Chapter 87 Feng Xinran and Feng Zhengyang

After visiting and extending his regards to the scientists at the mountaintop, it was already afternoon. Chen Yu descended the mountain again, intending to go to the hospital to check on Zhao Ming's condition.

Just as he arrived at the hospital entrance, a sharp, scolding voice rang in his ears: "Don't move! Chen Yu, put your hands behind your head and lie face down on the ground!"

Chen Yu turned his head and saw a person wrapped up tightly pointing a pistol at him.

Although he couldn't see the other person's face clearly, Chen Yu could tell from the voice that the other person was Feng Xinran, a police officer from Anping Police Station.

Feng Xinran

When the extreme cold disaster struck, the police officers who came to arrest Chen Yu retreated to various parts of Anping to maintain order.

Feng Xinran voluntarily requested to stay in the Tianyu Group area, partly to appease the local people and partly to keep an eye on Chen Yu.

Chen Yu was both amused and exasperated. He hadn't expected that even at this point, Feng Xinran would still be clinging to him.

"Chen Yu! Don't try to fool me. Now, lie down on the ground immediately, or I will take action against you right now!" Feng Xinran said in a deep voice, her grip on the gun handle tightening.

Chen Yu didn't take it seriously. He walked up to Feng Xinran step by step and pressed his chest against the muzzle of the gun.

With a mocking expression, he said, "Officer Feng, it's over minus 50 degrees Celsius now. Can your Type 92 pistol still fire bullets?"

"You...you scoundrel!" Feng Xinran was startled by Chen Yu's sudden action and took a few steps back, but the gun in her hand was still steadily pointed at him.

Then she questioned Chen Yu, "Why did you do that?"

"Why? Didn't I say back then that the apocalypse was coming, and it was irreversible? Now you've seen it yourself, I didn't lie to you. The extreme cold disaster has already arrived, and the world is undergoing tremendous changes. In the apocalypse, I need to have some means to protect myself, right?" Chen Yu said.

“That’s no excuse for killing someone,” Feng Xinran said coldly, her eyes filled with disappointment and anger towards Chen Yu.

"I have my reasons for killing him," Chen Yu said calmly. He had no intention of explaining to Feng Xinran, nor was there any need to.

He knew that Feng Xinran couldn't fire a gun, and that she was incapable of doing so. The minimum operating temperature for a Type 92 pistol was around -40 degrees Celsius, but it was now over -50 degrees Celsius, so it would be strange if she could even fire a bullet.

Even if Feng Xinran did pull the trigger and fire the bullet, he was wearing the latest nanotechnology bulletproof vest, and his mask was also bulletproof, so he was perfectly safe.

“You…I…” Feng Xinran was speechless. She really didn’t know what to do. From the bottom of her heart, she really didn’t want to make things difficult for Chen Yu, but as a police officer, her duty did not allow her to just watch Chen Yu leave.

Looking at Feng Xinran, who stood tall and spirited in the wind and snow, Chen Yu suddenly had a flash of inspiration and said, "Officer Feng, actually, your enemy right now shouldn't be me."

"What do you mean?" Feng Xinran asked, puzzled.

"Have you ever thought about why, two days after the natural disaster, no relief supplies have arrived yet? As far as I know, Zhongyang City has a grain depot with a storage capacity of 800,000 tons," Chen Yu said.

“What’s so strange about that? The grain depot in Zhongyang City is more than 40 kilometers away from Anping. With the weather so bad right now, it’s perfectly normal that relief supplies can’t be delivered in the short term,” Feng Xinran said.

Chen Yu shook his head and said, "You're wrong. I went to the Zhongyang City Grain Depot yesterday, and guess what I saw?"

"You actually went to such a far place yesterday?" Feng Xinran asked in surprise. In fact, she had been keeping watch over Chen Yu the whole time. Yesterday, she saw Chen Yu come out of the Shiban Mountain Tunnel, but when she chased after him, Chen Yu had already disappeared into the snowstorm.

But that's not the point right now. She continued, "What did you see?"

“I saw that the people from the Zhongmian Garrison Command have taken control of the grain depot. They have simple sleds, but they don’t seem to intend to send grain out. Instead, they are guarding the grain depot like bandits,” Chen Yu said.

"Impossible!" Feng Xinran categorically denied.

“Nothing is impossible.” Chen Yu shook his head slightly. “However, it’s not that the entire garrison has rebelled. As far as I know, it’s just a deputy commander named Liang Zheng causing trouble. Officer Feng, if your police force truly cares about the people, you should set things right and seize the grain depot.”

Seeing Feng Xinran staring blankly, Chen Yu laughed and said, "Hehe, of course, it would be difficult for your police force to quell the rebellion with just their weapons. But what if I could provide you with weapons? To give you specific instructions, please find some time to arrange a meeting with Director Qi, and I will discuss it with him personally."

“Uncle Liang isn’t that kind of person…” Feng Xinran murmured, looking bewildered.

Hearing Feng Xinran muttering to herself, Chen Yu exclaimed in surprise, "What did you say?"

"Uncle Liang? What's your relationship with Feng Zhengyang?"

Feng Xinran did not answer Chen Yu, but fell into deep thought, seemingly weighing the credibility of Chen Yu's words in her mind.

"Last night, I overheard Liang plotting to seize power, saying he wanted to kill Commander Liang. Sigh! A day has passed, I wonder how Commander Feng is doing now," Chen Yu said leisurely.

Upon hearing this, Feng Xinran immediately panicked: "My dad... Chen Yu, you have to take responsibility for what you said. You're lying to me, aren't you?"

Chen Yu spread his hands and said, "Anyway, that's what I heard Liang Zheng say. As for whether he's really going to take action or whether he and Commander Liang will emerge victorious, I don't know."

Chen Yu's words sent a chill down Feng Xinran's spine. She had never imagined that Uncle Liang, whom she trusted, would betray the entire garrison and the citizens, let alone harm her father, Commander Feng.
