Chapter 10 Condiments and Beverages

Chapter 10 Condiments and Beverages

On the morning of May 26, I drove to the county town on an empty stomach. After filling my stomach, I went directly to the supermarket I had visited the day before to continue shopping.

Condiment area

100 barrels of two commonly used brands of soy sauce, 200 barrels of vinegar (I can't live without vinegar), 20 barrels of oyster sauce, 50 bottles each of sesame oil and chili oil, 50 bottles of sesame paste, 50 bottles of pickled olives, 50 barrels of locally made Tongliao soybean paste, and 50 bags of Sichuan peppercorns, totaling 6500 yuan.

Beverage area

Coca-Cola 24 bottles x 20 cases, orange juice 24 bottles x 20 cases, almond milk 20 cans x 20 cases, beer 24 cans x 5 cases, RIO lightly tipsy in various flavors 12 cans x 80 cases (my favorite).

Five cases of high-proof liquor, ten cases of coconut milk (six cans each), 100 bottles of various sweet wines (average price no more than ten yuan, expensive ones excluded), and 300 bottles of canned yellow peaches, totaling 18,000 yuan.

I called over the staff member who helped me deliver the goods yesterday, and we pushed the fully loaded shopping cart toward the checkout counter.

The cashier was the same person as yesterday.

He was clearly not fully accustomed to my lavish shopping spree.

My eyes widened as I stared at the magnificent shopping cart.

He quoted a total price of 24,500 yuan, and I was about to scan the code to pay.

At this moment, the supermarket manager rushed over, smiling broadly, and said, "Hello, thank you for buying so many items from us yesterday and today. Since your purchase volume is so large, our supermarket can give you a 10% discount. If you like the products, you can come back to our supermarket to buy them again in the future. Is that alright?"

When I heard that, I thought, "This is such a stroke of good luck, like money falling from the sky, and it's happening to me!"

He was secretly overjoyed, but calmly nodded.

The manager immediately asked the cashier to recalculate the price, and in the end I only paid 22,050 yuan.

Supermarket staff helped load the goods into my car.

The manager said my car might not be able to hold all the goods and asked if I needed delivery.

I politely declined.

I just asked him to find a reliable staff member to look after the items I hadn't taken with me.

After loading the first batch of goods, I transported them home, but I didn't speed up because I was in a hurry.

Most of the items in this car are glass products, and I don't want them to break because of my impatience.

After arriving home, they hurriedly unloaded the goods. To save time, they didn't carry them inside but simply piled them up in the yard.

Immediately afterwards, they went to the county town to transport the second truckload of goods.

I didn't expect my little truck to be so spacious; I brought all the goods back on the second trip.

After it was brought back, in addition to putting out the seasonings we use in daily life, we also put out some drinks.

The rest were carefully moved to the basement.

Heavy and bulky condiments like soy sauce and vinegar should be placed at the very bottom.

The remaining frequently used and fragile items are placed on the second layer.

After I finished organizing everything, it was getting dark, so I decided to tidy up the house a bit.

The heated kang (a traditional heated brick bed) has been aired out for many days and is now completely dry.

After sweeping the two kangs clean with a broom, I took out the kang mats I bought a while ago and neatly laid them on top.

Once the kang mat was laid out, everything changed immediately; it finally felt like a home.

I found a rag and wiped the heated brick beds in both rooms clean before I started to put them away.

First, carry the three large wardrobes to the kang (heated brick bed) in the east room and place them against the east wall.

The wardrobe looked much bigger than I expected; it was much lighter.

Lift one leg of the cabinet and place it on the kang (heated brick bed), then slowly push it over. Lift the other leg, and the wardrobe is easily moved onto the kang.

Once the three wardrobes were placed side by side against the east wall, I clapped my hands in satisfaction; the width was just right, neither too long nor too short.

Then they took the mattress, quilt, and pillow that had been set aside and put them on the heated kang (a traditional Chinese bed-stove).

After putting on the four-piece bedding set and making the bed, push it to the far west side.

Place a kang table between the wardrobe and the bed.

At first glance, it looks very nice, more cozy and cleaner than ordinary rural houses.

The creamy yellow bedding was fluffy and soft, like melted cream sprawled on the beige kang mat, covering up the mat's monotonous color.

The solid wood kang table and wardrobe are both in natural wood color, with the wood grain unfolding like tree rings, and gleaming with a warm luster under the light.

This simple cottage in the wilderness reveals a touch of the earth's weight and gentleness.

In short, it has a very high-quality and classy feel.

I couldn't come up with any fancy words, so I turned around and looked at the ground.

He muttered to himself, "The ground is just a little hollow."

Apart from the sofa and coffee table taking up a corner, and a writing desk placed on the far east side, the rest of the room was empty.

But there's nothing to worry about. Once I'm done with stockpiling the goods, I'll plant all sorts of vegetables on the ground.

Even in the coldest of times, I can still enjoy tender green vegetables in a warm room.

Next, they began setting up the small west hut.

Instead of choosing my favorite cream-colored sheets, Little West House opted for a dark brown American vintage four-piece bedding set.

After the sheets were laid out, this small heated kang bed completely amazed me.

The bed sheet is a solid dark brown color, and the duvet cover is a milk tea color.

The dark brown vintage print is printed in a staggered pattern, and the pattern on the pillowcase echoes that of the duvet cover.

Two corners of the bed sheet draped naturally over the edge of the heated brick bed, and the soft soybean quilt and fluffy pillows overlapped to create lazy folds.

This moment reminded me of a scene from an old movie—a winter afternoon, the firelight of a fireplace, wooden furniture and old book pages, seemingly a long dream of a forest and a manor…

I snapped out of my daze and secretly laughed at myself.

What's going on today? This isn't a movie; it's the new life I'm about to begin!

Suddenly, I felt a surge of excitement and even started to look forward to the upcoming apocalyptic life.

Humans are indeed complex creatures; two new sets of bed sheets can bring a good mood for an entire afternoon.

After many days, I finally slept on a proper bed—no, a proper heated kang bed. It's time for my sofa to take a break.

Before going to bed, I reviewed what I was still missing.

Fresh meat, coal, medicine, vegetables, toiletries, kitchenware, tableware, vegetable and grain seeds...

The more I stock up, the more complicated my feelings become. I've been hoarding things for almost a month now, and there's still so much I haven't done!

After roaring

It's dark, time to sleep.
