Chapter 163 Arnold
After finishing everything, it was already late at night.
Although I wasn't afraid of getting infected, I didn't dare drink a single drop of the porridge at Aunt Liu's house. If I got infected again, there would be no one to take care of the people at the Baizhen base.
Cut a large piece of beef that was previously grilled, heat it in a frying pan, and then steam a bowl of rice.
After eating a large piece of beef with rice, my strength returned somewhat.
Soak the remaining rice in water and pour it into the dog's bowl. Now the dog is no longer picky about food and will eat plain rice soaked in water.
After eating rice, the smoked chicken that had been gathered from the hunter's house was cut into 5 pieces. One piece was given to each of the four dogs, and the kitten still got a chicken leg.
After the cat has eaten its fill, I cuddle the soft little creature and fall asleep.
Tiedan is usually very lively and energetic, and likes to run around, jump and play. But at night he becomes unusually well-behaved, snuggling in the quilt and not moving, and can sleep with humans all night.
I got up early the next day, hurriedly fed the livestock for the day, and left extra food for the dog and cat. Then I drove to the Baizhen base.
I locked the door from the outside when I left yesterday, but today I just opened it and drove the car in.
First, we went to Aunt Liu's house to check on her. Aunt Liu was already able to get out of bed and walk around, and was squatting by the stove cooking porridge.
Aunt Liu was very happy to see me.
"Here I am, sister. Look at me, am I much better? It's all thanks to you. You saved my sister-in-law and your brother's lives."
Upon hearing that Brother Liu's life had been saved, it seemed that Brother Liu was alright now.
"Is Brother Liu feeling any better?"
"Yes, he's inside. Come in and take a look."
Upon entering the room, I saw Brother Liu sitting on the kang (a heated brick bed). Although he looked very weak, he was much better than when he appeared unconscious yesterday.
“Sister is here. I heard from your sister-in-law that you saved us. You said we owe you so much, how can we ever repay you?”
Brother Liu's voice was weak, but that didn't stop him from talking a lot.
"Once you recover from your illness and are in good health, you'll have plenty of opportunities to help me build houses and farm the land, and repay the favor."
I joked with Brother Liu, and a smile appeared on his sallow face.
After telling Aunt Liu, I turned around and ran to see Taozi.
Taozi was squatting on the ground, starting a fire, apparently making himself breakfast.
Young people are great; they recover their strength quickly when they get sick.
"Ahem, alright, young man?"
I leaned against the door I had kicked in the doorway and watched Taozi start a fire.
When Taozi saw it was me, he immediately stood up in surprise: "It really was you who saved me! I thought I was dreaming."
"If I hadn't saved you, how could you have survived when you were so sick?"
This kid doesn't remember any of the kindness I showed him.
Taozi scratched his head a little embarrassed after hearing this: "I vaguely remember you feeding me yesterday. I've never seen you so gentle in real life. I thought I was dreaming."
This kid is really love-struck; even on his deathbed, he's still thinking about romantic relationships.
"If you treat me like a sister and don't think about those useless things, I can always be this gentle with you."
Taozi pouted, squatted down and continued tending the fire, muttering under his breath, "I don't believe it."
Are you cooking porridge?
I went over and lifted the pot lid. I saw that the porridge inside had been cooked until it was very thick, so I asked Taozi to ladle out a bowl for me.
"I went to deliver it to the base commander, but I don't know how he is now."
Carrying the porridge to the Baizhen base, I pushed open the door to the base director's office and found the old man sitting on his bed drinking chicken soup.
"Oh? You're sick, who's going to make you chicken soup?"
I was surprised; this amazing old man really does have some tricks up his sleeve.
"Then don't worry about it."
Encouraging the old man to turn his face away proudly and continue drinking his chicken soup.
"Hurry up and drink the porridge too."

The millet porridge was pushed next to him, and the old man did not refuse. He took it and slurped up a couple of mouthfuls with a spoon.
"You're really something, little girl! You can even cure infectious diseases!"
I had a few sips of porridge with the old man at the base, and then he suddenly looked up and praised me.
"I almost died from illness a few days ago. It was just a lucky accident, but I didn't expect it to actually cure me."
I was afraid that others would think I was some kind of genius, so I told the truth about my experience.
The old man continued drinking his chicken soup with a "guess if I believe you" expression on his face.
"I'll treat you to a big meal once I'm better. I'm afraid this chicken soup for the sick might infect you."
He also knew it wasn't appropriate for me to watch him drink chicken soup, so he explained why he wouldn't let me drink any.
"Can I borrow the cafeteria food for a bit? I'll go brew some medicine."
It's too much trouble to keep brewing the medicine at Aunt Liu's house and sending it over. It's better to brew it at the base center and then send it to Aunt Liu and Taozi.
"There's no one in the cafeteria, so you can use it all. I'll send two people to help you."
Of course, I was extremely happy to have someone help me. I took the medicine from the car and headed to the canteen. When I arrived, I found that there were already three young people inside.
A young girl and two young boys, one of whom was the one who helped me at the base entrance yesterday.
"Hello, my name is Arno. Please let us know if you need any help."
The boy greeted me first.
"My name is Wang Chengyi. I'll leave it to you."
The boy directed the girl to help wash the rice and cook porridge, while the two boys tended the fire.
As I was boiling the herbs in the pot, I turned around and saw Taozi standing at the entrance of the cafeteria.
"When did you arrive? You didn't even say hello?"
Taozi pouted: "When you said your name was Wang Chengyi..."
That smug look of his suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and I couldn't be bothered to pay him any attention, so I continued working.
When Taozi saw that I was ignoring him, he suddenly said, "I've known you for so long, and I didn't even know your name was Wang Chengyi."
It's obvious that the infectious disease has messed up his brain these past few days, so I'm even less inclined to talk to him.
Once the medicine is decocted, it is ladled out in a large bowl unique to the cafeteria and placed on the table along with a large bowl of porridge.
I went to the broadcasting room and started broadcasting again: "The special medicine for infectious diseases has been prepared. Please come to the cafeteria to take the medicine and drink the porridge as soon as possible."
I said it five times in a row, hoping that everyone would come over on their own initiative.
First, give Taozi and the other three young men their medicine and porridge, then have Taozi deliver two bowls back to Sister Liu and Brother Liu.
Just then, Xiao Yi and Xiao Er ran over. Both puppies had lost a lot of weight. I didn't blame the people at the White Town base, since my dog had also lost weight during the days I was sick.
I ladled two bowls of sticky millet porridge from the pot and placed them on the ground. The two dogs slurped it all down.
Before the residents arrive, I need to deliver a bowl of medicine to the base manager.
I knocked but no one answered, so I nervously pushed the door open and saw that the old man was already asleep on the sofa.
I put the medicine on the table, didn't wake him up, and left the office. He'll drink it when he wakes up.
"Doesn't the base elder have a home? He lives in his office all day."
I was really curious why they were in the office even though they were sick, so I asked the young people in the cafeteria.
