Chapter 65 Undercurrents

Xiao Gao was always very reserved in front of Xu Neng, even though he had been with him for three years and was his only special assistant.

Xu Neng is a man who has always been cold-blooded and self-controlled.

Even with his mother, whom he had settled in the United States, he only had Xiao Gao bring gifts to visit her every two months, and he rarely went there himself.

Xiao Gao had never seen him so persistent with anyone, not even Xu Hui; he never said a word of nonsense.

But this time, it seems different.

Contrary to his usual behavior, he became curious about a woman.

So Xiao Gao took it very seriously, working for a whole day and night, and came to report back with a thick stack of documents.

"Let's talk about Chu Xiang first." Xu Neng glanced at Xiao Gao calmly before finally speaking.

Xiao Gao handed over a stack of materials and said earnestly:

"Chu Xiang, 32 years old, comes from a poor rural family. He met Wang Feifei through work and then suddenly built a new house in his hometown, which is the most luxurious in the whole village."

Xu Neng sneered inwardly: It seems she's still part of the poverty alleviation team.

"Chu Xiang's new love interest is a woman named Pan Xin."

Xiao Gao hesitated for a moment, then said, "This Pan Xin... used to be... Xu Hui's... lover."

Xu Neng looked up at Xiao Gao, clearly somewhat taken aback, and quickly went through the relationships between these people in his mind again.

Then I drew a circle on the paper, with "Wang Feifei" written in the middle. There were three people around the circle, and the arrows of these three people were all pointing to the circle in the middle.

He seemed to understand a little better now; he realized the predicament Wang Feifei was in.

"I also found out that Chu Xiang quit his job half a month ago and worked as a male model at a club a few times. Later, for some reason, he stopped going there."

“Male model? Is he short of money?” Xu Neng stroked the pen in his hand with amusement.

"I suspect he had financial problems after Ms. Wang left."

"I don't like the word 'guess.' Go look into his financial problems again."

"yes."

"Okay, then let's talk about the other man."

"The man who took Wang Feifei away is named Chen Nian, 28 years old. His father owns a supermarket near Yujing City. At present, there is no evidence to suggest any relationship between him and Wang Feifei."

Xu Neng wrote a line on the paper: Chen Nian - Supermarket - Yujingcheng - Wang Feifei.

"Oh, right, there's one more thing. A few days ago, Chen Nian beat up Chu Xiang at the property management office, and Chu Xiang even reported it to the police."

"Can you find out what the cause is?"

"It seems they attacked the wrong person; the case is closed."

"What do you think?" Xu Neng asked Xiao Gao.

"The fight between these two is probably related to Wang Feifei."

Xu Neng's lips curved into a barely perceptible smile as he patted Xiao Gao's shoulder:

"Great, thank you for your hard work. You can go ahead and get back to work."

After Xiao Gao left, Xu Neng sat back down at his desk and examined the words he had just written:

"After searching all this way, I'm still completely baffled."

"Wang Feifei, how many secrets do you hold?"

...

At three in the morning, the unfinished building, shrouded in darkness, looked even more desolate. There wasn't a single light in the complex, and stepping out of the elevator, it was pitch black.

Wang Feifei stood at the entrance of the residential area with a flashlight, waiting for a truckload of fruit to arrive.

Half an hour ago, she had just crawled out of bed and felt even colder. The outdoor temperature was only 4 degrees Celsius, and the temperature dropped faster than expected.

She has now moved the electric heater directly into the vegetable room. The seedlings need a stable temperature to grow, and she made a special trip to check before leaving home. The temperature inside the vegetable room was 26 degrees Celsius, which was perfect for the seedlings.

This was the first time Wang Feifei had ventured out of the safe house alone at night. Fortunately, the weather was cold, and snakes, insects, and rodents had all hidden themselves away, making the night very quiet.

She glanced at her new neighbor's window. Good, no lights. On such a cold night, three or four in the morning is when everyone is sound asleep. She hoped everything would go well.

Wang Feifei waited for a short while before two car headlights shone from a distance, getting closer and closer.

They've arrived.

Wang Feifei unlocked the door, pushed it open, and the car drove smoothly into the community and parked downstairs.

A young man jumped out of the car; she recognized him as the boss's assistant.

"Hello, is this Ms. Wang? May I ask where your shop is located? We'll help you unload your goods."

"My cold storage is on the 27th floor. Could you please help me move it?"

"Wow, this is the first time I've heard of a cold storage facility being designed inside a residential building, and so tall at that."

“I don’t want to either, but as you can see, this unfinished building complex has no shops or stores at all. If we want to do some small business, we can only move into our homes.”

The assistant didn't ask any questions, gave her a polite smile, and immediately turned to call the other workers to help move the goods: "Let's hurry up, we still need to get to the airport to pick up the goods later."

After a flurry of activity, it was already past four o'clock. The moving work was almost finished. Wang Feifei paid the final payment and then saw the movers off.

It was already dawn, and she was a little worried, so she stood at the window and looked through binoculars.

Just then, downstairs, the truck started up and made some noise, which attracted the big dog, which ran to the balcony and barked a few times.

Soon after, a man appeared. He stood on the balcony for a few seconds and then came downstairs.

Fortunately, the truck had already driven away. He stood there for two minutes, and then headed straight for Wang Feifei's building...

Soon, there was a knock at the door, and that annoying guy finally took the first step.

Wang Feifei decided not to pay him any attention and pretended that no one was home.

She changed into her pajamas; she'd been busy since dawn, but she could still take a nap.

We also have to welcome the nanny robot during the day.

I woke up around noon to find the neighborhood group chat in an uproar. It turned out that a male neighbor had posted a photo saying that a car had broken into the neighborhood in the early hours of the morning and that all the neighbors should pool their money to repair the gate.

This was clearly aimed at Wang Feifei, but unfortunately no one in the group paid any attention to him. Eight out of ten households lived in the western district, which was so far apart from the western district. Moreover, the western gate was always open. They lived in an unfinished building, so they couldn't be bothered with this matter.

Seeing the man acting like a clown, Wang Feifei was actually pleased, as he had helped solve a major problem:

"Once I've prepared all the supplies, it'll save me the trouble of fixing the door. Let him do whatever he wants, haha."

Chu Xiang was anything but happy at this point. He had just received a debt collection call at noon, demanding that he pay off his three million yuan debt by the day after tomorrow.

The scene of being chased for debts last time is still vivid in my mind. I've only been able to recover for a few days, and my leg injury hasn't even healed yet, and now they're already demanding a second payment...

He was completely driven insane!

Chu Xiang sat in the living room for a full two hours without moving, exuding an eerie and gloomy atmosphere.

Pan Xin was restless. She was worried that Xu Huan would call her. She wanted to find an opportunity to steal the phone, but looking at Chu Xiang like this, she dared not make any rash moves.

At this moment, on the coffee table lay a shirt stained with oil. It was clear that it had been washed many times, and the fabric was badly wrinkled, but orange-red oil stains still showed through in many places.

Chu Xiang had been staring at the shirt for two hours.

"Three million? Wang Feifei? Chen Nian?"

He was determined to do something big and solve all three problems at once.

Pan Xin saw the fleeting smile on his face and became even more frightened...
