Chapter 227 Moving into the Third District

After removing their rifles, Chen Yu and Lin Lele no longer stood out and walked towards the stadium entrance like ordinary people.

The stadium doors were wide open, and the inside was bustling with people, yet orderly. Chen Yu and Lin Lele blended into the crowd, trying their best not to attract attention.

They observed that the stadium was divided into different areas, some of which were distributing food, others were temporary medical points, and there were also designated areas for children to play. Although the conditions were basic, the residents seemed to be receiving basic care overall.

The two had barely entered the stadium when two middle-aged men, who appeared to be staff members, approached them: "Gentlemen, you seem to be new to our third section?"

Lin Lele asked in confusion, "What..."

However, before she could finish speaking, Chen Yu interrupted her: "Yes, we've run out of food at home and have no choice but to come out and seek help. Is there anything we can do to help you here?"

As he spoke, he also gave Lin Lele a wink.

Seeing this, Lin Lele also looked anxious: "Uncles, I heard that we can get food and necessary supplies here, is that true?"

Upon hearing this, the two men revealed an expression of "I knew it," and one of them said with a wry smile, "We've tried to persuade you so many times, but you just wouldn't move. You only come when the supplies are all gone. But since you're here, we'll do our best to help you."

"You're lucky. We just happened to have a few vacancies in our third section today," the middle-aged man said, pointing to an area not far away. "Go register at the registration desk over there first. After you're registered, we'll arrange accommodations for you."

Then, pointing in a direction, he said, "That's the supplies distribution area. You can go there to register and receive food and necessities. However, I must remind you that supplies are scarce right now, and the amount each person can receive is limited. I hope you can understand."

"Never mind, I'm free anyway, I'll take you there."

Chen Yu and Lin Lele nodded their thanks and followed the signs to the registration desk.

Because there were so many people here, the middle-aged man who was leading the two of them kept turning back to make sure they didn't get lost.

He then quietly introduced the other facilities and services in the stadium: "Look over here, this is a temporary wash area. In this frigid weather, melting water would be too wasteful of our limited energy, so we encourage people to wash with snow. And over there is the education area. Some residents who used to be teachers will teach children here, trying to help them get back to normal life."

Chen Yu and Lin Lele nodded repeatedly. The registration office was not far from them, and the two arrived quickly.

The middle-aged man who led the way greeted a man surnamed Yan at the registration desk and then left.

"Hehe, you two are really lucky to have found a few seats available. However, as is customary, we need to conduct some basic registration and information verification beforehand, so please inform us truthfully," the man surnamed Yan said with a smile.

Chen Yu and Lin Lele nodded.

Then, in response to the basic personal questions posed by the man surnamed Yan, the two answered truthfully one by one, except for their address.

Afterwards, the two followed the procedure and each went to collect a quilt.

They were then taken to a temporary dormitory inside the stadium, which was made up of a few planks of wood and canvas, and that marked their official move-in.

"Old Master Lin is exaggerating a bit. You only studied at university in Nandu for a few years, yet he still bought you property there, and it's a villa at that," Chen Yu remarked.

"What villa? You mean my grandfather?" Lin Lele asked, puzzled.

"Isn't that right? Wasn't that 'Wanjun Huating No. 23' that was just registered a house your grandfather bought for you?" Chen Yu raised an eyebrow.

"Of course not?" Lin Lele said irritably. "Although Grandpa has been the president of the Academy of Sciences for decades, with his meager salary, how could he afford a big villa like 'Wanjun Huating'?"

"Whose house did you register just now?" Chen Yu frowned.

He had just seen Lin Lele give him that address without a second thought, and she didn't seem to suspect anything, so he naturally assumed that it was where Lin Lele used to live.

"Of course..."

Before Lin Lele could finish speaking, a group of people noisily rushed into the room.

"Are you two new here?" The newcomer looked at Chen Yu and his companion with a surprised expression.

Chen Yu and the other person nodded.

"Haha, it's good that you're here, it's good that you're here. This place is much better than us sitting around outside and living off our savings."

"From now on, we'll be roommates, so please take good care of me."

…………

These people were very enthusiastic and introduced themselves to Chen Yu.

That's right, this dormitory is not a small room for one or two people, but a large dormitory that can accommodate 30 people.

After all, given these conditions, how could it be possible to provide individual dormitories for each or even just a few people?

Only by making rational use of resources can more people survive.

"You two haven't had lunch yet, have you? Hurry up, or there won't be any left to eat." A kind woman seemed to remember something and hurriedly said, while pulling Lin Lele's arm to lead her out the door.

Chen Yu had no choice but to follow, as he was just about to go out and investigate the situation here.

On the way, Chen Yu learned from the woman that her name was "Zhang Yun" and that she had moved to this third district half a month ago.

Her family of three was quite lucky during this natural disaster; they all survived to this day.
