Zhongyang City Grain Depot
Zhongyang City Garrison
The granary was already surrounded by people, who were talking excitedly. Feng Zhengyang quickly stepped forward, and the crowd made way for him.
"What's going on?" Feng Zhengyang asked, frowning.
"Commander, we were loading grain for Mr. Chen as you ordered, but who would have thought... Commander, take a look for yourself!" a soldier said, pointing to the inside of the granary, where the scene made Feng Zhengyang frown even more deeply.
Contrary to his expectations, the granary was indeed full, but as the soldiers rummaged through the piles of grain, stacks of bulging sacks were revealed inside.
Several of the sacks had already been opened by the soldiers, revealing that they contained all sorts of electronic waste.
"Go, check the bags inside again," Feng Zhengyang ordered his subordinate with a gloomy expression.
Upon hearing this, the soldiers sprang into action, continuing their thorough inspection of the remaining sacks. Before long, they had opened dozens of sacks of various sizes. Apart from the first few sacks opened, the rest were filled with all sorts of electronic waste, including discarded computer motherboards, circuit boards, monitors, and broken wires and components.
Upon seeing this, Feng Zhengyang took a deep breath, trying to suppress his anger, and said in a deep voice, "There's no need to look at this granary. You should go and check the rest of the granaries."
He still held onto a sliver of hope, after all, there were dozens of such granaries here, surely not all of them were like this?
Upon hearing this, the soldiers realized what was happening and quickly ran in twos and threes to the other granaries.
"Uncle Feng, what... what's going on? Why is the grain depot in Zhongyang City filled with these scraps instead of grain?" Chen Yu frowned, looking at Feng Zhengyang with a puzzled expression.
Feng Zhengyang did not answer Chen Yu. At this moment, he was filled with rage and remained silent as he looked at the granaries that were about to be inspected.
Seeing this, Chen Yu wisely refrained from pressing the matter further. He knew that Feng Zhengyang was on the verge of exploding with anger, and there was no need to provoke him.
In fact, he was fully aware of the state of the granary, after all, it was his "masterpiece".
A few hours earlier, while Feng Zhengyang and the others were chasing Liang Zheng, he raided all the granaries. In order not to arouse suspicion, he spent some time tampering with them.
Before the natural disaster struck, when he plundered major ports in Merica, he didn't care about anything and took them all into the other-dimensional space.
Later, when he was sorting through the supplies, he discovered that he had also included all sorts of garbage and waste that Merica was preparing to export abroad for disposal.
Chen Yu was quite troubled by this at the time. Although there was no concept of air or time in his other-dimensional space, the substances inside would not cross-contaminate each other, and his other-dimensional space was large enough that he could leave some space for those trash.
But after all, those things were just junk, and having them in there really bothered him.
However, due to their sheer number, he couldn't handle them in a short time, so he could only leave them lying in the other dimension.
Unexpectedly, it came in handy today. He collected the grain, and the empty granary was really outrageous. Liang Zheng and his men had occupied the granary for so long, it was impossible that no one would have noticed if the granary was empty.
So after scavenging the food into his own dimensional space, he released all sorts of garbage and then covered it with a thin layer of food. In this way, as long as no one checked, he could make it look completely real.
At this moment, Feng Zhengyang was still hoping to find a granary that hadn't been tampered with. Chen Yu chuckled inwardly; his intervention was, of course, a calculated move...
"Report to the commander: A large amount of electronic waste has been found in grain warehouse No. 1."
"Report to the commander: A large amount of electronic waste has been found in grain warehouse No. 2."
…………
"Report to the commander: Electronic waste has been found in grain warehouse No. 40."
…………
Feng Zhengyang's face was extremely grim. He looked at the stacks of opened sacks in front of him, and an indescribable anger welled up inside him. He had originally thought that at least one or two granaries would be safe, but reality had given him a resounding slap in the face.
"These corrupt officials!" Feng Zhengyang cursed through gritted teeth. His voice was icy cold, filled with anger and disappointment, as if he wished he could tear the "corrupt officials" in his mouth apart.
He never imagined that those people would be so audacious as to dare to target the national grain reserves! And they were so greedy, leaving no room for anything else; they were utterly devoid of conscience!
With the extreme cold and natural disasters raging, the people are in dire need of emergency food supplies. Given the current state of the grain depot, what will he use to provide disaster relief? How will he explain this to the people?
Feng Zhengyang's heart sank to the bottom, and he felt as if all his strength had been drained by despair.
However, as the commander of the garrison, he knew that in the face of this raging natural disaster, anyone could collapse and give up, but he could not.
He must remain calm, analyze the current situation, and find a solution.
Struggling to compose himself, Feng Zhengyang raised his head high once more, his eyes filled with determination and resolve, and addressed the soldiers: "Fellow soldiers, the situation we face is extremely dire, but please remember, the difficulties are only temporary, and we have the ability and the responsibility to overcome them!"
Feng Zhengyang's voice was steady and powerful, like a heavy hammer striking the hearts of the soldiers, awakening the courage and strength deep within them.
