"Ring ring~" A series of urgent ringing sounds woke Chen Yu from his sleep, and all he could see was pitch black.
He reached for his phone on the bedside table, squinted at the screen, and saw the contact name: Commander-in-Chief of the International Militia for Cold Relief and Disaster Relief.
This is a note that Lin Lele edited himself using his phone.
Chen Yu frowned and answered the phone.
"What is it?" Chen Yu asked, somewhat annoyed. No one would be happy to be woken up from their sleep.
"Sir, you finally answered the phone!" Lin Lele said anxiously. "I thought something had happened to you!"
"What could possibly happen to me? Why are you making such a fuss? It's three in the morning!" Chen Yu said irritably, trying to make his voice sound more alert.
"How dare you say it's 3 a.m.?" Lin Lele said angrily. "Yesterday at noon, you said you were going to find Liu Menghan. After we parted, I haven't seen you since. Do you know how many times I called you and you didn't answer? I had the militia search the entire airship and we still couldn't find you. If you don't answer the phone, I'm even planning to take some people to Liu Menghan's lab to look for you!"
"Nonsense! Don't you know how important the things in this lab are to me? Under no circumstances are you allowed to touch this place!" Chen Yu's voice suddenly became stern, carrying an unquestionable authority.
"But people can't find you, so they're worried!" Lin Lele's tone carried a hint of grievance.
"I know you're worried about me, but you also need to understand that some things can't be revealed to others casually." Chen Yu's tone softened slightly.
"Where are you right now?" Lin Lele pressed, her tone tinged with anxiety and dissatisfaction. "Why haven't you been around for so long, and haven't you even called back?"
Upon hearing this, Chen Yu's eyes showed a hint of confusion, and he murmured, "Where am I?"
He looked around; it was pitch black, but he was certain that he was on a soft, large bed.
So he replied matter-of-factly, "Of course I'm in my own room, where else would I be?"
"You're talking nonsense, I'm in your room right now!" Lin Lele's voice was filled with confusion and anxiety. "I knocked on the door for ages and you didn't respond. I thought something had happened to you, so I called you and then sent someone to look for you."
Chen Yu was stunned. He wasn't in his own room. Where was he?
Thinking about this, his head not only felt a little dizzy, but also had a slight ache.
He rubbed his temples, then fumbled around by the bedside, intending to turn on the room light first.
He fumbled on the wall for a while before finally finding the switch. He pressed it, and the room immediately lit up.
"Holy crap!" Chen Yu suddenly exclaimed, as if he had seen something extremely terrifying.
"Sir! What happened? Where are you? I'll bring people to you right away!" Lin Lele shouted anxiously on the other end of the phone, she could already hear the fear in Chen Yu's tone.
It took Chen Yu a while to come to his senses. He swallowed and tried to make his voice sound steady as he said to Lin Lele on the other end of the phone, "No need, I'm fine. Let the soldiers get some rest, and you should get some rest too."
Although Chen Yu tried his best to make his voice sound calm, his heart was pounding like a drum.
"Sir, where are you? Tell me clearly, I'm coming to find you!" Lin Lele's voice was filled with unwavering determination.
"Beep~beep~beep~beep~beep~" However, all that came in response to Lin Lele was a busy signal.
Seeing this, Lin Lele became even more anxious. She immediately put on her coat and decided to go find Chen Yu herself.
This time, she didn't call any militiamen. She had a bold guess in her mind: the place she was going to was of great importance, and Chen Yu had strictly forbidden anyone else from contacting it.
Lin Lele strode out of the room, the corridor lights illuminating her determined face.
She was filled with doubt and unease; Chen Yu's unusual behavior made her feel that things were far more complicated than they appeared.
…………
On the other side, Chen Yu, who had just hung up the phone, stared blankly at the unbearable scene before him.
It took him a long time to recover.
He let out a long sigh: "What a tragedy!"
Lei Bi, born in 1982, is indeed no good. He has made "mistakes" several times because of this bad guy. I never expected that he would make such an unforgivable mistake today.
He quietly put on his clothes and left the room.
He sat on the sofa in the outdoor laboratory rest area, lost in thought.
"Slap!" Chen Yu suddenly slapped himself hard.
"Serves you right for not learning your lesson! You drank so much! You're such a beast! How are you going to explain this to people now?"
As he spoke, Chen Yu made a gesture as if he were about to slap himself again.
"Mr. Chen, no!" A pair of gentle hands suddenly grabbed Chen Yu's hand, which was about to fall again, stopping his self-punishment.
Chen Yu looked up in surprise and saw two gentle-looking women standing in front of him, their eyes full of concern and understanding.
It was Li Wanqing and Zhang Zihan.
"When...when did you wake up?" Chen Yu's voice carried a hint of embarrassment and unease. He tried to avoid Li Wanqing and Zhang Zihan's gaze, but couldn't help looking at them, trying to find a trace of forgiveness or understanding in their expressions.
"Um... about half an hour ago, I was woken up by your phone ringing," Li Wanqing said shyly.
“I…I woke up earlier than Wanqing, and I was also awakened by the alarm, but…but I saw you were sleeping so soundly, so I didn’t have the heart to wake you…” Zhang Zihan lowered her head, her voice soft, and she nervously tugged at the hem of her clothes.
