Chapter 90: The Choice of Allies - The War... Has Begun.
Ancia pulled Skalk up. "I know what you mean. I still need to go to the northern snow mountains to talk to your chieftain."
Skalk understood. After all, he wasn't the chieftain of the orcs yet. He himself was willing to follow Ancia and was certain of the people's wishes, but this matter still needed to be discussed with the real chieftain. "Go ahead, Mother will definitely agree."
He said he understood, but his eyes revealed his reluctance.
Ancia tiptoed and kissed Skark on the cheek. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon. Goodnight."
The door closed, and Skalk's flushed cheeks disappeared behind it.
That night, Ancia tossed and turned, her dreams filled with images of entering the abyss during a game, interspersed with memories of the battle in the Lord of Lust's palace. She didn't sleep well at all. When she woke up, she had no memory of the dream, only that she had slept restlessly.
Ancia quickly finished the breakfast Lulu had prepared and sent a telepathic message to Erlan, "Where are you? I need to talk to you."
Airland's voice was a little hoarse, as if he had just woken up, "...At Villa No. 7, come over."
Ancia walked along Moon Lake and found Villa No. 7, whose door was already half open.
Airlan, his pajamas half-open at the collar, leaned against the door, yawning with a languid expression. "So early, what do you want?"
Ancia: "The demons are about to invade."
Airlan's sleepy eyes snapped open instantly, and he looked intently at Ancia with his emerald eyes, "Really?"
Ancia's expression was grave. "The abyssal rifts over the Monster Mountain Range have expanded to the middle of the mountain range. The Dean said that the demons will attack within a month."
A faint killing intent gathered in Erlan's eyes. "I understand."
Ancia stepped forward. "Ellan, the demons' attack came too suddenly. Humans need the elves' help."
Her brow furrowed unconsciously, and her hands clenched at her sides, indicating that she wasn't entirely certain about the elves joining the war.
Airlan reached out and gently smoothed out the small hill. "Don't worry, come back to Misty Moon Forest with me."
Ancia nodded. She sensed her surroundings and found that the vegetation around the villa in Airland was lush and the wood element was abundant, enough for her to etch a teleportation array.
Emerald green wood-based magic surged from her fingertips, gradually coalescing into the ancient teleportation array in Beatrice's notebook.
Ancia pulled Erlan along, and the two of them poured their wood-type magic into it together, causing the ancient magic circle to emit a dazzling light.
In an instant, a feeling of weightlessness suddenly descended.
Ancia opened her eyes, and the familiar, clear lake water drew closer. She held Erlan's hand tightly.
A stream of magic shot from Erlan's fingertip, and a petal of the Mirror Lotus rose up under the magic's influence, catching the two of them perfectly.
Ancia sank into the soft, elastic petals and was gently bounced up. Before she could sink in again, wooden wings unfolded on her back, and she quickly flew ashore.
Ellan snapped his fingers, and his solemn voice echoed throughout the Misty Moon Forest, "Convene the Elven Council, now."
The Elven Council only convenes for major events, and all the elves set aside their affairs and headed to the Tree of Life.
Ellan succinctly explained the news that the demons would reappear outside the abyss. His sharp gaze swept over all his people. "Now is our chance to take revenge on the demons. For the mother tree that nearly withered, for our fallen comrades, aim your arrows at the heart of the demons!"
The usually aloof and uncontested elves were now enraged, with some even showing signs of magical rage. They had been neutral for twenty years, but thanks to the isolation of the Misty Moon Forest from the outside world, they had not been affected by the demonic invasion.
But things are different now. The Tree of Life has been harmed by the demons, and the Mist Moon Elves and the demons are irreconcilable enemies. They swear an oath through gritted teeth.
"Kill the demons and avenge the Mother Tree!"
"Avenge Elder Vivian!"
"We want to go too!"
...
Erlan nodded. "All adult elves, come with me to the Augustinian Empire. Underage elves, stay behind."
He turned to Ancia and said, "I'm sorry, I have to stay behind to reorganize the army, so I can't accompany you back to the Eternal City."
With the support of the Mist Moon Elf, Ancia relaxed a lot. "It's alright, I still have other places to go."
She bid farewell to the dejected elf cubs, used the teleportation anchor point, and returned to Huangyang City, the closest city to the southern kingdoms. She stood still, trying to calm the sudden dizziness.
A figure suddenly appeared in the mage association of Huangyang City. Before the people in charge of reception in the hall could react, they saw the figure hurriedly leave.
The staff member scratched his head. "Which high-ranking monk is this...why are you in such a hurry?"
Ancia stood on the main street of Huangyang City, where many soldiers hurried by. She immediately spotted the magnificent city hall nearby. The Holy See of Light was located in the west of the city. She composed herself and headed straight for the city hall.
It would be difficult for her magic to be directly transmitted to the snowy mountains of the North, and it might deviate from the intended location, ending up somewhere unknown. It would be safer to use a teleportation array as an intermediary.
The guards at the city hall, with their cold expressions, stopped her directly. "Miss, if you don't have something urgent to attend to, please leave the city hall."
Ancia held up the token given to her by Verion. "Give this to the mayor. I need to use the teleportation array."
