Chapter 30 The Light Mark Genius Ancia
Ancia and her companions stepped into the preparation area, and on the other side of the arena, she saw familiar cloaks.
...Now I understand why there were three assassins; those cloaked students wouldn't bother getting to know anyone else.
Gaia enthusiastically introduced the two teams: "Ladies and gentlemen, please note that the Red Team consists of a squad of three assassins. Since they prefer not to reveal their names, I will refer to them as Assassins Number One, Number Two, and Number Three during the match, arranged according to the height of their cloaks. In the last round, they set a record for the fastest kill. This round, they face the Blue Team's two Light-type and one Fire-type warrior. With Light and Darkness mutually restraining each other, who will prevail?"
Ailan: "I bet 1000 gold coins, the Light element wins."
Gaia's voice held a hint of grief and indignation, "Who would want to gamble such a huge amount with you! No, gambling is forbidden at Gracia Academy!"
The Magic Crystal Screen first displayed the environment for this round of the competition—the Shadow Forest.
Gaia: "Shadow Forest is a map specifically designed for the dark element. If no light is provided, Shadow Forest is almost completely dark, making it perfect for assassins to lurk. But if a light source appears, the dense forest creates countless shadows, each of which could be a springboard for an assassin. You never know which shadow they might emerge from. Ellan, do you still think the blue team has a better chance of winning?"
Airland: "Of course."
The audience in the stands basically thought the same as Gaia, especially those who had watched the previous round of the competition. The wonderful moment when the three assassins appeared at the same time was amazing, taking down the enemy's light mage in less than a second.
"The blue team won't win this time, will they? Although light and darkness are mutually restraining, the current environment is completely in favor of the assassins."
"In the last round, the Holy Son took advantage of the Sun Valley's environment; it's hard to say this time."
"What's so hard to say? Even a three-star Light Mage's Light Shield couldn't survive, so how could a two-star Priest possibly create a miracle?"
"Is the 1000 gold coin bet from the commentator still up? Do you have his/her contact information so I can earn some pocket money?"
...
The teachers' seats and the noble seats were adjacent to each other. It was rare for the teachers, who usually went their own way, to gather together. Even the mysterious dean appeared in the stands.
The dean's face was still obscured by the drifting nebula. "Cheryl, which side do you think will win?"
Cheryl: "Ancia."
The dean seemed to smile, then asked another person, "And you, Murtrie?"
Merri: "Ancia."
Cheryl frowned at him. "Ancia is my apprentice. Don't you support your student?"
"Ancia is also my student," Murtrie said calmly.
Sherily immediately became wary of him; was this man trying to steal her apprentice?
The dean's light, ethereal laughter suppressed the escalating tension. "Alright, the competition begins."
The mental connection descended upon the arena, and Ancia only opened her eyes after hearing the sound of Heligalo waking up.
"Did I really open my eyes? Why is it so dark?" Ancia asked, puzzled.
“The Shadow Forest is an area in the Monster Mountain Range that is close to the demon territory, so it’s normally this dark.” Skark’s vertical pupils widened and rounded in the darkness, and his night vision was unimpeded in the Shadow Forest.
"Holy Light." Heligaluo's voice rang out, illuminating a ten-meter radius around his staff.
After a while, Ancia finally got used to the current lighting.
The three of them stood still, not moving, with no more than three meters between each other.
According to the image displayed on the magic crystal screen, there were only the three of them in the current scene, and the three assassins blended perfectly into the darkness and shadows.
The trees in the dense forest were all dark, and the interwoven light and shadow created an eerie atmosphere.
Ancia held a two-star staff in her left hand and held her right hand outstretched, with three shimmering points of light appearing in her palm.
rustle.
A gust of wind suddenly swept through the dense forest, and the swaying branches cast swaying shadows on the ground.
Three points of light flew straight into the air, collided in three different directions, and turned into a thin halo that adhered to a certain place.
"They're here! Attacking the location of the mark!" Ancia said quickly.
"Ah, we've been discovered again." A cold voice rang out, and a cloak appeared where the halo was.
“I told you she’d find out.” A second cloak appeared.
“We can’t just go straight in, can we? We have to come up invisible.” The third cloak said calmly.
Without hesitation, Skulk gripped his scimitar and charged toward the nearest cloaked figure.
Gail: "A miracle! The blue team's priest located the three assassins directly! What is that point of light? Can a teacher explain it?"
The dean's voice echoed above the arena: "I think it's a kind of magic called the Mark of Light, which can mark enemies, but its main function is not to make assassins visible."
Gale: "Besides revealing, does this magic have any other effects?"
"Discipline - Judgment." Heligaluo's magic surged, and three beams of light struck the halo of the nearby assassins.
