She stood at the doorway, gently lifting the hem of her dress with both hands, seemingly both curious and a little nervous about the two guests joining the village.
Chen Yu quickly composed himself and responded with a smile, "Thank you, Xiao Qing."
Then she called Lin Lele over, and together with Xiao Qing, they walked along the village path toward the canteen.
"By the way, my name is Chen Yu, and this is Lin Lele," Chen Yu introduced to Xu Qing.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all, Brother Chen... Brother Chen Yu, Sister Lele." Xu Qing responded warmly, her smile becoming even brighter.
"Xiao Qing, are these two guests from outside? They're quite young." A slightly plump middle-aged woman came out of a nearby house, approaching with a mixture of curiosity and friendliness.
“Yes, Aunt Wu, this is Brother Chen Yu, and this is Sister Lele,” Xu Qing introduced to the middle-aged woman. “My dad said they will be living in our village from now on.”
Aunt Wu smiled and looked Chen Yu and Lin Lele over, then warmly greeted them, "Alright, alright, hurry up and go to the cafeteria. It's cold now, and the food won't taste good if it gets cold."
Chen Yu and Lin Lele responded gratefully.
"Can you two hurry up? You're dawdling like this, you can't even finish eating shit before it's hot!" Aunt Wu urged from behind.
"Alright, what's with the rush? It's like you haven't eaten in eight lifetimes." A middle-aged man walked out of a nearby house and said irritably.
He was wearing a thick fur coat, his face etched with the marks of time, and behind him followed a sleepy-eyed little boy, about eleven or twelve years old.
Upon seeing Chen Yu and Lin Lele, the man paused for a moment, then strode over, patted Chen Yu on the shoulder, and said with a smile, "Are you two settling in well in our village?"
“This is a great place, thank you so much for taking us in,” Chen Yu replied with a smile.
Chen Yu was familiar with the middle-aged man in front of him. His name was Zhao Zhang, and he was one of the people who had cleared the collapsed snow cave before, except in his previous life.
"That's good, that's good." The middle-aged man laughed heartily. "Enough talk. I think you must be hungry. Let's hurry to the canteen. Hehe, the food at our village canteen is pretty good. I guarantee you'll have a good meal."
Chen Yu gave an awkward smile.
Next, the group quickened their pace and hurried towards the cafeteria.
Along the way, people greeted Chen Yu and Lin Lele warmly from time to time.
It is evident that the villagers in this village are simple, honest, and warm-hearted.
