The next morning, Zhao Lihua and Zhuang Yan arrived at Han Ming's house. Han Ming noticed that Zhuang Yan's father, Zhuang Maoxue, was following behind them.
Han Ming guessed that Teacher Zhuang was worried about his wife and son and had escorted them all the way. Looking at the way he looked at Zhuang Yan, he was still somewhat annoyed.
Han Ming understood that after something like this happened, Teacher Zhuang needed some time to process it.
Once Zhuang Yan makes a name for himself, this matter will no longer bother Teacher Zhuang.
Zhao Lihua's expression seemed normal enough. It seemed that the two nights had helped this cheerful Aunt Zhao to let go of a lot of her worries. Han Ming looked at her and seemed quite happy.
Zhao Lihua instructed Zhuang Yan to put down the gifts he was holding and go to the inner room to visit Han Ming's father, Han Baili.
Han Ming's mother, Chen Fang, felt embarrassed, thinking that Zhuang Yan had come home from the army to visit his family and had even brought gifts, so she warmly made tea and offered fruit to the group.
The group chatted with Han Baili for a while. Han Baili was a little surprised to learn that Zhuang Yan had also gone to the provincial capital with Han Ming.
However, I just assumed that the military had a long leave this time and that I could take the opportunity to go to the provincial capital for some fun and relaxation, so I didn't ask any further questions.
Zhao Lihua checked with Han Ming again what they needed to bring, such as the factory's official seal and the legal representative's seal.
Seeing that Han Ming was already prepared, and noticing that it was getting late, the three of them decided to set off.
When Han Baili and Zhuang Maoxue saw that two young men were accompanying Zhao Lihua, they weren't worried at all.
They simply told their children to be careful when going out and not to cause trouble, and Han Ming and Zhuang Yan readily agreed.
Han Baili had difficulty moving around, so Zhuang Maoxue and Chen Fang took the three of them to the station.
Han Ming thought his mother was being too formal; it wasn't like she was going to some kind of congress, so why the whole send-off ceremony?
But Chen Fang didn't think so. Her son was now doing something important to save the factory, and it was worth sending him off.
After getting on the bus and saying goodbye to his mother and Zhuang Maoxue, the three of them sat down. The long-distance bus station in the county was not far away, and they arrived after sitting for a while.
Zhuang Yan got off the bus and ran downstairs to buy tickets. The three of them waited in the waiting room for a while before boarding the bus bound for the provincial capital.
The bus to the provincial capital takes at least an hour and a half. Zhao Lihua is getting on in years, so she closed her eyes and took a nap after getting on the bus and sitting down.
I guess I haven't been sleeping well these past two nights because of my son.
Zhuang Yan was quite energetic, constantly looking around at both sides of the highway, and occasionally discussing with Han Ming where this place was and where that place was.
Han Ming knew this road very well, so he chatted with Zhuang Yan casually.
When the three arrived in Dongning City, the provincial capital, it was almost lunchtime.
As soon as he got off the car, Zhuang Yan said that Dongning City truly lived up to its reputation as the provincial capital; its grandeur was undeniable. Just look at the long-distance bus station—it was built with such imposing presence.
Han Ming laughed at him for being so naive, saying he'd been here before and was acting like a country bumpkin in the city. Zhuang Yan chuckled to himself.
Upon exiting the station, Han Ming was surprised to find Dong Xiaolu standing there, thinking to himself, "This girl doesn't even want to go to work anymore?"
We agreed on the phone last night to meet at a place this afternoon, so why are you picking them up at the bus station now?
However, since he was already there, Han Ming was quite happy. Dong Xiaolu also noticed Han Ming and Zhao Lihua and came over with a smile to greet them.
Zhuang Yan already knew from Han Ming that Ming had a girlfriend, and he was quite envious.
Seeing how beautiful Ming's girlfriend is now, I can hardly believe it. She's as beautiful as a female celebrity. Ming's life is just too good.
Han Ming, seeing Zhuang Yan staring blankly, joked:
"Zhuang Yan, what are you daydreaming about? Quickly call someone."
Reminded by Han Ming, Zhuang Yan didn't think much of it and shouted out in a carefree manner:
"Hello, sister-in-law."
Dong Xiaolu felt a little embarrassed by Zhuang Yan's address and lightly nudged Han Ming, scolding him for being nosy. However, she still greeted Zhuang Yan generously.
Han Ming told Dong Xiaolu on the phone last night that he was going to bring his good brother to Dongning.
So Dong Xiaolu wasn't surprised to see this boy who was about the same height as Han Ming.
She thought he was good-looking, but his skin was a bit dark. She still thought her boyfriend was more pleasing to the eye.
Dong Xiaolu knew Zhao Lihua, and seeing that everyone had arrived, she wanted to lead a few people to have a meal first, as a welcome dinner.
Han Ming took the opportunity to ask Dong Xiaolu why she didn't mention it on the phone last night, but came to the station to pick him up herself today.
Unexpectedly, Dong Xiaolu turned her head to look at him and said something.
"What? I'm picking up my own boyfriend, it's none of your business?"
These words, coupled with his girlfriend's playful expression, left Han Ming speechless.
For lunch, Dong Xiaolu arranged a rather stylish restaurant located at the foot of a very tall building.
Han Ming recognized the place; it was a high-end establishment, a large hotel in the city center.
Now, not only Han Ming felt embarrassed, but even Zhao Lihua kept saying that Dong Xiaolu was too polite and that a simple meal would suffice; there was no need to go to such a high-class place.
Han Ming felt embarrassed because when his girlfriend came to see him, he had taken her to an ordinary coffee shop and they ate at an ordinary farmhouse restaurant.
Comparing the two, even Han Ming, whose skin had recently thickened, felt a little embarrassed.
Dong Xiaolu didn't mind at all, saying that since they were in Dongning City, she, Dong Xiaolu, was the host. Besides, they were all family, and since it was a rare opportunity for them to come to Dongning, she had to take good care of them.
Dong Xiaolu also said that her accommodation had been arranged, on the 17th floor of the building where the restaurant is located.