He instantly transformed into specks of light and vanished from the field.
Gail was shocked: "Cloak Number Three was instantly killed by a light-type attack! Even if a two-star Light Mage is fighting a two-star Assassin, and the Assassin has high attack and low defense, and there's an elemental advantage, he shouldn't be taken down in one hit! Could this be the effect of the mark that the Dean mentioned?"
Heligalo looked at Ancia in surprise, "What is this mark?"
“Attack the marked area to increase damage by 15%.” Ancia continued casting healing spells while explaining to Heligalo.
"Does it only work against dark-type enemies?" Heligalo asked.
“All of them.” Ancia said hurriedly, raising her hand to cast another healing spell on Skalk, who was currently exchanging blows with a three-star assassin.
The entire series!
The dean looked at the adjacent noble seats and asked, "Marshal Keton, what do you think of this skill?"
Field Marshal Keton coldly replied, "What works in battle is ineffective in war; grand wars never depend on individual strength."
The dean smiled. "Her mission is not in war."
Seemingly sensing the pressure, the two assassins on the field exchanged a glance, simultaneously removed their marked cloaks, and vanished into the darkness.
Skark retreated into the area illuminated by the holy light, staying by Ancia and Heligalo's side.
Two more points of light appeared in Ancia's hand. "Skark, look at the shooting star."
"Hmm?" Skark's gaze followed the floating specks of light, and he found that they seemed to have their own thoughts, flying around in the air like shooting stars.
“Shadow,” Heligalo prompted.
Gail: "Ms. Diana, could you please zoom in?"
Ellan: "Those aren't magical specks; they're tracking stars. They always pass through the shadows of trees in the dense forest, where assassins use shadow walking techniques."
Ancia kept releasing new stars, and in the end, the stars almost formed a human shape in the air.
Assassin: "..."
They emerged from the shadows, feeling resentful, and as they did so, they picked up their cloaks and put them on, preferring to be beaten with the marks on their faces rather than reveal their true appearance to others.
Before possessing absolute power, an assassin must not allow others to discover their distinctive features.
The assassins, unable to become invisible, were essentially fragile despite their high attack power. Under Ancia's healing, Skark disregarded his own health and focused solely on trading blows with the assassins. Heligalo's light-based attacks and controls made it extremely difficult for the assassins to advance. The battle did not last long, and they even breathed a sigh of relief when they were eliminated as light specks.
Gale: "A miracle has been created once again! Congratulations to the blue team for winning with their two-star priest Ancia, two-star light mage Herigalo, and three-star warrior Skark!"
Airland: "Congratulations Ancia, a well-deserved victory."
The students in the stands chanted Ancia's name, and the dean said to Cheryl, "Ancia is very good."
Cheryl: "She has always been very hardworking and very talented."
Merri nodded silently in agreement.
A soldier trotted up to the noble seats and whispered something to Marshal Keton. After listening, he stood up and said, "Dean, I have important matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave. I won't be watching the rest of the match."
The dean nodded. Nebula's veil obscured his movements, but the shifting position of the mage's robe collar confirmed that he was indeed nodding.
After severing the mental connection with the arena, a snow-white carrier pigeon flew to Heligaluo's side. Ancia moved Skalkra aside so that Heligaluo could view the important information sent by the Holy See.
Heligalo's expression remained unchanged as he put the note into his spatial necklace.
Ancia was still talking to Skark, "You saw the shooting star I promised to show you before the match, how was it?"
Skalk laughed heartily, "Ancia is amazing! How can you be so amazing? I knew you could do it."
Orcs have a relatively limited vocabulary, and Skark can only offer straightforward praise, but the sincerity and affirmation in his words carry a great deal of weight.
Ancia was quite pleased, saying, "Call me genius Ancia."
Skalk immediately obeyed, "Genius Ancia! The strongest priest Ancia!"
After Ancia finished being smug, she grabbed Skark's cheeks with both hands and said fiercely, "During the fight just now, did you never actively dodge the opponent's attacks?"
Skalk lowered his head so that Ancia could pull him more easily. "Yes, but I wrote to you first."
Ancia disagreed, "On the arena, it's just a mental connection, so injuries won't carry over off the arena. But your fighting habits are terrible; you always trade injuries for injuries. It's the same in the Monster Mountain Range. What if there's no priest around?"
She let go of his hand, and Skark's cheeks were already red from being pinched.
“But with you here, I will always stay by Ancia’s side.” Skulk tilted his head, his amber eyes reflecting Ancia’s image. “I will be there until the last moment of my life.”
Ancia slapped Skalk's face as he leaned in with her hand, "Don't say such unlucky things."
