Chapter 9 Chapter 9 starts.
Che Xiaoli and Dalong were tinkering with the operating table.
Tao Ying struggled a few times, but the rope was too tight and she couldn't get free at all. She simply gave up and sat there watching.
She knew her two ancestors... no, colleagues, too well. She knew without thinking what the outcome of their conspiracy to steal Hengwo would be.
Che Xiaoli worked on hardware, so she had no idea how to operate a cockpit. Dalong worked on both hardware and software, but wasn't very proficient in either.
Their plan was probably to drive Hengwo away near Changhe Star and then jump to a nearby galaxy.
Changhe Star is located in the most remote star field of the third galaxy and lacks police force. The starship will dock there for about fifteen minutes.
According to common sense, it is indeed the most suitable place to take Hengwo away.
But Che Xiaoli and the others didn't know that there was something wrong with Hengwo's mental power module and it couldn't be started.
It is almost impossible to transport a huge, immovable block of iron.
Sure enough, Che Xiaoli was busy operating for a long time, but Heng Wo didn't move at all.
Fifteen minutes later, the starship left the Changhe Star Port.
And Heng I still stayed steadily in the cargo hold of the starship.
“Ahhh!”
Che Xiaoli messed up her hair and almost hit her head on the operating table.
"What should I do? Why can't I activate Heng? Doesn't it love me anymore?"
"It never loved you in the first place," Dalong said calmly. "What should we do now? It seems the machine can't start because of a lack of fuel. Changhe Star is where the police force is the sparsest. If we miss this opportunity, it will be even more difficult to transport Hengwo."
"Who should I ask if you ask me? I'm not the boss, and I really don't know how to use this broken system. How about you use a spirit to call the boss out right now?"
"I'm not psychic."
Tao Ying: “…”
I told them to watch less of the Spark Science series. "There's nothing we can do. Perhaps Heng and I are destined to be destroyed today. We did our best."
Che Xiaoli was about to give up, but when she turned around, she saw two older women and a little girl tied up tightly in the corner. She thought for a while and squatted in front of the three of them.
She first spoke to the two security ladies.
"Just pretend that what happened here today never happened. If the people above knew that you were tied up by two outsiders, it wouldn't do you any good, right?"
Although Che Xiaoli said this, she did not untie their ropes. Seeing that the two security guards did not say anything, but glared at her fiercely, she shrank back.
"I've heard that Mr. Bai's style is stubborn, but I didn't expect that even his security guards are like this."
After thinking for a moment, she untied the rope on Tao Ying.
Tao Ying's first words were:
"So you're giving up just like that?"
"Then there are other ways...why am I telling you this?"
Che Xiaoli looked Tao Ying up and down.
"You're a student, aren't you? Going to Lehmen?"
Tao Ying nodded: "Leimen University."
"She's still a junior, and she seems to be quite smart."
Researcher Che tapped Tao Ying on the forehead.
"Schoolgirl, don't talk without thinking. What else can we do? Some things can't be solved."
"Alas, when I was at the Laiji Institute, whenever I encountered a bug I couldn't solve, I'd throw it to my boss. She always came up with a solution. I don't know how she did it."
"Maybe it's the boss's mysterious magic."
If overtime is considered magic, then that's probably it.
Ten years after returning, our ancestors are still our ancestors.
Tao Ying reluctantly untied the ropes on her body and felt her breathing became smoother. Only then did she have the energy to discuss a solution with Che Xiaoli.
"I have a solution, but I need your help."
Che Xiaoli didn't quite believe what she said about "there being a way", but now there was nothing she could do but give it a try.
She asked, "Help with what?"
"Help me get the computer first."
Che Xiaoli grumbled, "At such a young age, she's already ordering the senior around. Isn't she right there? These days, the junior girls are really..."
Before Che Xiaoli could finish her words, Tao Ying tilted her head, revealing the interface of her wrist-mounted computer. Her heart rate had dropped to a terrifying level.
Whose good person has a resting heart rate of 35?!
The light in the cockpit was dim, and she had not looked closely at Tao Ying's face before. Only now did she realize that it was extremely pale.
"Oh my god, your heart rate is so low, I almost saw my milk." Che Xiaoli almost jumped up, "Could it be that I just hit your forehead?!"
"Born."
"Natural? How did you get into Lemen University with your physique?"
Che Xiaoli kept muttering to herself, but her hands did not stop as she quickly moved Tao Ying to a place with more ventilation.
"Why didn't you tell me you were not feeling well?"
Tao Ying picked up the glove that had just been stuffed into her mouth, shook it, and raised her eyebrows.
"You guys were so quick that you blocked my mouth. Did I even have a chance to speak?"
You don't know how to turn off the surveillance camera, but you two are quite skilled at kidnapping people.
Only after both researchers turned their heads away guiltily did Tao Ying throw the glove that was blocking her mouth into Che Xiaoli's arms.
Tao Ying didn't continue to dwell on this point. After all, it was not the time to do this. She took the computer handed to her by Che Xiaoli and connected the mental power module.
The operation was very skillful, as if he had done this countless times, leaving the two researchers from the Laiji Institute stunned.
Che Xiaoli whispered, "She seems to be serious."
