Chapter 45 Shen Yixiao, Thank You
Cen Wan was all dirty, so Jiang Yuan fetched some water to help her wipe it off.
Seeing the bruises all over her body, Jiang Yuan asked the nurse for ointment and used a cotton swab to apply on the bruises and scrapes.
"Does it hurt?"
Cen Wan looked at her frown and smiled, "It's worth the pain to have Miss Jiang serve me."
Jiang Yuan looked up at her: "It's already this hour and you still have the mind to joke?"
Cen Wan said softly, "It's really okay. The moment I lay at the bottom of the cliff, I was thinking, I still have you, and grandma, and there are so many things I want to do but haven't done yet. I must live on."
"At least I'm not missing any limbs, and I haven't become a fool. That's good enough."
Jiang Yuan rolled his eyes at her and said, "I don't think there's anyone in the world more stupid than you!"
Cen Wan just smiled.
Sometimes she felt that fate was always playing tricks on her, giving her a blow when she was closest to happiness. But sometimes she was also thankful that God still favored her.
It just so happened that she had a few pieces of gravel at hand, and she was blocked by trees several times when she rolled down, which added to the cushioning. Now she could still lie on the bed and chat with Jiang Yuan, which was already a blessing from God.
Jiang Yuan's eyes were still red: "Anyway, you are not allowed to go into the mountains alone again. It's too dangerous!"
Cen Wan: "I'll try my best."
If Wu Anhao had not suddenly appeared, she would not have gained nothing from this trip, and she would have almost lost her life.
"When I was in western Yunnan with my teachers, I saw everything from earthquakes and mudslides to landslides. I also often went hiking and went into the mountains. This was purely human interference. Don't worry, I will pay attention and I promise not to worry you again."
"Hmph," Jiang Yuan turned his head away, "I knew you wouldn't listen. You can do whatever you want."
Cen Wan reached out and tugged at her sleeve, but Jiang Yuan ignored her.
She pulled again, and her clear eyes looked at her pitifully: "Yuanyuan, I want to drink water."
Jiang Yuan: "...Don't act so pitiful."
After saying that, he turned around and went to the bedside to get the cup and fed her.
Jiang Yuan chatted with her for a while, and then was urged to go back by Cen Wan.
"Then what are you going to do at night?" Jiang Yuan was worried.
"There are nurses in the hospital. Go back and bring me some clothes and daily necessities. Besides, it's not comfortable to sleep in the hospital. Come back and see me tomorrow during the day."
Jiang Yuan originally wanted to stay with her in the ward, but was eventually driven away.
After Jiang Yuan left, Cen Wan frowned. She still felt uncomfortable all over her body and it hurt whenever she moved.
Not only was my body extremely tired throughout the whole day, but my mind was also tense. The ups and downs were like a roller coaster ride, which drained all my energy.
No longer trying to hold on, she slowly fell asleep.
I don’t know how long it took, but the door of the ward was gently pushed open and a tall and straight figure walked in.
Shen Yixiao sat beside her bed, looking down at her.
Cen Wan slept very uneasily, with her brows furrowed and beads of sweat oozing from her forehead. She looked very uncomfortable.
Shen Yixiao reached out and gently tucked the loose hair behind her ear. His fingertips stopped half an inch away from her cheek, but did not fall down.
Her face was pale and she looked like she would break apart at any moment.
He remembered how it felt when he held her in his arms, and she seemed thinner than before.
Have you had a bad time these years?
Seeing that her lips were dry and peeling, Shen Yixiao took the cup and cotton swab beside him, dipped some warm water in them, and gently applied it to her lips.
The ward was very quiet, and the entire hospital was plunged into silence.
Shen Yixiao looked at her unscrupulously, his eyes obscure and complicated: "What should I do with you?"
He watched over her while she slept for a while, wiped the sweat off her face, tucked in the quilt for her, and just as he got up to leave, Cen Wan's eyelashes trembled and she slowly opened her eyes.
It turns out it wasn't an illusion.
Looking at the familiar figure, Cen Wan hesitated for half a second, but still called out to him.
"Shen Yixiao."
Shen Yixiao paused, thinking it was an illusion, until Cen Wan called out again.
He turned around and saw Cen Wan staring at him intently with her dark and clear eyes.
Shen Yixiao's throat felt dry: "Are you awake?"
"Um."
Cen Wan moved her lips but didn't know how to start.
He hadn't shown up since she was rescued, but why did he come to see her in the middle of the night?
She glanced at the clock on the wall and saw it was almost two in the morning.
"Aren't you going to rest?"
"Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere else?"
There was silence for a few seconds before they both spoke at the same time.
They were all stunned.
Cen Wan shook her head and said softly, "I'm fine. Thank you for today."
"Thank you for the mistake."
"Huh?" Cen Wan didn't react for a moment.
Shen Yixiao walked forward, stretched out his long legs lazily, hooked over the stool beside the bed and sat down again.
"Are you crazy from the concussion? It's already the second day."
Cen Wan: "..."
"Anyway, thank you for bringing people to me."
Otherwise she might not be able to hold on.
Shen Yixiao looked at her calm and serious expression and said nonchalantly, "Your friend is crying so hard, how can I not help?"
Cen Wan pursed her lips. She thought that after that slap, he would no longer care about her life or death.
The incandescent light from above in the ward cast a faint shadow on the side of his tall nose. The thick night poured in through the gaps in the undrawn curtains, bringing a strange atmosphere.
This seemed to be the first time since their reunion that the two of them had been so peaceful with each other. There was no tension or sarcasm.
The more this happened, the more Cen Wan didn't know how to face him.
Time passed by little by little, and Shen Yixiao showed no intention of leaving. He just sat there, staring at her.
Cen Wan moved uncomfortably, feeling a conflict between her conscience and her desires.
Finally, between social death and physical pain, she chose the former.
She bit her lip, wishing she could hide her face, and whispered, "Can you help me go to the toilet?"
