Chapter 41 The Beast Tide Arrives Suddenly, Don't Be Angry With Me Anymore!
The next day, when Skalk found Ancia coming out of Eve's tent, the jerky she was chewing on had fallen to the ground. He immediately picked it up and washed it clean.
"Ancia, it's not fair! Why do you only sleep in one tent with Eve and not with me?" Skulk squatted by the campfire, shrinking from a big guy to a big ball, whining and whining.
"Why don't you listen to what you're saying?" Anciya kicked him in the butt with a blank expression, but the kick didn't move.
“I can transform into my cub form; it won’t take up much space,” Skulk persisted.
"Don't even think about it." Ancia punched Skark on the head and even ground it, but unfortunately the orc's skin was thick and tough, and her strength was only enough to tickle him.
Seeing that dawn was breaking, Heligalo reminded everyone, "It's almost time for us to set off. Before the monster tide truly arrives, we only need to clear out the monsters on the outer and central parts of the Monster Mountain Range to reduce the pressure of the monster tide. Do not go near the depths of the mountains, as that area is close to the abyss and is full of high-level monsters catalyzed by demonic energy."
Aerlan was polishing his bow and arrows. Besides being a wood-type mage, he was also a natural archer. "With me leading the way, you won't get lost deep in the mountains. Elves don't get lost in the forests."
Ancia calmly opened the system map, so she could promptly alert her if the route was indeed deviated from.
Arlan and Skark walked at the front, Ancia and Eve were in the middle, and Heligaluo brought up the rear.
Low-level magical beasts, no stronger than two stars, roam the outer edge of the Monster Mountain Range. They are often killed by Ellan's arrows and Heligaluo's magic before they can even get close to the group.
They finally encountered a flock of Bubba birds, but two of them slipped through the blockade and attacked Ancia. Before they could even reach her, Skalk and Eve each took them down.
As her experience points rapidly increased, Ancia silently sheathed her dagger. She decided to stick to being a priest; with her wary teammates, she had no chance to make a move.
Three hours later, the team entered the central part of the Monster Mountain Range. The monsters here were much stronger than those in the outer area, and there were even monsters of similar strength to those in Ellan.
The monster in front of us has a red level indicator above its head, 50, which is equivalent to a five-star class. Fortunately, the monster is not very intelligent and acts almost entirely on animal instincts, making it easier to deal with than a real five-star class.
"Mid-tier magical beast: Residual Light Unicorn, be careful." Ellan cautiously stopped and whispered a warning to his teammates behind him.
Lying prone in the grass ahead was a gray-white monster with a broken black horn standing on its left forehead. Demonic energy constantly emanated from the crack. Its fur was no longer silver-white, but had turned into a lifeless gray. In the Church of Light, lilies bloom at the feet of unicorns, but at the feet of this luminous unicorn was a dim light, each ball of light representing a memory of despair.
The mountains were eerily quiet; even the wind seemed to have stopped.
The arrow, drawn to its fullest extent, pierced the silence, whistling as it flew toward the waning unicorn.
The arrow pierced the curtain of battle, and following the arrow to the monster was a gleaming scimitar.
The unicorn with lingering light opened its eyes, and a cloud of gray mist spewed from its broken horn, transforming into a shield in front of it. The arrows pierced straight into the shield, penetrating halfway, and several cracks spread outward from the point of contact. Only after the scimitar repaired the damage did the shield shatter into points of light.
"Such thick defense?" Skulk narrowed his eyes, ran two fingers across the blade, and flames rose from his blood, enveloping the entire scimitar.
“Discipline and bondage”.
"The Mark of Light".
"Wind Blade".
The light rope momentarily slowed the movement of the Remnant Unicorn, allowing Ancia's Mark of Light to strike its broken horn. The broken horn was both its attack method and its vital point. The transparent wind blade struck the Mark of Light, providing damage exceeding that of a two-star wind mage thanks to the damage amplification.
The unicorn, in pain and anger, stood up, stomping its front hooves on the ground, trying to charge at the weak mage who had attacked it.
"Hey, trying to bypass the warriors to attack the back row? Dream on." Skark braced his shoulder against the Radiant Unicorn, the sudden burst of power causing it to stumble. He then flipped over and mounted the Radiant Unicorn, his scimitar aimed at the joint between the broken horn and the forehead, and slashed down hard.
The unicorn with bloodshot eyes let out a mournful cry. It was covered in wounds from the subsequent attacks. It leaped up like a madman, throwing Skark to the ground, and raised its hard hooves to stomp on Skark's body.
Skulk neither dodged nor evaded, but took the blow head-on. He aimed his scimitar at the exposed belly of the unicorn, and the fire-lit blade pierced the soft fur.
Blood stained his gray fur, and large spurts of blood gushed out, covering Skark's body in crimson, even his face was splattered with red marks. Stimulated by the pain and blood, his pupils turned into vertical pupils. Skark licked the blood from the corner of his mouth, his fighting spirit growing even stronger.
"Skark Brand!"
