Su Wan stopped where Gu Chu couldn't see her.
"Okay, that's enough. I'm sorry I took advantage of you. I don't need anyone to keep me company. I just didn't want Chu Chu to worry."
Su Wan looked at Lu Beichuan somewhat embarrassedly and said.
When Lu Beichuan learned that Su Wan wasn't coming with him, he said, "That won't do. I just took you away in front of my brothers. If something happens to you, I won't be able to explain it."
“Then find me a hotel. I can manage on my own. You must have something important to do here, and I can’t hold you back,” Su Wan said.
Seeing Su Wan's persistence, Lu Beichuan had no choice but to agree: "Alright, then I'll find you a hotel and leave Jinghong here to protect you."
"This is not good..."
Before Su Wan could say her refusal, Lu Beichuan interrupted her.
"Don't rush to refuse. If you're unwilling, I'll still accompany you personally."
Su Wan didn't want to make things difficult for Lu Beichuan any further.
"Thank you!" Su Wan said with a smile.
"You're welcome. I promised Wu Yan I would take good care of you, and I took you away in front of Rong Shi. I have a great responsibility."
——
Gu Chu was about to get into the back seat when Rong Shi put her luggage there, leaving Gu Chu with no choice but to sit in the front passenger seat.
Rong Shi got into the car and suddenly moved closer to her. The two were so close that they could even feel each other's unique presence.
Gu Chu was stunned: "You...!"
"Seatbelt." Rong Shi said, reaching out to fasten her seatbelt.
Gu Chu then realized that she had misunderstood him.
Indeed, a piece of hardened steel wouldn't know how to flirt.
Rong Shi quickly fastened Gu Chu's seatbelt, sat her upright, and started the car.
The atmosphere inside the car remained quiet. Gu Chu glanced at the local specialties on the back seat through the rearview mirror.
"Your mom asked me to bring you some things, and she told me to bring them to you as soon as possible," Gu Chu explained.
Rong Shi's eyes twitched when he heard her speak.
"Actually, you can call her 'Auntie' in private."
After thinking about it carefully, Gu Chu said awkwardly, "Indeed, the term 'your mother' sounds a bit like an insult."
Rong Shi said, "That's not what I meant."
Gu Chu did not respond.
After a while, Rong Shi glanced at her and said, "Ms. Fang did it on purpose."
Gu Chu pursed her lips and said dryly, "I understand, the old man is eager to have a grandson."
Rong Shi reminded her: "Ms. Fang is very sensitive about people saying she looks old."
Gu Chu chuckled awkwardly, "It was my oversight. Auntie looks very young. Last time I went shopping with her, people who didn't know us thought she was my older sister."
Rong Shi frowned: "She's your sister, so what am I?"
Gu Chu: "......" This day is impossible to talk to!
The jeep was parked in the hotel parking space.
"I've booked a private room here," Rong Shi said, and was about to get out of the car.
"Wait a minute!" Gu Chu called out to him.
Rong Shi paused in his action of resting his hand on the handlebars, and turned to look at Gu Chu.
Gu Chu asked, "Can we get a refund for the private room?"
Rong Shi looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Gu Chu felt that she and Rong Shi didn't talk much to begin with, so being alone in a private room would be incredibly awkward.
So she made up an excuse: "It's just the two of us, so finding a restaurant wouldn't be bad."
The restaurant was crowded, so the two of them wouldn't end up staring at each other blankly.
Upon hearing this, Rong Shi retorted, "The restaurant is not as good as the canteen in our camp."
Gu Chu suddenly had a change of heart.
The camp cafeteria is pretty good too!
She smiled and said, "I don't mind going to your cafeteria."
Rong Shi was stunned again.
Gu Chu came here to deliver something to Rong Shi. After delivering the item, she would go back. Since Rong Shi had mentioned the camp canteen, she might as well go there, try the soldiers' meals, and take a look at where Rong Shi works.
A hint of joy flashed in Rong Shi's eyes: "I thought you didn't want to expose our relationship."
Gu Chu was amused by these words.
“We’ve already registered our marriage and met each other’s parents. It’s not a secret marriage, so why should I hide it?”
If she wanted to keep her marriage a secret, she would have agreed to Jiang Jinyu long ago. Why would it be Rong Shi's turn?
Rong Shi: "I'm glad you don't mind. I submitted a marriage application and left the camp for several days recently, so my comrades all know I'm married."
Rong Shi said, restarting the car.
A short while later, the vehicle arrived near the campsite.
Xiao Yating saw Rong Shi's car from afar and chased after it, calling out, "Brother Shi! Brother Shi!"
Gu Chu saw a girl chasing their car and said, "Stop the car!"
Rong Shi's car stopped, and Xiao Yating caught up breathlessly. When she saw Gu Chu sitting in the passenger seat, she loudly questioned, "Brother Shi, who is she!"
Before Rong Shi could speak, Gu Chu smiled and looked at him, saying, "I've never heard that you have a younger sister?"
Rong Shi succinctly stated: "She is Ms. Fang's next-door neighbor."
Neighbor?
Gu Chu immediately understood.
Xiao Yating angrily asked Gu Chu, "Who are you? Why are you with Brother Shi?"
Gu Chu looked at her and said calmly, "Little sister, you're still studying, aren't you? Go back, this isn't a place for you."
Hearing this, Xiao Yating became even angrier. She questioned, "Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to kick me out?"
Gu Chu looked at her with a bright smile: "I am your brother Shi's legal wife."
Xiao Yating was so shocked she could barely speak: "What! You...you guys..."
“Let’s go!” Gu Chu said.
Start the car at the appointed time.
Seeing the car drive away, Xiao Yating finally realized what had happened and hurriedly chased after it, loudly asking, "Brother Shi, she lied to me, didn't she? You're not married, are you...?"
