Memory Pawn Shop

Memory Pawn Shop

The dungeon opened, and Yuheng walked into an old pawnshop alone. The only currency accepted here was lifespan.

He signed the contract without hesitation, exchanging his own forty years of life for a feather of light that carried "Yun Shuo's memories of him."

The pawnshop owner warned him: "With the memory returning, the price will also return. Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Sure." Yu Heng answered firmly.

Back in reality, Yun Shuo had indeed recovered his memory. The two hugged each other tightly, and all the pain seemed to disappear.

However, the price soon became apparent: Yuheng began to age rapidly, his eyesight blurred, and his physical strength declined.

Yun Shuo soon discovered the truth. He looked at the contract and said in a trembling voice, "You spent forty years... in exchange for a memory of mine?"

"It's worth it." Yu Heng just said calmly.

They entered the "Memory Pawn Shop" again, hoping to get back their lost lifespan, but were told that they could only exchange it with "equivalent pain."

Yun Shuo resolutely signed the new contract, endured the same pain as Heng, and bought him ten more years of life.

When the two men left the pawn shop, they were both covered in bruises, but their hands were clenched even tighter.

"From now on, you are not allowed to carry it alone." Yun Shuo said softly.

"Okay, we'll carry it together." Yu Heng replied with a smile.

The countdown begins, and the next instance, "City Without Lights," is about to begin. They know the road ahead will be even more difficult, but they have learned to face it together.

City without Lights

They were thrown into a city without any light source.

【rule:

1. After midnight, the city enters a "dark period" and any attempt to create light will attract the "night patrol."

2. During the dark period, you will hear the voice you want to hear the most, please do not follow it.

3. Before dawn, the "heart fire" must be put into the "lighthouse", otherwise the city will be extinguished forever.

4. “Heart fire” can only come from living people.

Yun Shuo immediately realized that Rule Four meant they had to pay the price with their lives.

As midnight approached, the darkness rang with the sounds they longed for most—Yun Shuo's mother's call and the laughter of Yu Heng's childhood friend. They were seduced almost simultaneously, but thanks to the "three-second rule" they had agreed upon beforehand, they barely managed to wake up.

In order to find the "lighthouse", they could only rely on touch and smell to grope in the darkness. On the way, they were attacked by the "night watchman".

In order to protect Yun Shuo, Yu Heng's shoulder was torn by a claw, and blood flowed out. Yun Shuo held back his tears and bandaged him with a cloth.

Finally, they found the "lighthouse." On the stone tablet in front of the tower was written: "One person lights the lamp, and the other shows the way."

Yun Shuo understood: the person who "lights the lamp" must offer his "heart fire", and the person who "points the way" must always stay in the darkness to lead the way for those who come after him.

They all want to take it on themselves.

"I'll go light the lamp."

"I'll go light the lamp."

The two spoke at the same time and fell silent at the same time.

In the end, Yuheng pinned Yunshuo to the ground and forcibly pushed his "heart fire" into the lighthouse.

"Yuheng!" Yun Shuo cried heartbreakingly.

The lighthouse lit up instantly, and the outline of the city appeared in the darkness. But Yu Heng's figure began to become transparent.

"Listen," Yu Heng said weakly, "I will show you the way in the dark. Remember, three seconds."

【Clearance conditions have been met.】

[Reward: Yun Shuo—Life Point +1, Fragment +1.]

[Punishment: Yu Heng—Falling into the "Dark Layer."]

Yun Shuo was teleported back to reality, while Yu Heng stayed in the lightless city forever, becoming a ray of light to guide those who came later.
