“…”

Song Yu didn't dare to speak now. She was forced to look up, her thin, fair chin firmly pinned by the back of a hand with bulging veins, making it impossible for her to break free. Whenever she couldn't stand it any longer and tried to turn her head, the big hand would punish her by lightly pinching her jaw and turning her back, saying in a low voice, "Don't move."

She could only half open her eyes, and her sight was only of the man's chest shaking back and forth because of his movements. While she was thinking about how these chest muscles were trained, she felt a little ashamed for the first time. In order to prevent herself from thinking of the wrong thing, she could only focus her eyes on the black buttons of the man's shirt.

Her face felt cold, with drops of water dripping down her face. It was very cold, and the man's movements became heavier and heavier. She felt a little pain, but she didn't dare to say it, or even open her eyes to look at the man's expression. She could only catch a glimpse of the man's tight lips and his Adam's apple rolling up and down with the corner of her eyes.

Come on, he must still be angry.

"Xu Qiao." Song Yu called out, but as she expected, there was no response, "Xu Qiao...Xu Qiao...Xu Qiao..."

If she didn't respond, she would keep shouting. Sure enough, Xu Qiao pinched her cheek and said in a stiff voice, "What are you doing?"

"My neck is so sore from looking up." Song Yu stared at him eagerly, then stretched out her still trembling hand to hold his bony wrist, her brows furrowed slightly in a coaxing manner, and her voice contained a hint of laughter, "How long will it take to finish wiping it?"

Xu Qiao looked at her slightly pale face, and his voice was no longer as stiff as before, "Wait a moment, it will be quick."

"Oh." Song Yu maintained this posture, staring up at the man in a daze. Her gaze unconsciously shifted to the man's face. His eyebrows were dark and cold, but his face was paler than hers. His eyeballs were bloodshot red. It was so cold in the middle of the night, and his forehead was covered in sweat.

Song Yu's skin was pale, and the splash of blood made her face look extremely scary. Even the places where the wet tissue had wiped her turned a faint red. Her movements were very gentle, but her face was very cold as she spoke mercilessly, "You dare to chase after a robber? If that brick hits you on the head, aren't you afraid of really dying?"

"......That's perfect, this will fulfill your wish." Song Yu joked.

Xu Qiao looked at her deeply, and rubbed the skin at the corner of her eyes with a little force. The skin immediately turned red, and she looked very pitiful.

She frowned in pain, looking very pitiful, "Can you be a little gentler?"

"Only when it hurts can you learn your lesson." Xu Qiao's expression became even colder, and his hands were merciless. Song Yu's face was rubbed red by him, like a big red apple held in a child's hand.

Song Yu didn't dare to speak at all.

Seeing him coming closer again, she reflexively closed her eyes and raised her face, waiting for him to wipe her.

The restraint on his chin was released first, and he heard a cold voice, "I'm done." Song Yu opened his eyes and saw Xu Qiao's departing back.

With trembling hands, Xu Qiao threw the blood-stained wet tissue into the trash can in the corner. He felt the wall, turned around, leaned against it with exhaustion, and let out a heavy breath. His heart was beating so fast that it was about to explode.

He didn't dare close his eyes. As soon as he closed his eyes, all he could think of was Song Yu's disheveled hair and blood-stained face. Waves of intense fear surged in his heart. The vivid scene kept replaying before his eyes, and his pulse almost stopped.

He turned his head and saw Song Yu still huddled on the cold iron chair in the hospital waiting for him, staring blankly at the wound on his knee. He looked skinny and small, like a poor frightened child waiting for his parents to come and take care of him.

He leaned his head against the wall and closed his eyes tightly. Forget it, it doesn’t matter who she likes. As long as I love her, it’s enough.

Xu Qiao calmed down and walked out. As soon as he showed his face, Song Yu raised her head and stared at him. Then she saw a smile on her face that could be described as a bit of dependent surprise, "...Ah...I thought you were gone."

He turned around and sat down next to her. The slender arms that supported the sides of the seat were trembling slightly. As if noticing his gaze, she smiled awkwardly and said, "Sorry, I'm trying to control myself. I'm a little out of control."

