Facing several survivors rushing towards him, Chen Yu raised his gun, turned around, and fired a burst of bullets, felling the attackers to the ground.
Lin Lele was stunned by the few survivors who rushed at her; she didn't even care about firing her gun. She instinctively turned to run away, but unexpectedly saw Chen Yu firing at the group of thugs behind her.
The "zombies" that she had just attacked them bypassed her and Chen Yu and pounced on the thugs that Chen Yu had just knocked down, launching a frenzied attack.
"Sir, this...?" Lin Lele stared wide-eyed at the chaotic scene before her, her voice filled with confusion.
"Ignore them and come with me."
As Chen Yu spoke, he bypassed the group of people at the bottom and the crazed survivors, and entered the stairwell.
The woman who had led them earlier was dragging her injured body and limping towards the stairwell.
"Pfft~" Chen Yu pulled the trigger, and the woman's other leg was hit by him.
"Don't kill me, don't kill me!" the woman screamed in terror, her body contorted in pain. She collapsed to the ground, clutching her wound with her hands, tears and sweat streaming down her face.
Seeing this, Chen Yu slowly stepped forward, and Lin Lele quickly followed.
"Isn't this the lady who just led the way for us?" Lin Lele asked, her tone tinged with surprise and confusion.
Chen Yu didn't answer, only staring coldly at the woman on the ground. The woman's eyes were filled with fear and pleading as she struggled to speak, "I...I just want to live...I have no other choice..."
"Are all your people here?" Chen Yu asked coldly.
The woman shook her head, trembling, her voice filled with despair: "I don't know... I don't know, they forced me! Please, don't kill me!"
"Pfft~" Chen Yu was too lazy to waste any more words with her, and a bullet hit her right between the eyebrows.
The woman fell to the ground with a thud, her eyes wide open, her face filled with disbelief.
Lin Lele watched this scene with mixed feelings.
She now roughly understood what had happened. The woman who had just been shot dead by Chen Yu was actually part of the same group of thugs who had ambushed them earlier.
From the very beginning, they had fallen into the trap set by the thugs in the building.
However, she still felt somewhat uncomfortable watching someone who had just been talking to them die in front of her.
Chen Yu glanced at Lin Lele, knowing she might be feeling unwell, but he didn't stop to comfort her.
He returned to the room, where the five thugs he had just knocked down who had tried to ambush them were now smashed beyond recognition by the crazed survivors.
Four of them completely lost their breath.
Chen Yu chased away several crazed survivors and approached the still-breathing thug, saying calmly, "Tell me, how many of you are there? Where are you all hiding?"
The thug struggled to lift his head, his eyes flashing with fear and despair. He knew he had no way out, but in this apocalypse, death itself was not frightening; what was frightening was the endless torment that followed.
He glanced at his four other companions lying on the ground, and spoke with difficulty, his voice weak and trembling: "Except for...except for our leader Zhou Hao, everyone else...is here."
"Where is he now?" Chen Yu continued to ask.
"16-3".
Chen Yu nodded and said to Lin Lele, "See him off."
He understood that the thug had no reason to lie anymore; having made a promise, he naturally wouldn't go back on his word.
"Me?" Lin Lele pointed at herself in disbelief.
"Did I invite you here for a vacation?" Chen Yu retorted irritably.
Lin Lele nodded helplessly. Although she was still struggling internally, she still raised the gun in her hand.
Take a deep breath, aim at the other person's head, then close your eyes and decisively pull the trigger.
"Ah~!" A painful scream rang out.
Lin Lele quickly opened her eyes and saw the thug lying in a pool of blood, groaning in pain.
It turns out that the shot she fired just now only hit the other person's shoulder.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" Lin Lele quickly apologized, her voice trembling with regret. "Just hold on a little longer, I'll take you away right away!"
As she spoke, she raised her gun again and aimed at the other person, but at the last moment, seeing the horrific state of the other person, she turned her head to the side.
After the trigger was pulled, the victim's screams stopped abruptly.
Lin Lele carefully turned her head back, but what she saw next made her heart skip a beat again.
This time she did hit the thug, but the bullet went through his chin and still didn't kill him.
"Pfft~" Chen Yu couldn't stand it anymore and shot him in the head.
After all, he promised to give her a quick death, so what's the point of letting Lin Lele abuse her again and again?
Seeing that Lin Lele was still in a daze, Chen Yu kicked her in the butt, waking her from her shock.
"Let's go, the battle isn't over yet!" Chen Yu's tone was sharp, but also tinged with helplessness. He regretted bringing such a burden along.
"What about them?" Lin Lele asked Chen Yu, looking at the stunned survivors in the room.
"They're just pitiful people, no need to bother with them anymore." Chen Yu's voice was devoid of any emotion.
"But they're zombies, what if..."
"Zombies my foot! You've been reading too many novels, haven't you? Where do zombies come from in this world?" Chen Yu said irritably. "They are just ordinary people driven by fear and despair who have lost their minds."
