"Haha~! Miss Zhao, my name is Lei Hu, the deputy commander of the Red Sky Alliance's Imperial Guard. I have come to escort you back to the alliance on the orders of Deputy Alliance Leader Yan." Accompanied by a burst of arrogant laughter, a man in red armor with a cold face jumped off the sled. Behind him was a group of equally well-equipped members of the Red Sky Alliance.
Zhao Yuxuan's heart tightened, and fear surged into her heart.
Seeing this, a militiaman nearby gave her a reassuring look, then shouted at the Red Sky Alliance members, "Stop! What do you think you're doing? If you dare to go any further, don't blame the bullets for being unlucky!"
Upon hearing this, Lei Hu sneered. He slowly raised his right hand, signaling the Red Sky Alliance members behind him to stop, but his gaze remained fixed on Zhao Yuxuan.
“Miss Zhao, don’t be afraid, we won’t hurt you. As long as you obediently come back with us, our Red Heaven Alliance will not mistreat you and will guarantee you endless wealth and glory.” Lei Hu’s words were tempting, trying to win over Zhao Yuxuan’s heart.
"I...I have absolutely no connection with your Red Sky Alliance, why are you arresting me?" Zhao Yuxuan forced herself to remain calm. Although she was filled with fear, she knew that panicking at this moment would only make her more passive.
Lei Hu laughed heartily: "Miss Zhao, our Vice Alliance Leader Yan already knows about your persecution by the Tianyu cult leader. Our Red Heaven Alliance is the orthodox force of the world, and we have always been irreconcilable enemies of the Tianyu cult. As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Our Red Heaven Alliance will naturally stand on your side, protect you, and help you fight against those thugs of Tianyu."
"I don't want to, I don't want to go with you!" Zhao Yuxuan's voice was resolute. She gripped the food ration package tightly in her hand, her fingertips turning white from the tension.
A flicker of displeasure crossed Lei Hu's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a smile that appeared gentle yet was full of threat. "Miss Zhao, don't be stubborn. There's nothing the Red Sky Alliance can't get if it sets its sights on us. If you come with us obediently, you'll suffer less, otherwise..." He deliberately dragged out his words, letting the threat slowly build up in the air.
Upon seeing this, two militiamen immediately stepped in front of Zhao Yuxuan, gripping their weapons tightly, their eyes blazing, showing no sign of backing down.
"I'm warning you, she's someone Mr. Chen is protecting. If you dare to lay a finger on her, the Red Sky Alliance might not be able to withstand Mr. Chen's wrath!" one of the militiamen warned coldly.
"Haha~!" Lei Hu laughed loudly, a hint of contempt flashing in his eyes. "Chen Yu? Just a cult leader! In front of the power of my Red Sky Alliance members, he's nothing but a paper tiger!"
"Besides, shouldn't we be reasonable? You've already expelled Miss Zhao from Tianyu Base, so why can't our Red Sky Alliance take her back?" Lei Hu's words carried a hint of provocation as he slowly approached, his eyes gleaming with an undeniable light.
Upon seeing this, the two militiamen took a step back, but they still gripped their weapons tightly and remained vigilant.
They knew that Lei Hu was no pushover, and that the enemy outnumbered them, putting them at a significant disadvantage.
“Deputy Commander Lei, Miss Zhao is now under our protection. We can’t let her go with you.” One of the militiamen said firmly, suppressing his fear.
Lei Hu sneered and took a step closer: "Protect her? With just you two lowly soldiers? Heh, young man, instead of hanging out with that cult leader Chen Yu, why not join our Red Sky Alliance and contribute to the righteous path? I can guarantee that if you join us, your future will be much better than in that cult of Chen Yu."
"Stop! If you take another step forward, we'll open fire!" the militiamen shouted, their voices echoing in the cold wind, carrying an undeniable resolve.
The reason they haven't fired yet isn't because they're afraid of dying, but because they have some concerns.
After all, Chen Yu's orders to them were to protect Zhao Yuxuan and hold off the enemy while waiting for reinforcements, not to directly clash with the Red Sky Alliance.
They knew that once they opened fire, the situation would spiral out of control. Given the vast disparity in strength between the two sides, they might not be able to protect Zhao Yuxuan's safety and could instead put her in even greater danger. Therefore, despite Lei Hu and his men's relentless pursuit, the militia fighters remained calm and restrained.
However, as the enemy drew closer step by step, the militiamen's eyes began to reveal determination and resolve.
They knew that no matter the outcome, they had to hold out until the very last moment and absolutely could not let Zhao Yuxuan fall into the hands of the Red Sky Alliance.
However, at that moment, Zhao Yuxuan, with courage from who knows where, suddenly burst out laughing.
The sudden laughter stunned everyone, including Lei Hu and his men, as well as the two militiamen.
"What are you laughing at?" Lei Hu stopped and stared at Zhao Yuxuan warily.
Zhao Yuxuan's laughter gradually subsided. She raised her head and said with a mocking expression, "You keep saying that Tianyu Base is a cult and Mr. Chen is the leader of the cult, yet you want to reason with Mr. Chen and his group. How can a cult reason? Don't you think your words are a bit illogical?"
Lei Hu's face instantly turned ashen. He hadn't expected Zhao Yuxuan to be so astute in pointing out the contradiction in his words. The surrounding air seemed to freeze, and all eyes were focused on Zhao Yuxuan and Lei Hu.
Lei Hu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.
He coughed lightly and said with a righteous expression, "Although Tianyu Base is a cult, it doesn't mean that everyone in the base is bad. Many of them have been misled and gone astray. Our Red Sky Alliance is here to rescue these innocent people and guide them onto the right path. Miss Zhao, as one of those who have suffered greatly from Chen Yu's persecution, you should be a member of our Red Sky Alliance and fight together against the atrocities of the Tianyu cult."
