Chapter 122 Blood Sausage
When Sister Wang heard that I didn't want to go inside, she seemed happy instead.
"You little rascal, you're still so clever and witty, just like me when I was young!"
Upon hearing this, Liu Ersao laughed and bickered with Wang Sao: "You? When you were young, you were chased by geese until you were crying your eyes out. You think you're clever?"
"So what? If Old Wang hadn't saved me when the goose chased me, he might not have even taken a liking to me!"
Aunt Wang wasn't angry at all, and continued speaking with a happy smile.
Aunt Liu chuckled upon hearing this: "What did you see in you, your bruised butt from being pinched by the goose?"
As soon as Aunt Liu said that, everyone in the room burst into laughter, and even I couldn't help but giggle along.
Aunt Wang didn't laugh. She calmly patted the dirt off her legs and pretended to stand up from the fire pit: "I can't keep this fire burning anymore. I'm going home to get my butt treated."
This caused everyone to burst into laughter again.
Before the apocalypse, my family had never been so harmonious. Now I realize that it's really fun to see the adults gathered together, chatting, joking and bickering.
With nothing to do, I sat on a small stool, leaning against the wall, listening to everyone chat. This was much more interesting than watching TV dramas.
I've been living alone for too long and I've lost all my popularity. Today I must take this opportunity to attract more people.
"Hey, you're saying Taozi is still all alone?"
The previous joke had just ended when Wang Sao started gossiping about the base again, only to find that the subject of the gossip was Taozi.
"Yeah, he's still alone. He's been introduced to all the girls at the base, but he doesn't like any of them."
Aunt Liu's face fell with worry whenever this topic was brought up.
"It must be really lonely to see him all alone all day. What kind of world is this? Why doesn't he listen to advice and find a companion?"
Liu Ersao continued Liu Sao's words, her face also full of worry.
I have no say in this matter. After all, like Taozi, I am also a loner. At least he lives in the Baizhen base, while I live alone in the deep mountains and forests.
Whenever they brought this up, I felt guilty and didn't dare to move an inch.
"Hey? Girl, do you have a boyfriend?"
As the saying goes, what you fear most is what happens. I hadn't even been feeling guilty for two minutes when Sister Liu turned around and asked me.
I dared not say no, for fear that Sister Liu would introduce me to someone.
Just as she was hesitating, Aunt Liu spoke up: "The girl has no worries about food and clothing, and she's pretty too. Why are you still worried about her?"
Thankfully, Aunt Liu blocked it for me, and the pressure instantly disappeared.
"Then I'm worried about you. When will you stop working with your older brother? I'll help you find someone with good health."
Just like a few years ago, they got on the highway without warning.
"Keep it for yourself, I don't need it."
Aunt Liu laughed and scolded as she scooped the chopped pork into a basin.
"What are you chatting about so animatedly?"
Brother Liu peeked his head in from outside the door.
"Talk about when your wife will divorce you and find someone new."
"Ha ha ha ha…"
Laughter filled the room, leaving Liu Erge completely bewildered.
While scratching his head, he asked, "Hey, the pig intestines are cleaned, and the seasoning is ready?"
"Oh dear, not yet! Hurry up and hurry up!"
Liu Ersao put down the radish she was holding and moved next to Zhang Sao to help pick garlic.
"You can't even figure out how to stuff pig intestines, and you're talking about changing men? I think I should replace you first."
Brother Liu rolled his eyes, gave a sarcastic laugh, and left immediately.
Liu Ersao was instantly enraged and shouted, "Liu Er, what did you say? You stand right there!"
"Haha, didn't you say Liu Ercheng listened to you? Now it seems that's not necessarily true."
Wang's wife finally seized the opportunity to launch a sarcastic attack.
"Hey, you old woman..."
Liu Ersao was caught in a dilemma, unsure whether to scold Liu Erge or Wang Sao first, and was quite busy.
It's really interesting; watching them chat is addictive.
I laughed as I moved my small stool to sit next to Aunt Zhang and helped her peel garlic.
Although they were laughing, they did increase the speed of their work.
In no time at all, the scallions, ginger, and garlic were all chopped.
He called out, and the men carried in the pig's blood.
The task of preparing the seasonings was left to Aunt Liu; everyone said that her seasonings were the best.
I watched as buckwheat flour and pig's blood were poured together and stirred. Once it was almost mixed, a large amount of scallions, ginger, garlic, and various seasonings were added.
It didn't become particularly viscous after stirring for a while; it remained in a fluid state.
The large, bright red basins looked rather eerie, and they didn't smell very appetizing. If I hadn't eaten Liu Sao's blood sausage before, I wouldn't even have the desire to eat it.
"Go get that enema over there quickly."
After preparing the ingredients, Aunt Liu tapped the blood-stained chopsticks on the basin to shake off the last few drops of pig's blood, and then instructed Brother Liu to make an enema.
Brother Liu carried the pig's blood into the house across the street, and Brother Liu the second carried in the clean pink pig intestines as well.
I didn't go over to watch; it was just stuffing pig's blood into pig intestines, nothing to see.
"Is the water boiling? It'll be ready soon!"
Brother Liu's voice came from across the hall.
Aunt Liu put down her work and shouted loudly towards the opposite door, "Come on over!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the curtain on the opposite side opened, and several men walked in, each carrying a large basin of raw pig blood sausage.
"You've really poured a lot today, will these two pots even boil?"
The last one to come in was Brother Zhang. He had just placed the blood sausage basin on the stove when he worried that it wouldn't boil properly.
"Let's boil it twice, it's really tough."
Aunt Liu glanced at the several basins of blood sausage, then at the pot, and drew a conclusion.
After saying that, he took out two smooth, thin straws from somewhere and slowly put the pig intestines into the pot.
While boiling the pig intestines, the women sped up the washing of vegetables.
Soon the pig intestines will be scooped out, and we'll immediately start making a stew of the pig.
After the pig blood sausage had been cooked for a while, a needle appeared on the thin straw that Aunt Liu was holding.
She picked up a piece of blood sausage from the bottom of the pot and stuck a needle into it.
Suddenly, a small spurt of blood gushed out from the eye of the needle.
"Oh no, they've punctured a major artery!"
When Aunt Liu saw the blood flowing out, she pressed the blood sausage back into the water while talking. Amazingly, the bleeding stopped a few seconds after it was pressed back into the water.
It might be because the blood sausage is made with buckwheat flour, making it quite sticky.
After listening to the women chat for a while, the aroma of blood sausage slowly wafted out from the pot and filled the air.
Liu Sao and Liu Er Sao worked together to scoop both pots of blood sausage into a basin.
After the blood sausage was cooked, the people outside were not immediately called in. The people inside each received a piece.
My fingers were burning from holding the blood sausage, so I could only move it back and forth between my hands, blowing on it as I ate.
The outer casing is very chewy, and the pig's blood inside is fragrant with buckwheat noodles and various seasonings. It has a soft texture and is very salty and flavorful.
When I took a bite, oil was still oozing out. The clear grease flowed from the blood sausage to the outside of the casing. I was so eager that I quickly took another bite, afraid that the grease would drip onto the ground and go to waste.
After the women inside finished eating, Aunt Liu shouted for the people outside to come in.
