacts after a while.

If a hen is willing to go in and incubate the eggs, then there is a high probability that chicks will be born.

I had thought that a hen would be willing to go in and incubate the eggs, but I didn't expect it to happen so quickly.

After settling the old chicken coop, I went back to my room to make lunch.

After lunch, I took a short nap. When I woke up and went to check near the chicken coop, there was a hen there incubating her eggs.

It was a yellow-feathered hen with black feathers, sitting obediently on the henhouse. When it saw me coming, it blinked at me.

It seems to be saying, "Don't stop me from hatching the eggs this time."

I was amused by the hen's silly and goofy appearance; she was really adorably clumsy.

Great, I've successfully triggered the task of serving two pregnant women.
