Looking at the crowd chanting extreme slogans, Chen Yu frowned. This city was already being dragged into an abyss by Qin Zhen and his gang.
Just then, Qiao Gang seemed to see something, his expression suddenly changed, and he said to Chen Yu and the others, "Wait here for me, I'm going to see someone important."
With that, he left in a hurry.
Shortly after Qiao Gang left, a group of violent students inadvertently discovered Chen Yu and his companions standing by the roadside.
Upon seeing this, Qiao Xin's expression changed drastically.
"Let's go quickly," she whispered to Chen Yu and Lin Lele.
Then he turned and left, trying to avoid this unnecessary conflict.
However, the crowd's eyes were firmly fixed on them, seemingly convinced that they were "outcasts" and stumbling blocks to their "great cause."
"Stop!" A rough voice came from the crowd, and then several strong young men rushed out from the crowd and blocked their way.
"It's Qiao Xin!" someone recognized Qiao Xin and shouted loudly.
"Hmm?" The leader said in a deep voice, "Qiao Xin, why haven't we seen you at Peking University these past few days? Why haven't you participated in our activities?"
"I...I'm sick!" Qiao Xin's voice trembled slightly. At this moment, she no longer had the same tough demeanor she had when facing Chen Yu and Lin Lele at home.
Clearly, she was very wary of this group of extremist students.
"Sick? How come I didn't know?" the leading man said coldly. "Are you trying to avoid our ideological education because you have a problem with us 'reformers'?"
Just as Qiao Xin was about to explain, a deep voice suddenly rang out: "Qiao Xin is sick and asked me for leave!"
A sprightly old man, supported by Qiao Gang, slowly walked out from the edge of the crowd. Although his steps were unhurried, he exuded an undeniable air of authority.
"Hehe, so it's Principal Li. Okay, whatever you say goes." The leading man said with an awkward smile.
Then, he turned to Chen Yu and Lin Lele and said coldly, "May I ask which college you two are from? You look unfamiliar?"
"These two are my guests," Principal Li said calmly.
Upon hearing this, the leading man narrowed his eyes, scanning Chen Yu and the others before finally fixing his gaze on Qiao Gang beside Principal Li. His expression darkened as he said, "Principal Li, it seems you've made your choice. However, I still must advise you. Our 'reform' is unstoppable. Anyone who tries to obstruct us will ultimately be swept away by the tide of history. Don't think that having a special relationship with that person will protect you!"
"Don't bother with that," Principal Li sneered. "I also advise you, as human beings, there are things you should do and things you shouldn't do!"
"You old bastard!" someone roared angrily in the crowd, looking like he was about to go up and teach Principal Li a lesson.
The leader gestured for the other man to stop, and said to his companions, "They're nothing but grasshoppers in autumn, everyone, let's go!"
Led by the man in charge, the group of people arrogantly left the scene.
Their figures gradually disappeared into the distance, but the extreme aura seemed to linger in the air, sending chills down one's spine.
Principal Li shook his head, looking worried.
After composing himself, he shone his light on Chen Yu and smiled, "President Chen of Tianyu Group, you are indeed young and promising!"
"Chen Yu, this is President Li Deze of Kyoto University," Qiao Zheng introduced to Chen Yu at the opportune moment.
“President Li, I am Chen Yu. It is a great honor to meet you.” Chen Yu politely extended his hand and shook hands with President Li, his eyes revealing sincerity and respect. “I have always held Kyoto University in the highest esteem, especially for its outstanding contributions to cultivating pillars of society.”
"Principal Li is the Imperial Tutor," Qiao Xin whispered to Chen Yu.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yu's eyes widened. He was about to say something when Li Deze waved his hand to interrupt him.
"What imperial tutor? Don't listen to this little girl's nonsense. The Great Qing has been extinct for many years, and she still calls me an imperial tutor! I'm just an ordinary educator, doing my best to cultivate some useful talents for the future of the country."
“Principal Li, please don’t be so modest. Several of the country’s top leaders have come from your classroom. Such a contribution deserves the title of Imperial Tutor.” Qiao Zheng smiled and took over the conversation, his eyes full of respect. “Your educational philosophy and methods have not only shaped generations of outstanding leaders, but have also profoundly influenced the values and development direction of the entire society.”
Li Deze gently shook his head, a hint of helplessness and emotion in his smile. "As educators, all we can do is provide a lamp for young people, illuminating their path forward. How far they can go and how steadily they can walk ultimately depends on themselves."
"Alright, stop praising me here. Let's go inside and talk business. The situation is urgent!"
Li Deze looked solemn, and then led everyone into a simply decorated but academically-filled reception room.
He gestured for everyone to sit down, then slowly walked to the window, gazing at the bustling campus outside, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.
Chen Yu suddenly had a flash of inspiration and said, "Principal Li, I have something very important that I would like to discuss with the Chief Scholar. I wonder...?"
Li Deze shook his head with a wry smile and said, "I know what you want to say, Mr. Chen. It's not that I don't want to help you, but I'm powerless to do anything about this."
"Even you can't enter the capital?" Chen Yu frowned.
Li Deze shook his head again, his expression solemn, and fell silent.