The big hand on the leg suddenly turned over, palm facing up. Without any words, a soft and cold hand was placed in the palm of the big hand with a little hesitation, and then was immediately wrapped in warmth.

The warm palms pressed tightly against hers, and a steady stream of heat spread from the connected parts to her limbs and bones. The sense of security of having her hands wrapped by someone finally made her anxious heart no longer so panicked.

The hospital was noisy and quiet late at night. From time to time, one or two patients covered in bruises came into the emergency room. Ambulances with blaring bells stopped at the door, and a large group of doctors and nurses rushed in. Some people even ran in barefoot with blood on their bodies, shouting for help from the doctor. Bloody footprints were scattered all over the ground.

They sat in a noisy corner, holding hands and watching all this in silence. This was a cruel battlefield, life was terribly fragile, and a second of hesitation could lead to the disappearance of life.

"Song Yu."

She tilted her head slightly, "What's wrong?"

"I like you."

Song Yu's breathing stagnated.

"I know you have someone else in your heart." Xu Qiao looked ahead and said slowly, "I originally thought that as long as I work hard, there will always be a day when you will like me."

"But today, when I saw you appear in front of me covered in blood, I realized that I couldn't wait any longer."

"I don't want to have the possibility of losing you, even if it's one in ten thousand."

"I accept that you like him, but can you also keep a small corner for me in your heart?"

"Song Yu, is this okay?"

With the last sentence, Xu Qiao turned around to face her, with a pleading look in his eyes, "I won't take up too much of your time."

"I don't know." Song Yu said in a low voice.

Xu Qiao thought he would be rejected, and also thought Song Yu would turn against him, but he never expected her answer to be "I don't know."

"I don't know what I should do to avoid hurting you. I thought that after I explained it to you last time at the amusement park, I would feel less guilty about you, but it's not like that. I'm confused. I didn't sleep all night after camping. I tried to think things through, but it was almost dawn, and I... still didn't know what to do..."

Suddenly, someone pulled her hand into a broad embrace. The man rested his chin against her forehead and said in a low voice, "It's okay with me. I don't blame you. If you don't know, then you don't know. I don't really need an answer from you right now."

The scorching heat baked her cold face. She rubbed her thin clothes and smelled the fragrance of the fabric baked by her body temperature. She closed her eyes tiredly and allowed herself to stay in this embrace for a second longer. "Thank you."

Although she only suffered a minor injury on her knee, this brutal robbery incident that happened in the suburbs still attracted the attention of the police. The man fell and hit a brick on the ground while escaping. He is now lying unconscious on the hospital bed, so they can only find another party to take a statement first.

The questions were very detailed, and Song Yu answered everything she remembered. When the record was almost finished, Song Yu's counselor arrived, walking hurriedly and looking very anxious. He first glanced at her, and when he saw that she was not seriously injured, he breathed a sigh of relief, turned to the police and said, "Hello, police officer, I am her counselor."

The police nodded and briefly explained the current situation. Because the suspect was still in a coma, the case could not proceed. So the police gave Song Yu a verbal criticism and education for chasing the robber and left. They left Song Yu's phone number and would contact him again if they needed Song Yu later.

After saying that, the police turned and left.

For a moment, only Song Yu, Xu Qiao, and the counselor were left at the scene. The incident happened too suddenly, and she was fine. If the police had not insisted that she call the counselor because she was a student, she would have wanted to handle the matter herself.

Her counselor's surname was Liu. He was responsible and easygoing. Everyone usually liked to call him Director Niu. But now that such a big thing had happened, he had just been embarrassed to behave in front of the police. Now, he was pulling Song Yu and looking around nervously, "Are you injured anywhere else? Huh?"

"Where's your head? Is it injured?"

"Director Niu, I just bumped my knee, everything else is fine." Song Yu comforted him.

"That's good." She sat down next to Song Yu. "I rushed here as soon as I got the call. The police said on the phone that your face was covered in blood. I thought you were seriously injured."

