Su Wan's words were like a bucket of cold water poured on Shen Baiyan. She said, "I took your money, so naturally I won't watch you fall into Jiang Jinyu's trap. So why did you refuse this business?"
Shen Baiyan said truthfully: "I think this business is unethical. 'Learning machines' should not be a necessity for children. Electronic products have a great deal of harm to teenagers. Nowadays, more and more children are becoming nearsighted at a young age, which is closely related to electronic products. Moreover, these products are not cheap. It's fine if parents are willing to do it, but once it goes through the education bureau, parents will be forced to do it 'voluntarily'."
Su Wan echoed his words: "Indeed, as parents, although we are very dissatisfied with some aspects of the teachers and the school, we are all ordinary people with no power or influence, so how dare we challenge the teachers and the school? The child's education is a major event for the family, and for the sake of the child, parents have no choice but to grit their teeth and 'submit' to the school. This is the tragedy of education today."
As she spoke, she looked intently at the man in front of her and said very sincerely, "Shen Baiyan, I admire you. Although you are a businessman, you have a conscience. I believe that a businessman with a conscience will surely have a thriving business."
Shen Baiyan's gloomy mood suddenly brightened because of Su Wan's praise. He smiled and looked at Su Wan with burning eyes: "I'll take this as a compliment."
Su Wan did not deny it: "Yes, I'm praising you."
Shen Baiyan thought of something else and said, "Su Wan, there's something else that I find strange."
Su Wan asked, "What is it?"
Shen Baiyan said, "A month ago, the Japanese wanted to do business with me, but I refused. After that, they approached Jiang Jinyu, who also refused. Today, Jiang Jinyu suddenly asked me why I didn't sell that piece of land to that Japanese. Could something else happen after that incident?"
Su Wan was unaware of this matter; Gu Chu hadn't told her. However, Su Wan believed that anything related to the Japanese was never a good thing, so she tacitly agreed.
"Yes, you did the right thing. No matter what happens, you shouldn't do business with the Japanese." Su Wan said succinctly, without giving Shen Baiyan the answer he wanted to hear.
Undeterred, Shen Baiyan asked bluntly, "What will happen?"
Su Wan didn't know what would happen. At this moment, she couldn't call Gu Chu again, because Shen Baiyan could easily find out that the person who really knew the truth was not her, but Gu Chu. Then Gu Chu's secret of being reborn might not be kept.
Su Wan replied vaguely, "There's no need to talk about this. Didn't you already refuse?"
When Shen Baiyan saw that Su Wan was unwilling to tell him, he thought that Jiang Jinyu might refuse because he knew that the deal was also a trap. So how did Jiang Jinyu find out?
So he asked, "Does Gu Chu also know about that?"
Su Wan nodded: "Yes, I told her."
In the current situation, no matter what, Su Wan must convince Shen Baiyan that she has told Gu Chu everything she knows, so that Gu Chu can be considered safe.
Sure enough, Shen Baiyan had no doubts after hearing this. He asked curiously, "Does Gu Chu like Jiang Jinyu?"
Upon hearing this, Su Wan immediately denied it: "Impossible! Chu Chu must have made a deal with Jiang Jinyu using that matter."
Jiang Jinyu and Shen Baiyan are rivals, and she cannot let Shen Baiyan misunderstand the relationship between Gu Chu and Jiang Jinyu, just in case.
Shen Baiyan stood up and walked towards Su Wan. He sat down next to Su Wan and looked at her intently: "Since Gu Chu can use your 'ability' to make deals, why don't you do the same?"
Su Wan didn't know what Shen Baiyan meant by asking that question, but she was sure it wasn't anything good.
"That's none of your business! Alright, I've said what I needed to say, goodbye!"
She became a little impatient with the questions and got up to leave.
"Wanwan." Shen Baiyan suddenly called out to her.
Su Wan was taken aback by these words, then immediately realized what they meant and angrily retorted, "Don't call me that, I don't like it!"
Shen Baiyan stood up, blocking her way and looking down at her: "Are you still angry with me?"
Su Wan, who had been looking down, suddenly raised her head and looked him straight in the eye: "No, why would I be angry with you? I won't get angry with irrelevant people. I just don't want to hear anyone say bad things about Chu Chu. I know you doubt Chu Chu and look down on her, but don't forget, she is my only family member and the most important person to me right now!"
Su Wan's eyes were full of determination and stubbornness. Shen Baiyan realized that he had touched a nerve. He explained, "I don't look down on her. Jiang Jinyu is not a good person. I just hope you stay away from him."
Su Wan said irritably, "This is our business, you don't need to worry about it!"
Seeing that Su Wan was still angry because he had questioned Gu Chu earlier, Shen Baiyan changed the subject: "Okay, let's not talk about others, let's talk about ourselves."
Su Wan didn't accept his show of weakness: "Myself? I have nothing to talk to you about."
Shen Baiyan said, "Su Wan, I know you care about me, otherwise you wouldn't have come to find me just because of Jiang Jinyu's words."
"Don't flatter yourself. I told you I only came to you because I felt guilty about taking your money. I won't do it again." Su Wan said this insincerely and hurriedly left Shen Baiyan.
Seeing Su Wan's resolute departure, Shen Baiyan couldn't help but kick the coffee table in anger.
"Bang!"
The milk glass on the coffee table was shaken and fell onto the carpet, splashing milky white liquid onto the edge of the leather four-seater sofa.
He looked down at the fallen milk glass, and a sense of disappointment flickered in his eyes as he thought that Su Wan hadn't drunk a drop.
He bent down, picked up the glass, and threw it into the trash can under his desk. Then he dialed the internal hotline: "Xu Han, come in here for a moment!"
