Chapter 7: Did you forget your eyes when you went to the bathroom?
Cen Wan paused and met his deep eyes, her heart seemed to tremble.
Her eyes fell on the lighter in his hand and she couldn't help but blink. She remembered that he didn't smoke before.
He is waiting here, is...
Cen Wan froze in place, not knowing whether she should walk over as if nothing had happened and treat him as a stranger, or say hello. After all, they had just eaten at the same table.
Shen Yixiao had no intention of leaving, he just looked at her intently.
The two of them were in a stalemate. Cen Wan gathered her thoughts and walked out. The distance between them shortened little by little, and her heart tightened little by little.
One step, two steps...
When passing by him, he did not make any movement. Cen Wan just breathed a sigh of relief and was about to leave quickly, but the next second, he heard a sneer.
"What? Did you forget your eyes when you went to the bathroom?"
Cen Wan froze and turned slowly, not knowing what he meant.
Feel like you didn't say hello to him?
But there is really no need for them to reminisce about the past.
She pursed her lips and said softly, "Hello."
Shen Yixiao's eyes turned cold, you?
He stood up and approached Cen Wan step by step.
Shen Yixiao had broad shoulders and a narrow waist, and he stood tall and straight. When he approached her, Cen Wan felt an unprecedented sense of oppression, and her fingers subconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes.
Shen Yixiao stopped in front of her, and it seemed as if the two of them were about to hug each other in the next second. A familiar breath came over her, and Cen Wan was in a trance for a moment.
"Don't you have anything to tell me?"
Cen Wan bit her lip and said, "I didn't know Master Ji knew you. I'll leave after I get the stone."
"I will try to appear in front of you less often in the future."
I won't bother you, I'll treat you as a stranger.
Just like what we agreed upon when we broke up.
Shen Yixiao looked at the person in front of him, his eyes moving over her fair and beautiful face one by one, a hint of danger flashing in his eyes.
He narrowed his eyes: "Okay, very good."
Still as ruthless as before.
Cen Wan had a hunch that something might happen if she stayed any longer, so she quickly said, "I'll go back to the room first. Please do as you please."
After saying that, he turned and left, walking very quickly.
Shen Yixiao stood there, looking at her panicked back, his eyes so dark that tears could drip out.
Cen Wan, you are really great.
…
After coming out of the box, I didn't know when it started raining outside. The wind was howling and the rain was pouring down like lines, hitting my body.
Ji Yuanchen looked left and then right, then asked Cen Wan, "Miss Cen, where do you live?"
Cen Wan: "I live on Changqing Road."
Ji Yuanchen clapped his hands: "That's the same direction as Brother Yi, I can just take you there."
Cen Wan subconsciously refused: "Don't bother, I can just take a taxi."
Shen Yixiao glanced at her and finally landed coldly on Ji Yuanchen: "You are too nosy."
Cen Wan was a little embarrassed and lowered her eyes.
Ji Yuanchen was going back to the Ji family's old house in the evening, so he drove the car himself, said goodbye to the two of them, and drove away, as if there was a dog chasing him.
Only Cen Wan and Shen Yixiao were left at the door. The rain fell along the eaves, forming a curtain of rain.
She was wearing a light-colored maxi skirt today. The big raindrops splashed onto the ground and scattered, wetting the hem of her skirt and leaving only wet streaks.
She took a step back and pulled out her phone to hail a taxi. Because of the sudden downpour, the taxi app showed dozens of people already waiting in line.
Shen Yixiao was still standing side by side with her. Cen Wan pursed her lips and said softly, "You go back first. I'll just take a taxi."
Hearing this, Shen Yixiao raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at her teasingly: "Did I say I would give it to you?"
Just at this moment, the waiter brought over an umbrella. Shen Yixiao reached out to take it and glanced at her lightly, as if mocking her self-conceit.
He opened his umbrella, walked into the rain and fog, and quickly got into the car. The rear end of the black car merged into the main road and disappeared in the rain.
A trace of bitterness rose in Cen Wan's heart, but she quickly suppressed it.
Isn't this what she wants?
She looked up at the sky. It was midsummer, but a rainstorm began to fall without warning. A slight chill penetrated her body, making her shiver.
When she got home, Cen Wan was soaking wet. She took a quick hot shower and stood in the bathroom to blow dry her hair.
She was a little distracted by the hum of the hair dryer.
If the first time he ran into Shen Yixiao was a coincidence, then why did he come to dinner with Ji Yuanchen today?
He should have known it was her.
If he stopped her, would she still be able to get the stone?
Too many doubts and complicated thoughts occupied her mind. When she came out after blow-drying her hair, she found that new messages kept popping up on the mobile phone on the living room table. They were messages from the university class group.
The group, which had been silent for a long time, suddenly became active again. Cen Wan clicked in and saw that they were discussing the class reunion.
She withdrew without a second thought. She had not participated in these group activities for a long time.
Just as she was about to turn off her phone, someone sent her a message.
It’s my roommate in college, Zhou Yang.
Zhou Yang: [Wanwan, will you come to the class reunion next week? I heard you went back to South City. We haven't seen each other since graduation. It's a good time for us to get together.]
Cen Wan didn't really want to go, but she wasn't used to refusing outright: "My work schedule isn't fixed, so I might not be free then."
She had long lost contact with her college classmates, and only had a few roommates with whom she would occasionally chat in their dormitory group.
When Zhou Yang got married last year, she was out of town and didn't make it back, but she gave her a fairly large red envelope.
Zhou Yang was still trying to persuade her: [You weren't in South City before, and now that you're back, why don't we make some time to get together?]
Cen Wan: [Then I’ll check my work schedule when the time comes.]
Putting down the phone, Cen Wan rubbed her temples, feeling a little headache.
Nancheng has ties and memories that she cannot let go of. She doesn't want to come back, but she has to.
Once again facing those past events that she didn't want to mention.
