Chapter 30 Solemnity

Zhuang Yan was a very active kid from a young age, unlike his father Zhuang Maoxue who was very calm and composed.

I remember he was quite mischievous when he was in school, and Han Ming often saw him being scolded by his father at school.

Zhuang Maoxue is a physics teacher at the town's junior high school. The homeroom teacher often comes to him to complain about his son's mischievous behavior.

He couldn't save face, so when he got angry, he beat up that kid Zhuang Yan.

Maybe the more you beat a boy, the more successful he becomes. Zhuang Yan was admitted to a military academy after high school, and I heard that he has now graduated and been a professional soldier for several years.

Teacher Zhuang and Aunt Zhao are quite proud of this.

Zhuang Yan is a year younger than Han Ming, or strictly speaking, only a few months younger. So they were in the same grade in elementary and middle school, and even in the same class in middle school.

Although that kid was mischievous, he got along well with Han Ming; the two were best friends back then.

Since they went to different high schools and then different universities, the two of them don't have many opportunities to meet now, except when they go home to visit their families during holidays.

Fortunately, with the advanced communication methods available today, Han Ming and Han Ming can contact each other every now and then, and their brotherly relationship remains quite stable.

As Han Ming rode his bicycle, he thought about these past events and unknowingly arrived at Aunt Zhao's house.

Zhao Lihua's home is located on the south side of the village, near the river, where her husband Zhuang Maoxue's family has lived for generations.

It has now been renovated and is a two-story building.

A cement surface was poured in front of the door, and several peach trees were planted on the side facing the river. Han Ming saw that the trees were full of peaches, and some branches could not support the weight and were almost pressed to the surface of the water.

Seeing that the front door was open, Han Ming figured someone must be home, so he parked his electric scooter under the eaves and went inside. He called out to Aunt Zhao, but no one answered.

Han Ming found it strange that the door was open but no one was home. Wasn't he afraid of a thief breaking in?

Hearing faint sounds of a television coming from the inner room, Han Ming knocked on the door and pushed it open. He was surprised to see who was sitting inside and exclaimed:

"What are you doing at home, kid?" The person inside asked when they saw Han Ming. "Brother Ming? What brings you here?"

That's right, the man in the house is none other than Zhuang Yan, Han Ming's best friend from childhood. But why did this kid come home instead of being in the army? Is he here to visit his family?

Or is he just coming back for a blind date? Han Ming thought to himself, it seems that Aunt Zhao is quite concerned about her son's marriage.

When Zhuang Yan saw Han Ming asking him a question, he became a little embarrassed, and a blush rose on his dark face.

When Han Ming saw him like this, he was sure that this guy had come back for a blind date.

But what Zhuang Yan said next surprised Han Ming.

"Hehe, Ming-ge, I've retired from the military." Zhuang Yan seemed a little embarrassed.

"What?" Han Ming was extremely surprised: "You were doing just fine in the army, why did you leave?"

"Hehe, Ming-ge, it's a long story. Don't ask me now. My parents scolded me half the night yesterday. I'll tell you about it later."

Zhuang Yan seemed reluctant to speak.

Do your parents know?

Han Ming still wanted to ask.

“When I came back yesterday, they must have known. Otherwise, how could they have criticized me until midnight?”

Zhuang Yan got up and poured Han Ming a glass of water.

"I find this very strange. How could you just leave the army like that without me knowing? You didn't even tell me about this!"

Han Ming was getting a little anxious, thinking to himself, "What's wrong with this guy? He's gone too far with his willfulness."

Leaving my original company was unavoidable, but Zhuang Yan was doing well in the military, so why come back? These days, the benefits in the military are quite good.

Zhuang Yan noticed Han Ming's anxious expression and thought he should talk to his brother about it, otherwise he wouldn't be able to get married. Anyway, Han Ming was a close friend, so there was no harm in talking to him.

It turns out that Zhuang Yan was a communications soldier in the army, which is considered quite good compared to other branches of the military.

Crucially, male and female signal corps soldiers frequently compete and train together.

Comparatively speaking, this is a pretty good military experience for young men and women.

But things went wrong in this interaction between men and women.

He was a solemn graduate of a military academy, and was also very handsome, with a dignified appearance. When he put on his military uniform, he could indeed be described as heroic and extraordinary.

After graduation, I was a lieutenant. After working hard for a few more years, I became a deputy company commander.

However, Zhuang Yan fell in love with a female soldier, who turned out to be the daughter of an official and had complicated relationships with some people in the military.

As a result, his superiors made things difficult for him at every turn, leaving Zhuang Yan feeling helpless. In a fit of anger, he submitted his discharge report.

Normally, military academy graduates need to serve a certain number of years before they can be transferred to civilian work, and even if they don't need military placement, they still occupy a quota for transfer allocation.

Fortunately, Zhuang Yan had a former superior who mediated the situation, allowing him to escape.
