Chapter 12 Fishing by the Lake: Beauty Leads to Deception

Chapter 12 Fishing by the Lake: Beauty Leads to Deception

"What deal?" Airland asked warily.

“My light magic can provide sunlight energy to the two pots of fluorescent sneezing grass. In exchange, you can provide them with moonlight energy using the moonlight magic of the Mist Moon Elf. With the starlight of the night, they will surely grow into the most robust fluorescent sneezing grass.” Ancia clenched her fist. So what if it’s an elective course? The King of Scoundrels even takes elective GPAs.

"Although I don't like you, your suggestion is not bad." After a brief moment of thought, Airan agreed immediately.

The Misty Moon Elves will not refuse plant-friendly offers, especially from Elran.

To show her sincerity, Ancia first fed some pure light energy into Erlan's flowerpot. The effect was remarkable; the soil loosened slightly, and a little green sprout peeked out.

"That's enough. The sunlight energy has reached its limit. It can't handle any more." Airland stared intently at the flowerpot and stopped it in time.

The bright golden light dissipated, and Ancia stopped at the right moment. She didn't know much about the characteristics of magical plants, while Erlan was more professional in this regard. Although his personality was terrible, she had to admit that the Mist Moon Elf was a natural expert in plants.

Following the same method, the seeds in Ancia's own flowerpot also grew to the same extent.

Ancia looked openly at the other students at her table. For the time being, no one had surpassed their group's progress, which was good.

While the students were cultivating the fluorescent sneezing grass, Yesika talked about the habits of the variants and close relatives of the fluorescent sneezing grass. Her language was witty and humorous, and even Ancia, who knew nothing about it, was drawn into the magical world of plants. She absorbed the knowledge like a sponge, and was still eager for more when get out of class ended.

Anciya organized the notes she had quickly taken during class, her gaze focused.

"Hey, you really like plants?" Airland didn't call her by name, but he was clearly speaking to Ancia.

“Not really? I love this magical world, and magical plants are part of it,” Ancia said honestly.

Aerlan chuckled ambiguously. If she went along with what he said, then she was after his beauty; if she didn't, then she was trying to get his attention.

"Ancia?" A familiar voice, tinged with surprise, said, "You..."

Ancia quickly looked up, her smile warm, "Heli! What brings you here?"

Heligaluo's azure eyes curved slightly as he looked at his only two friends. "I was going to introduce you two, but it seems you've already met and are getting along well?"

"Not familiar with it."

"Not familiar with it."

Two different voices spoke in unison.

Ancia's eyes widened. "Heli, the friend you're talking about is him?"

The disbelief in her tone was so obvious that Airland said irritably, "Is there a problem? Why are you resorting to violence just because we disagree, Miss?"

Ancia sneered, "Why would someone as gentle as Heli be friends with you? Can't you speak properly, sir?"

Heligalo rubbed his knuckles against his nose and wisely kept his mouth shut; it was best not to speak when two friends were bickering.

Ancia had finished organizing her notes. She picked up her flowerpot and said curtly, "See you tonight at Villa No. 11 by Moon Lake."

When she spoke to Heli, her voice became natural and friendly again, "Heli, Lulu made some food that I wanted to eat, I'll be going now."

"See you later, Ancia." Heligaluo nodded slightly; he still had something to say to Ellan.

After Ancia left, Heligalo asked, "What happened? You don't seem to like Ancia very much."

Erlan was silent for a moment, then said with a hint of disappointment, "Heligalo, you've been bewitched by that wicked woman."

Heligaluo frowned in confusion. "Me? Mind control? Ancia? A bad woman?"

Erlan wasn't the type to talk behind people's backs, but in order to save his wayward friend, he had no choice but to do this evil deed: "I saw her embracing Murtrie by Moon Lake while she was also seeing you."

Heligaluo suppressed a laugh. "But Erlan, Ancia and I are not lovers; we are just friends. And what you see may not be the truth. Ancia is intelligent, brave, and studious; she is not what you think she is."

"Are you really just friends?" Erlan lowered his eyes, his emerald green eyes fixed on the patterns on the stone bricks on the ground.

“Really,” Heligalo said calmly.

Hearing Heligalo's answer, Erlan suddenly felt relieved, knowing that his dear friend had not fallen into the clutches of evil.

“Ellan, put aside your prejudices and get along with Ancia. You’ll like her. She has a lively and interesting free spirit, unlike us,” Heligalo said softly.

Aierlan's fine eyelashes trembled. "...I would never like her."

Heligalo knew that Ellan was not being sincere, so he said nothing, only smiled lightly, his azure eyes seeming to see through people's hearts.

Ancia left the villa after the moon rose, holding a flowerpot and gazing out at the lakeside. "They're not not coming, are they? Did they trick me into believing in the power of sunlight?"

Her whispered mutterings were overheard by the elf with exceptional hearing, who immediately retorted, "Who said I wasn't coming? You're the liar."

Ancia looked in the direction of the sound and spotted Ellan in the tree. "Are you a tree?"