The angry whisper, complete with full names, sent a chill down Skulk's spine. His vertical pupils shrank to dots, his ears flattened back, and he scrambled to his feet on one leg.
Ancia first cast a healing spell on him, and only after seeing the golden light restore the cracks in his leg bone did she say coldly, "Try not dodging now."
It's that same old trade-off tactics again. Does Skark really not care about his own safety? Relying on the priest's presence, he's hurting himself 800 while injuring the enemy a thousand. As a priest, I can't stand it. If we weren't in the middle of a tense battle, Ancia would have rushed up and punched him a couple of times.
"I'm not trying anymore." Skark shook his head repeatedly. His intuition told him that the real danger did not come from the monster in front of him, but from the girl behind him. The oppressive feeling made him tuck his tail between his legs.
Beside Ancia, who was radiating a low-pressure aura, the others simultaneously increased their attack frequency, bombarding the unicorn with dazzling magical skill effects, and soon brought down the massive monster.
Skalk collected the magical materials from the unicorn and slowly walked towards the group. The orc, who usually ran back to Ancia's side, now took small, quick steps with his long legs.
The three ranged mages retreated simultaneously, leaving Skalk alone to face Ancia, who was unleashing her cold aura.
Skark's ears suddenly perked up, his expression hardened, and he looked behind him. Erlan also twitched his ears and looked in the same direction.
Although Ancia didn't have their keen hearing, she still noticed the unusual changes in the subtle magical energy in the air.
The concentration of demonic energy was rising, and a large number of birds took flight in panic from the forest. A continuous rumbling sound gradually came from the distance, and the ground beneath our feet began to tremble slightly.
Having witnessed several monster tides in the Monster Mountain Range, Heligaluo immediately realized what was happening and quickly exclaimed, "The monster tide has broken out ahead of schedule! Let's go!"
"Wings of the Wind!" Eve cast a spell, and transparent wings unfurled behind her as she urgently called out to Ancia, "What are you standing there for! Run!"
Wings of light also appeared behind Heligaluo. Erlan himself had a high agility stat, and his speed in leaping through the forest was as fast as the magical wings of the two mages.
"I don't know the Wings of Light!" Ancia turned and ran, gritting her teeth as she replied. Was it that she didn't want to fly? She was slow to begin with!
"What?" Heligalo didn't expect that Ancia wouldn't have the Wings of Light. He spread his wings and flew towards Ancia, wanting to take her away with him.
"ah!"
Ancia's vision suddenly dipped, her body was lifted into the air, and when she came to her senses, she was already on the back of a giant wolf. The dark red short fur under her hands felt like slightly soft but coarse needles, which were a bit prickly.
The giant wolf raced swiftly through the forest, catching up with its companion ahead, and said ingratiatingly, "Ancia, now that I've given you a ride, you can't be angry with me anymore, okay?"
Ancia opened her mouth only to have a mouthful of wind rush in, "Skark!! You..."
The rest of the words were lost in the wind, and only one name could be heard. Skalk was afraid of hearing Ancia scold him, so he deliberately sped up, so that Ancia could only grab his neck hair and cling tightly to him.
Ancia was terrified by the bumpy ride, her fingers sinking into the deep downy fur.
"Discipline: Binding." Heligalo's light ropes secured Ancia to Skark, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief.
"Wait! Heligalo, it's a bit tight..." The sturdy light rope was tightening around Skalk's throat, making him roll his eyes back.
"Sorry." The light rope considerately adjusted its position and tightness to allow Skark to breathe smoothly.
Ancia glanced back briefly and saw that the movement of the beast tide was now clearly visible. Faint smoke rose in the distance, the dust kicked up by the large number of magical beasts running.
She finally settled on Skark's back, her fingers twitching slightly as she swiftly drew a hand gesture for a telepathic spell, selecting Cheryl's magical connection: "Monster tide erupts, be on alert!"
They had now entered the border area between the central and outer parts of the Monster Mountain Range. Along the way, they encountered several groups of Gracia's classmates and the Holy See squad. Although they did not understand what had happened, they ran back with the group.
On the way back to camp, Skulk briefly explained the anomaly he had discovered, which alarmed the others and made them speed up their escape again.
Nobody would joke about the Warcraft craze.
The camp went into a state of high alert as soon as it received Ancia's notification. Experienced Papal knights had set up deep pit traps in advance, and several deep and long trenches were laid out along the possible paths of the monster tide.
Yesika conjured up a strong, elastic vine net among the mountains, which would trip up the monsters in front. Cheryl prepared several beams of light, which condensed into blazing white orbs in the air, waiting to explode when the beast tide passed by, creating chaos and diverting the monsters.
Everyone they encountered on the way returned to the camp area, and before they could even catch their breath, they had to join the fight against the monster tide.
They are the only and last line of defense in the Monster Mountain Range. Once the monster tide breaks out of the mountain range, Red Maple City lies below.
This year's Warcraft wave arrived more than two months early, and the support personnel in the rear have only just set off.