The token was engraved with the royal emblem, and the guards dared not be negligent, quickly entering the hall.
A few minutes later, he returned with the token and respectfully led the way for Ancia, "Miss, the teleportation array is over here, please follow me."
Ancia arrived at the teleportation array, nodded slightly to the mayor who seemed about to say something, activated the teleportation array, and disappeared from the hall.
In the blink of an eye, she arrived in Cangbai City. Her appearance put the atmosphere in the Cangbai City Hall on edge. To avoid being questioned, An Qianya immediately showed her token, and the guards stopped in their tracks.
After using the teleportation array repeatedly, Ancia's temples ached and she felt exhausted. Gritting her teeth, she plunged headfirst into the cold winds of the North.
The map she had taken when she last came to the snow mountain was still there. She unfolded her wooden wings and tried her best to discern directions in the wind and snow.
Her scent, carried by the wind and snow, blew into the orc territory. Chief Meredith sniffed it a few times and then lit the dying campfire beside him.
Ancia landed in the quiet, empty orc camp. The magical wings on her back dissipated. Just as she was about to call out, a tall figure stood on the mountain path and waved to her.
Meredith: "Ancia, this way." She turned and went into the cave, cleared out a seat by the campfire, and laid out a soft fur as a cushion.
Ancia walked in with a pale face and sat by the warm campfire for a while before her face slowly regained its color.
Meredith handed her a bowl. "I can smell your weariness, your anxiety... and the smell of impending battle."
Ancia, holding a bowl of hot soup and sipping it slowly, looked up in surprise upon hearing this. "The battle is about to begin? How did you know?"
Meredith: "We are very sensitive to the will to fight. The Augustine Empire has been very peaceful lately. I guess your will to fight comes from the west."
To the west lies the direction of the Monster Mountain Range.
Ancia nodded. "The demons are about to invade human territory again. I'm here on behalf of humanity to ask for your help."
Meredith nodded calmly, "I understand. You finish your soup first."
She sat not far from the campfire, shielding Ancia from the cold wind, and quietly watched her drink the soup.
After Ancia put down her bowl, Meredith asked her, "Did you bring the war drum I gave you before?"
Ancia took out the Wild War Drum, a palm-sized drumhead with mysterious patterns painted on it, "I always carry it with me."
Meredith: "Very good, now ring it."
Ancia tentatively tapped the drum, her knuckles barely applying any force, yet the drum resounded with a deafening roar. Snowflakes fell from the cave ceiling, and the entire snow-covered valley resonated with the drum's sound. She was completely bewildered by the deafening noise.
Meredith slowly wiped his scimitar, then carried it to the mountain path.
As the chieftain, she lived in a cave that was the highest point in the territory. Looking down from the mountain path, she could see that many orcs had gradually taken up positions on the open ground.
Some orcs were emerging from the cave, all with cold expressions, just like the gleaming scimitars in their hands.
Meredith and the others arrived and said only two sentences: "Line up and head to the Monster Mountain Range. Slay the demons, avenge our grudge."
Many orcs raised their eyes, and Ancia saw in their silent faces eyes burning with fighting spirit.
Just as Ancia was about to leave, Meredith called her back.
Meredith handed over a string of bone ornaments. "Whether I live or die, remember to give this to Skark after the war is over."
Ancia looked a little confused. "Okay, what's this?"
Meredith paused for a moment, so brief it seemed like Ancia's illusion, "...his father's belongings."
After saying that, she turned and went into the cave.
Ancia gazed at the smooth bone ornament in her hand. Even with the marks of time, it was clear that it had been well-preserved, and she carefully put it away.
Now she could finally breathe a sigh of relief. She activated the teleportation crystal and returned to the mage tower in the Eternal City.
Exhausted, Ancia staggered to the sofa and collapsed into the soft seat.
Abby fluttered over and landed on the armrest, tilting her head to look at her. "Little master, you look like you need to rest. Abby will go and run some hot water for you."
Ancia shook her head. "I'll sit for a while, it'll be fine in a bit. I still need to use a telepathic spell, I'll use it later."
Abby sighed humanely, "Alright, how long will it take, little master? Abby will time it perfectly to prepare hot water for you."
Ancia smiled and said, "It won't take long, about ten minutes, it'll be over soon."
As she spoke, she struggled to sit up straight on the sofa, preparing to connect with Verion's magic.
It shouldn't take long to tell Villion and the mentor about the diplomatic success.
After using up these few sound transmission spells, she would take a hot bath, then lie down on the soft bed and sleep soundly under the slightly heavy blanket.
But the next second, a golden telepathic spell pierced through space and appeared beside her. Heligalo had never been so anxious. "Ancia, the abyssal rift in the Monster Mountain Range has begun to solidify and is gradually turning into the shape of the Abyssal Gate."
As soon as he finished speaking, gray magical ripples overlapped and vibrated outwards. Verion's voice was tense as he reported, "Urgent report from Red Maple City: a small number of demon vanguard have appeared outside the Abyss Gate. The war... has begun."
All of Ancia's fatigue vanished, and she grabbed her staff and rushed outside.
Abby called out from behind, "Little master! Aren't you going to rest?"
The only response it received was the sound of the mage tower's doors slamming shut.