"The robber fell to the ground and hit a brick on it. He wanted to hit me with the brick, but when he stood up he didn't hold the brick firmly. Before he passed out, he touched my face and it was covered in blood. I wasn't seriously injured," Song Yu explained.

"Is this boy your boyfriend?" Director Niu asked when he noticed Xu Qiao sitting next to him.

"Well......"

"Teacher, I am Xu Qiao from the Department of Mathematics." Xu Qiao glanced at Song Yu and then replied.

"By the way, teacher, please don't call my family about this matter. I'm afraid they will worry." Song Yu said as if he remembered something.

"How can this be possible?" Director Niu said disapprovingly, "How can you not even tell your family about such a big thing? Besides, I already called your family when I got here."

Song Yu's heart instantly sank. "...But it might be too late, the call didn't go through. Remember to call them tomorrow. Your family will be very worried if you don't tell them."

She breathed a sigh of relief without leaving a trace, "Thank you, teacher, I know."

Xu Qiao noticed her strangeness and gave her a subtle look.

Coach Niu looked around and asked, "Have you healed your knee injury? Can you walk now?"

Before the police arrived, a nurse had already treated Song Yu. The injury was minor, just a little skin abrasion, and not even gauze was used.

The matter was almost settled. Director Niu stood at the hospital entrance, looking at the two people in front of him with a hesitant expression. "Then I'll go back now. You go back and take a hot bath and have a good sleep. Don't think about anything else, okay?"

Knowing that she was worried, Song Yu patted her shoulder soothingly, "Okay, okay, Director Niu, I know everything, don't worry."

Director Niu turned to Xu Qiao and said, "Hey male student, remember to send her back safely."

"I understand, teacher, you don't have to worry."

After giving some worried instructions, Director Niu rode away on the small electric stove.

After watching Director Niu leave, Xu Qiao turned to Song Yu and said, "Let's go too."

Song Yu blinked and said, "Okay."

The taxi they called arrived quickly, and the two of them sat at opposite ends of the back seat, speaking nothing in the dark cabin.

The brown and yellow street lights on the road shone into the car in waves. Song Yu turned her head to look at the scenery outside the window that flashed like a slide. She moved her fingers and pressed the window. A huge air flow sound suddenly burst out in the car. She leaned against the window, her black and cool hair flying freely in the car with the wind.

Xu Qiao stretched out his hand, and strands of hair entangled around his fingertips. At that moment, he felt that she was like a bird that was about to fly away with the wind at any time.

Not long after, they got out of the car. He sent Song Yu to the door, watched her enter the house, and then turned and went downstairs.

The door slammed shut with a bang. After standing quietly at the door for a while, Song Yu finally moved. She changed her blood-stained clothes and went into the shower room to take a hot bath. She came out of the shower room with wet long hair and wiped it carelessly with a long white towel. She glanced outside casually, and she was stunned for a moment. She threw down the towel, opened the door and ran out.

While waiting for the elevator, she was very anxious and kept watching the numbers on the display screen falling, faster, faster.

The elevator door opened, and she rushed out of the apartment building with her wet hair loose. The moment she was illuminated by the dim street light, she looked at Xu Qiao who was standing under the street light opposite. There was a bit of scarlet on her fingertips, and a trace of white mist overflowed from her lips. She lowered her head and eyes, her eyebrows were calm and a little bit of emptiness and confusion.

Hearing the chaotic movement, he looked up in surprise, then immediately put out the cigarette in his hand. He stood there for a while before daring to walk towards Song Yu, "Why did you come down suddenly? Are you scared?"

Bang! It was the sound of two hearts colliding.

Looking down at the person who suddenly rushed into his arms, Xu Qiao took a long time to dare to put his hand on her shoulder. He hugged her and whispered in her ear, "What's wrong? Are you scared? Why did you come down with your hair not even dried?"

"Don't be afraid, I'm here. I won't leave. I'll stay with you—"

Before he could finish his words, a pair of soft, red lips came up to him. He stopped talking instantly and lowered his head to kiss her.

That night, Xu Qiao slept in the guest room of Song Yu's house.
