“Uh…” Yang Yue paused for a moment, then nodded solemnly and began to think of other suitable candidates in her mind.
“How about Professor Zhao Qin from Kyoto University? She has made outstanding achievements in cell biology and gene therapy, especially her contributions to anti-aging research, which are highly compatible with our ongoing 'telomerase regulation technology' project. Moreover, Professor Zhao is in her prime, only around 40 years old, which is the golden age for scientific research and innovation,” Yang Yue suggested, her eyes shining with anticipation.
"Professor Zhao Qin?" Qiao Xin suddenly interjected.
"Oh?" Chen Yu raised an eyebrow. "Xiao Xin, do you know this professor named Zhao Qin?"
Qiao Xin nodded, a hint of sadness on her face: "But unfortunately, Professor Zhao did not survive this natural disaster; she passed away three months ago."
"That's really... a real shame." Chen Yu sighed, a look of disappointment on his face.
"Yes, Professor Zhao's passing is a huge loss to the academic community," Yang Yue said, also expressing her regret.
"Think carefully again about who else might be a good candidate," Chen Yu said, looking at Yang Yue.
Yang Yue smiled wryly upon hearing this: "I've never worked before, so I don't know many people. Although I do know a few authorities in the field of genetics, most of them are men. You don't want men, do you?"
Chen Yu frowned upon hearing this, pondered for a moment, and said, "I do have a good candidate here, but that person is a bit difficult to control..."
"Oh~? Tell me about it?" Yang Yue looked curious.
Chen Yu nodded and then recounted Liu Menghan's story.
"24 years old, a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology from Haha University, specializing in gene editing, truly a genius, and a suitable candidate." After listening to Chen Yu's introduction, Yang Yue nodded in agreement.
However, she quickly realized something was wrong and looked at Chen Yu with suspicion: "Going through all this trouble and setting up so many obstacles, you're not trying to take advantage of her because she's young and pretty, are you?"
"Is that how you see me?" Chen Yu was speechless.
Yang Yue nodded seriously upon hearing this.
Chen Yu was both amused and exasperated. He glanced around and noticed that even Qiao Meng was looking at him with a scrutinizing gaze, which made him shake his head in frustration.
“You’re overthinking it. Although Liu Menghan has some ability, she’s too complicated and cunning. If it weren’t for a last resort, I wouldn’t want her to join the Tianyu base, let alone let her get involved with ‘telomerase regulation technology’,” Chen Yu explained seriously, his tone tinged with a hint of sternness and helplessness. “I’ll think about it some more. If there really isn’t anyone else, we can consider Liu Menghan.”
Hearing Chen Yu say this, Yang Yue and Qiao Xin both nodded silently, understanding his concerns.
"Alright, let's leave it at that for now. Yueyue, you're the base's human resources manager, so you can access all the base members' information. Just find some more and draft a list for me later," Chen Yu said to Yang Yue.
"Let's leave work for now. We've finally come back for a meal, so let's not just focus on work and talk about something else interesting. Xiao Qiao, you go first," Chen Yu said, turning to Qiao Meng in an attempt to steer the conversation away from work and lighten the mood.
Qiao Meng smiled slightly, seemingly recalling something: "Something interesting? Let me think... Oh right, the panda Pangpang in our bunker zoo gave birth a while ago, a litter of four!"

After lunch, Chen Yu piloted a helicopter carrying Qiao Meng and the other two, taking off from the mountaintop. Soon, the helicopter slowly landed on the helipad of Tianyu Base.
The heads of various departments at Tianyu Base had been waiting for a long time.
"Mr. Chen." Everyone bowed to Chen Yu in unison, their eyes filled with respect and expectation.
Chen Yu nodded slightly, a gentle smile on his face. He glanced around at everyone present and said, "Everyone has worked hard. The base has developed very well while I was away."

"Mr. Chen, Chief Qiao, Minister Yang, we have prepared a tour bus. Please get on the bus; it will make it easier for you to visit and inspect the base." A base staff member in a neat uniform stepped forward and respectfully guided them.
Chen Yu, Qiao Meng, and Yang Yue exchanged a smile, nodded, and accepted this thoughtful arrangement.
Given the current size of Tianyu Base, it would probably take them three days and three nights to see it all if they walked.
All three were filled with anticipation for the upcoming visit.
Needless to say, Chen Yu was eager to see with his own eyes what changes had taken place at Tianyu Base during his absence, given its rapid development.
Although Qiao Meng and Yang Yue have not left the base for the past few months and have been involved in the base management, they have been working remotely from inside the apocalyptic bunker for the past three months. This is the first time they have stepped out of the bunker since Chen Yu left and witnessed the full picture and progress of the base.
Therefore, they were equally excited and looked forward to the visit bringing them a completely new perspective and experience.
Led by staff, Chen Yu and his group boarded a tour bus along with a group of department heads from the Tianyu base.
Qiao Xin sat next to Qiao Meng, her mind still racing. Although she had been mentally prepared, she was truly awestruck and overwhelmed by the grandeur of the Tianyu Base. After all, this was the apocalypse, and everything before her eyes was unbelievable.