“Yes,” Ellan said matter-of-factly, “Elves originally lived in trees.”

The elves have no parents; they are all transformed from the fruits of the Tree of Life in the Misty Moon Forest. Once the fruits ripen, they transform into young elves and fall to the ground.

Ancia was speechless and chose to skip the topic, holding up her flowerpot. "It's your turn to use your moonlight magic."

Erlan looked up at the moon that had just appeared. "Wait a little longer. The moonlight magic will be most effective when the moon reaches its highest point."

He is not a light elementalist; the Mist Moon Elf is only a wood elementalist. He can use moonlight magic only because of the favor of the Moon and Forest God. In order to give the Fluorescent Sneeze Grass the purest moonlight energy, Erlan has to wait until the moonlight is at its strongest.

“Oh, okay.” Ancia didn’t complain; it was all for the sake of cultivating the fluorescent sneezing grass.

Since she had to wait a while anyway, Ancia simply took out the fishing rod Lulu had prepared from her system inventory and started fishing without even baiting it.

It wasn't that Lulu was careless; when Lulu asked her if she wanted more bait, Ancia confidently refused.

In the game, you only need one fishing rod to fish; that's the game's design, and the design won't be wrong.

"You're not even using bait?" Airland's gaze towards her changed, as if she were looking at an idiot.

“No need, I never use bait when I fish.” Ancia flicked her fishing rod and cast it directly into the water.

"I'd like to see if you can... No way? You actually caught it?" Ellan's mocking voice suddenly stopped, and he jumped down from the tree in shock.

"Hmph, what did I tell you?" Anciya reeled in the fishing line, and a slug was jumping and wriggling on the hook.

Put it in the bucket at my feet. I'll use this fish to make Lulu's special spicy braised green bean sprouts with fish fillets and rich butter soup.

"Really? I'll give it a try too." Erlan chanted a spell, transforming the tree branch into a fishing rod, and cast the line while standing next to Ancia.

The two cast their lines at the same time, and in less than five minutes, Ancia caught another fish, while Erlan's fishing rod remained motionless.

“...It must be a coincidence,” Airland said firmly.

Five minutes later, Ancia caught another one.

“You… I’ll switch places with you.” Airan gripped the fishing rod tightly.

After switching positions, Ancia caught another fish within five minutes.

"Speak!" Kuroko, speak!

Ancia put her hands on her hips triumphantly.

Airlan squinted at the bottomless Moon Lake. "Could someone be hanging fish on your hook down there?"

To avoid admitting defeat, they can even come up with this kind of excuse. If you can't play, then don't play!

Ancia scoffed, "Wishful thinking? Does that mean you completely deny that this is my personal ability?"

Erlan put away his fishing rod. "I'm not fishing anymore. I'm going to start using Moonlight Magic."

Ancia also put away her fishing rod. She had never seen moonlight magic before. Although she had seen the plot description in the game when she followed Erlan's personal route, there was no difference between reading and witnessing it firsthand.

Under the moonlight, the silver-haired, green-eyed mist moon elf prayed with his right hand folded over his chest. The moonlight responded to his prayer, and silver threads fell from the sky, tenderly wrapping around his outstretched left hand. A gentle breeze blew his loose silver hair, and for a moment it was hard to tell whether what he held in his hand was moonlight energy or his own hair.

The scene before her was so beautiful it was like a painting. Ancia held her breath, staring blankly as Ellan divided the moonlight energy into two parts and gently wrapped them around the tender buds that had just sprouted a little stem.

The earnest and quiet mist moon elf has a unique charm; it is pure, fresh, natural, and vivid.

"What are you looking at?" Ellan suddenly turned his head and asked Ancia.

Having just finished praying, his mind was still calm, and his tone was unexpectedly peaceful.

Perhaps because the atmosphere was so pleasant, Ancia replied gently, "Look at you, you're very handsome."

Aerlan glared at her, her cheeks burning. Even if Heligalo said Ancia wasn't a bad woman, she was still a smooth-talking rogue.

Ancia was also regretting the words she had blurted out; she had been completely blinded by his good looks.

The fluorescent sneezing grass is still absorbing the moonlight threads. The faint glow unknowingly attracts many fireflies, who mistake it for the moon growing in the flowerpot. They fly around the threads, and fluorescent powder keeps falling from under their bodies into the flowerpot, where it is absorbed by the tender shoots and grows taller in an instant.

Ancia reached out her finger towards the flying fireflies, but what she gently touched was cool skin. She looked up in surprise and met the eyes of Ellan, who was squatting on the ground with her. The atmosphere became subtle.

"Thank you for your hard work. This is the second time this week. I don't need to give the fluorescent sneezing grass any more energy for now. I'm off." Picking up her flowerpot, Ancia stood up abruptly and hurried back to her villa.

Arlan recoiled from the warmth on the back of his hand, and only after Ancia left did he curiously touch the spot that had just been touched.

Is human body temperature always this hot?
