Huang Zhaoxing rolled his eyes at his son and continued.
"There are only two choices now. First, I will take you to the Wen family to apologize and see their attitude."
"You should be thankful that your evil intentions didn't succeed. If you had really caused the eldest daughter-in-law of the Wen family to have a premature birth or miscarriage, you would not have been able to escape this time. No one could have saved you."
Huang Zhikun felt it was too embarrassing to go and apologize. As the eldest grandson of the second branch of the Huang family, he had never bowed his head to anyone, let alone admit his mistake to Wen Yanci. Just thinking about it was hard for him to accept it.
"Dad, Wen Yanci is a cruel and ruthless person. He will never let me go even if I come to apologize. He might even take the opportunity to humiliate me."
"So what's the other option?"
Huang Zhaoxing was so angry at his son's stubborn behavior that his face turned blue, and he thought to himself, "He won't cry until he sees the coffin."
"The second option is that I will find the best lawyer to fight this case for you and try to reduce your sentence."
"I've consulted a lawyer. Kicking someone and causing a miscarriage constitutes intentional injury. According to current mainland law, you'll be sentenced to up to three years in prison. I'm confident my lawyer can help you reduce your sentence to one year."
Huang Zhikun felt that both options were bad and that his father was not sincere in helping him.
"Dad, I don't think either of these methods is good. I don't want to spend a single day in jail."
"Why should our Huang family be afraid of the Wen family? Shouldn't we put pressure on them?"
"Too often give in will only make the other side push further."
Huang Zhaoxing was so angry at his son that he attacked again. He picked up the pen on the table and threw it over, almost hitting Huang Zhikun's forehead.
"Idiot, you were the one who tried to harm someone first, then failed and got caught, and you're still trying to put pressure on them?"
"If the entire Huang family were to take on the Wen family, there's a chance they could successfully exert pressure. But now that we've broken with the first branch, the second branch alone can't pose much of a threat to the Wen family, let alone put pressure on them."
"You're really good at making trouble, but you're more likely to cause trouble than help. You can even be found out if you're going to do something. If you're going to do something, do it cleanly and don't get caught. If you can't do it, don't do it. And you even find a stupid woman to help you do it..."
Huang Zhikun was scolded by his father again.
*
A few more days passed.
In the chairman's office.
Wen Yanci walked calmly into his father's office and sat down on the sofa.
Looking at his father who was making tea, he asked, "Dad, is there something you want to talk to me about?"
Wen Zhiyi didn't look up, concentrating on fiddling with the tea set in his hands.
Wen Yanci watched his father's actions with indifference.
After brewing the tea, Wen Zhiyi poured the tea into the tea cup.
"Yan Ci, it's been a long time since we, father and son, had tea together."
Wen Yanci picked up the cup of tea and took a sip.
"Dad, you wouldn't just invite me here for tea and a chat. I guess you're looking for me about the Huang family."
Wen Zhiyi's hand holding the tea cup froze. He didn't expect that his eldest son would not give him any time to be sentimental. Helplessly, he slowly put down the tea cup and got straight to the point.
"Yan Ci, are you really planning to send Huang Zhikun to jail?"
"Of course."
Wen Zhiyi didn't expect his eldest son to be so direct.
"Not long ago, Huang Zhaoxing came to visit, expressing his sincerity and apology, hoping that the Wen family would show mercy and spare his son Huang Zhikun..."
Wen Yanci looked at his father with a hint of mockery in his eyes and a cold tone.
"Dad, Huang Zhaoxing must have shown great sincerity to you, otherwise you wouldn't have come here as a lobbyist."
"But you're really careless. When I did this, I didn't do it in the name of the Wen family. Your meeting with Huang Zhaoxing is equivalent to implicitly admitting that this was the work of the Wen family."
Wen Zhiyi's face darkened. Hearing his son's sarcasm, he felt a little unhappy and frowned slightly.
"These are things that everyone knows, whether they admit it or not."
"Yan Ci, I know you're doing this to defend Lin Xuqiu, and I'm equally disgusted by Huang Zhikun's actions, but you need to distinguish between motives and facts.
"Huang Zhikun did have bad intentions and was plotting behind your back, waiting for an opportunity to retaliate against you, but his revenge was unsuccessful, which means the Wen family suffered no losses."
"If he succeeds in instigating Bai Muya to steal trade secrets, then our Wen family can openly sue these two people because they have damaged the interests of the Wen family."
"And now you're using the incident with the hostess to charge Huang Zhikun with intentional injury. The nature of the whole matter is completely different."
"Besides, this crime carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison. With the help of a barrister, the sentence could be reduced or even suspended. This outcome wouldn't be a big deal for Huang Zhikun, but it would create animosity between the Wen family and the Huang family's second branch."
"I think you should be very clear about the principle of 'cutting the grass without removing the root, there will be endless troubles'. Since you can't remove the root, then don't make enemies easily."
"Your insistence on sending Huang Zhikun to prison is irrational. You have absolutely no sense of the bigger picture, and you haven't carefully weighed the pros and cons."
Wen Yanci's eyes turned increasingly cold as he looked at his father.
"Dad, have you forgotten about Xuqiu's threatened premature birth? The real culprit was Huang Zhikun. He harbors ill will towards both Xuqiu and me, and bites us whenever he gets the chance, like a mad dog."
"Since Huang Zhikun has evil intentions, he must pay the price. Sending him to jail for two or three years is just a small punishment, a warning to him. It will teach him a lesson."
"I don't know if you're saying this because you're getting older and more timid, or because you and Huang Zhaoxing have reached some kind of consensus on interests."
"With your behavior, I'm afraid that in the near future, everyone will come to step on the Wen family..."
