Chapter 258 The Pit

Chen Yu was enjoying a golden, soft, roasted sweet potato when he suddenly heard a noise coming from inside the cave.

He looked up abruptly and saw Yang Yue standing right in front of him.

Upon seeing this, Chen Yu's heart skipped a beat. He then threw the roasted sweet potato in his hand far away with lightning speed, and wiped his mouth with his sleeve as well.

Seeing that Yang Yue was still coming towards him, in order to avoid Yang Yue discovering that he was giving him special treatment and thus exposing his other-dimensional space, he immediately stood up, held up a flashlight, and ran towards Yang Yue.

"Yang Yue, what's wrong?" Chen Yu asked with concern.

"Yes...yes..." Yang Yue stammered for a long time, unable to speak.

"Don't rush, tell me slowly." Chen Yu also realized the seriousness of the matter. He gently patted Yang Yue's back to comfort her.

It seemed that Chen Yu's reassurance had worked, and Yang Yue finally came to her senses. She took a deep breath, adjusted her emotions, and then told Chen Yu everything that had just happened.

Chen Yu frowned upon hearing this, and after a moment's thought, said to Yang Yue, "Let's go and take a look first."

Yang Yue looked hesitant upon hearing this, seemingly somewhat resistant.

"Hehe, it's nothing. Did you forget I still have this?" Chen Yu pulled out an assault rifle from behind his back and waved it in his hand.

Seeing the assault rifle in Chen Yu's hand, Yang Yue's unease lessened slightly, and she nodded emphatically.

Soon, the two arrived at the place where Yang Yue had just been resting.

Using the light of his flashlight, Chen Yu carefully examined the surrounding environment, especially the place where Yang Yue had described the chill, but he found nothing unusual; it was much the same as the rest of the cave.

"Are you sure this is the place?" Chen Yu asked softly, his eyes full of doubt.

He used the beam of his flashlight to scan the surroundings again, trying to catch any details that might have been missed.

Yang Yue thought about it carefully, but since it was pitch black and she couldn't see anything, she really couldn't be sure for the time being.

After thinking for a moment, she mustered her courage and, following the previous procedure, sat down on the rock again, leaning against the cave wall.

Suddenly, she felt a chill and jumped up, exclaiming, "It's here! It's right here! This is the feeling!" A cold sensation ran down her back, making her feel cold and shivering.

Seeing this, Chen Yu became suspicious and tentatively reached out his hand.

Just as Yang Yue had said, an unusual chill instantly pierced through my palm, and I could feel a bone-chilling cold even through my gloves.

"Am I right?" Yang Yue grabbed Chen Yu's arm, her face pale. "This place isn't clean, let's leave here right away!"

Chen Yu shoved Yang Yue away and said irritably, "What are you yelling about? It's windy, of course it's cold! You're filthy, and you call yourself a 'high achiever'?"

"Wind..." Yang Yue murmured. Yes, now that she imagined it, it really did feel like a cold wind blowing on her back.

She should have realized it immediately, but because she was so terrified, her mind was basically blank and she didn't think about it at all.

Suddenly, her eyes lit up, and she exclaimed excitedly, "Since there's wind, does that mean...?"

“Yes, the export!” Chen Yu interrupted Yang Yue, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

As he spoke, he picked up a rock and threw it at the cave wall.

The stone collided with the cave wall with a muffled thud, causing the cave wall to tremble slightly before several pieces of rock fell down.

A few faint rays of light pierced through the cracks in the cave wall, and the cold wind blowing in became even more biting.

Chen Yu and Yang Yue exchanged a glance, both seeing the surprise in each other's eyes.

Chen Yu then picked up another boulder and hurled it against the cave wall. Yang Yue also picked up a rock and joined in. Together, they repeatedly struck the cave wall, each impact accompanied by flying debris and a slight tremor in the cave wall. Their movements grew stronger, and their hope grew ever stronger.

Finally, after an even louder roar, obvious cracks appeared in the cave wall, and then a large rock fell off, revealing an opening large enough for one person to pass through.

A cold wind, carrying the scents of the outside world, suddenly rushed into the cave, instantly invigorating everyone.

"It's done!" Chen Yu shouted excitedly. He turned to look at Yang Yue, and both of their eyes shone with the light of victory.

Then, Chen Yu crawled out of the hole.

However, what happened next left him dumbfounded.

This place is actually the bottom of a sinkhole.

All around are steep cliffs that pierce the sky, as if nature had cleaved a deep abyss with a giant axe.

Looking out, the sinkhole is at least 500 meters below the ground, resembling a cage that evokes a deep sense of despair.

While Chen Yu was stunned, Yang Yue also crawled out of the cave. Seeing this suffocating scene, her face turned deathly pale.

Chen Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. Now was not the time to despair; they had to stay calm and find a way to get out of here.

He then began to carefully observe the environment at the bottom of the sinkhole and think about how to get out.

This sinkhole is about 500 meters deep and more than 400 meters in diameter.

He has a helicopter in his alternate dimension, so this height is nothing to him.

However, upon seeing the snowflakes swirling in the air and the howling wind, Chen Yu realized that directly summoning a helicopter to take off might increase the risk due to the strong winds, and there was a risk of crashing the helicopter and losing lives if he was not careful.

Therefore, he directly rejected the plan to leave by helicopter.

Looking around at the cliffs, they were not only steep, but also tilted backwards in some sections. In addition, due to the extremely cold environment, a layer of smooth ice had formed on the cliffs, making it even more impossible to climb up.

After thinking for a moment, Chen Yu said to Yang Yue, "We've been busy all day. This place is quite spacious, let's rest here for the night."

He could only pray that Lin Lele and the others hadn't fallen earlier. If Song Liangping and other local villagers found this place, perhaps a rescue from above would be more reliable.

Otherwise, he and Yang Yue would have no choice but to return to the cave and find another exit.

Seeing that Yang Yue didn't speak, Chen Yu took it as her consent and sat down on the ground.

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and tentatively asked Yang Yue, "Yang Yue, when you ran to find me just now, you didn't see anything, did you?"

Upon hearing this, Yang Yue suddenly recalled the scene in the cave: Chen Yu was holding a wooden stick, the one she had given him to break... with a lump of yellow, unidentified stuff stuck in it, as if he was eating it.

Thinking of this, she felt a sudden churning in her stomach.

"Ugh~" Yang Yue couldn't help but gag. She covered her mouth, her face turning even paler.