Dalong didn't know why Che Xiaoli suddenly spoke in a low voice, but in such a quiet occasion, he couldn't help but lower his voice naturally: "Maybe she has participated in a similar mecha project before."
"At this age?! When I was fifteen, I was still scribbling on the walls and got my parents called in!"
"That's your problem." "Hey."
Tao Ying ignored their non-tense whispered conversation and brought the topic back on track.
"Do you know why Bai's Industries wants to destroy Hengwo?"
"Who knows?"
Che Xiaoli got angry when she talked about this.
"I entrusted the machine to Bai's Industries after they promised me that Hengwo would be brought back to life. Who knew they'd actually destroy Hengwo now?"
Tao Ying nodded.
"I understand your feelings, but the Bai family probably didn't lie. They've invested a lot in Hengwo over the years. They've been able to hold off on destroying it until this year, which is already quite good."
"What's the meaning?"
"There's a rule within the Bai family that if a mecha can't be put into use for several years after it's completed, it must be destroyed," Tao Ying said casually, her hand sweeping across a row of buttons. "About ten years."
"Wait, you mean, Hengwo is facing destruction because it can't be started?"
"yes."
"How could it not start? Wasn't it working fine before? We've almost finished debugging. With the parts burned in the fire, replacing them is no problem at all with Bo's technology!"
Tao Ying paused for a moment, called up the engineer log interface, and explained it to them again.
"I haven't studied the specifics in detail yet, but according to the debug logs, Heng I have modified the hardware countless times. The researchers at Bai's suspect it might be a system-level issue..."
"That's it," Che Xiaoli scratched his head irritably. "The boss is in charge of the system. I can't do it. What about you, Dalong?"
"I only understand some basic concepts and can't operate them."
"What should we do now? Didn't you just say you had a solution?"
Researcher Che spread his hands, his mind half-dead. He looked at Tao Ying with an expression that said, "You better think of something quickly."
Tao Ying leaned against the wall, the light from the computer screen casting a pale blue glow in her eyes. The data on the screen was constantly changing, and her eyes moved left and right, studying the data intently.
The system passed internal debugging and there were no problems. Bai's Industry did not make any major changes to the system, but only made slight adjustments to her data from that year - this was to match the new parts that were replaced.
Although Baishi Industry is relatively weak in terms of systems, its coding style is stable.
Tao Ying compared the hardware data and focused on the modified parts data.
……Um?
"Che Xiaoli, do you remember the size of the First Energy Core?"
"Uh, huh? 728.22mm?"
"model?"
"GWEI4532."
"Wrong."
Researcher Che jumped up and said, "What? How could I be wrong? I remember every piece of hardware data of Heng clearly!"
"There's a problem with the data in the system. The part has been replaced with GWEI4632."
"Ah..." Che Xiaoli's brows were almost wrinkled. "The 4532 has been discontinued. It's now replaced by the 4632. I remember the size hasn't changed, but it seems the material has been changed to stronger T6 metal. This shouldn't have any impact, right?"
"Yes," Tao Ying sighed, "Although it's not apparent from the outside, the core compatibility is different. 4632 and Hengwo's mental modules conflict, so they're not suitable for use on a perceptual mecha."
The engineers at Baishi Industries probably missed this point.
"So what should we do?"
Tao Ying spread his hands and said, "Forget about the fuel. I guess you probably won't find tricky parts like the energy core on a starship, right?"
"You guessed right. Even if you order this from StarNet, it'll take a month for it to arrive."
Tao Ying stood up by holding on to the wall and walked to the operating screen.
"Then there's nothing we can do. Let's shut down its first core first, bypass the data, and try using the other three cores."
Che Xiaoli turned around and tapped Dalong's biceps, whispering, "Heng, I have four energy cores, each of which can be used independently. Maybe it will work?"
Dalong shook his head. "It's not as simple as you think. If Hengwo is to be activated using a single core, it will require a very high level of mental strength from the pilot. Even if we can write a bypass program and solve the compatibility problem, with the mental strength of the three of us present, we won't be able to activate Hengwo."
In this case, my mental driving requirement is A-level - but not absolute.
Tao Ying tapped the laptop with her index finger.
"The lowest level of core activation only requires B-level mental power. You just need to leave a record of the activation. The researchers at Bai's Industries will take care of the rest."
Che Xiaoli asked suspiciously, "Core activation? There's such a thing? Are you sure it can work?"
"This is common sense among mecha engineers."
After thinking for a while, the two former researchers from the Laiji Institute confirmed the feasibility of this plan.
So now as long as I wait for my "schoolmate" to write the bypass program, I won't be destroyed, and today's work will be successfully completed?
It went so smoothly, it was as if the boss's spirit in heaven was blessing them in secret.
Researcher Che had no idea that their boss was sitting next to her, sighing that God was helping her.
Dalong's shoulders were slightly tense, his expression still serious. He leaned one hand on the operating table and studied Tao Ying's procedure.
Her coding style is very... mature and concise. No problems at all.
Dalong was silent for a moment, then glanced at Tao Ying's wrist-mounted computer, which displayed a heart rate that was like a roller coaster. He whispered, "How long will it take to finish writing the bypass program? Bai's security is about to patrol. Do we need to distract them?"
Tao Ying smiled slightly.
"No, it will be over soon."
