Guilty
There was an overwhelming expanse of deep green before her eyes, branches and leaves were densely connected above her head, and when she looked up, there were large expanses of green shade. Song Yu was standing under the tree at the entrance of the sanatorium and talking to someone. There was a hint of white mist on the face of the person in front of her. This feeling of not being able to see clearly made her feel a little anxious.
"Ding-ling-ling~~~" an urging voice sounded.
The time was almost up, and Song Yu still hadn't seen what the man looked like. No matter how hard she tried to wave away the white mist, it wouldn't dissipate. Her voice became noticeably anxious, "You haven't told me your name yet."
But this man turned and left after hearing this question. She hurried forward and grabbed his hand, "Hey...wait..." At that moment, Song Yu only felt an astonishing heat coming from the palm of her hand, it was so hot.
Then she saw the man slowly turn around and reveal a familiar face. She shuddered and instantly woke up.
"Song Yu, class is starting." A hand gently pushed her shoulder.
Xu Qiao looked at her, her hair disheveled and her face slightly red from sleep, as he lifted her from his arms. Her eyes were still hazy and she asked, "Who are you?"
It looked like she wasn't fully awake yet. Xu Qiao lowered his eyes and helped her turn the book to the page the professor was talking about. He said calmly, "I'm Xu Qiao, your name is Song Yu. We're in class now, and you fell asleep. The professor has already looked at you several times."
Song Yu's hazy eyes regained clarity. She said "oh", then supported her forehead with one hand, retracted her gaze to the book, and blinked slowly a few times.
"Are you okay?" The voice of the person next to me came along with the sound of pages turning. "You didn't seem to sleep very well just now."
A beam of sunlight shone through the glass window onto their table. Song Yu opened her palms and watched the light shining back and forth on the palms and backs of her hands. No wonder they were so hot in her dream just now. "I'm fine."
The person next to him hummed, and Song Yu glanced at him. He was taking notes in the book following the professor's explanation, and drawing on the book with a pen.
She propped up her head and looked out the window at the bright sunshine, and slowly exhaled. Why did Room 305 in her dream have Xu Qiao's face?
Song Yu shook his head vigorously to clear the confused thoughts in his mind.
After class, Song Yu packed up his books and was about to leave, but Xu Qiao stopped him, "Wait a moment, I want to discuss Yaya's recent study progress with you."
Song Yu put on his bag, paused for a moment, gestured to Lan Lin who was standing at the door, and said with a smile: "I have something to do now, why don't we talk on WeChat, it's the same."
"Okay." Xu Qiao glanced at Lan Lin who was standing at the door and nodded.
Song Yu walked to the door. Lan Lin's face was full of condemnation. Song Yu pulled her away and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"What are you going to do now?"
Song Yu was a little surprised, "Did you hear it?"
Lan Lin crossed his arms over his chest, looking like he wasn't going to tell the truth. "Contact us about Yaya's studies? I know the tutor you hired is Xu Qiao."
At this time, the two of them were not far from the classroom. Song Yu glanced at the classroom, quickly pulled Lan Lin away and smiled apologetically, "I didn't mean to hide it from you. This is just an accident."
"Ya Ya likes him, and he asked to help, so I just went along with it." She was stared at by Lan Lin so hard that sweat broke out on her forehead. After a while, Lan Lin reluctantly said okay.
Before the two of them left, she turned her head to look at the classroom. Xu Qiao just came out of the classroom and the two of them looked at each other. Song Yu withdrew her gaze first and turned back.
Xu Qiao stood there with a gloomy expression.
Yaya was on a month-long holiday these days. Song Yu thought about it and felt a little worried, so he took advantage of her holiday to go back.
It was a rare month off, and Song Yu didn't want her to be too nervous, which would be detrimental to her studies, so he told Xu Qiao early on that there would be no classes this Saturday. After Yaya finished her homework on Saturday, the two of them, each wearing a straw hat, loose knee-length shorts, and holding their own small fishing rods and buckets, went to the river to fish.
She was lazily slipping on her slippers, her long black hair tied loosely behind her head, the sunlight sprinkled on her face through the gaps in the straw hat on her head, and the small orange bucket in her hand swung leisurely beside her slender white legs.
They stood by the river and each found a spot not far away to set up their fishing rods. In fact, they didn't go out fishing very often. This time, Song Yu came purely because he wanted to relax Yaya and let her find a little peace of mind in the examination room.
"Let's compete to see who catches more fish today. The one who catches less will cook for the day. How about that?" Song Yu raised her face and looked at Ya Ya who was setting up the fishing rod for her.
Ya Ya was very disdainful of this, "You can't even set up the rod properly, and you still want to fish? Just wait for dinner tonight."
Faced with such ridicule, Song Yu simply pretended not to see it and continued to enthusiastically wrap the fishing line in his hand.
However, an hour passed, then two hours passed, Song Yu's butt was sore from sitting, and the float didn't move at all. Yaya's results were not very good either, but at least she caught one better than her. Seeing that she was going to lose tonight, Song Yu simply dropped her fishing rod and ran to the clear stream to wade in the water to touch the little crabs.
She dipped her hands into the cold water and carefully turned over the rocks one by one. These were places where crabs were likely to hang out. She was lucky when catching crabs. She found a small crab hidden under the first rock she turned over. She saw the right moment and immediately took action.
"Plop!" A stone was thrown at her and hit her right in front of her. It was too close and she was splashed in the face by the water. The crab immediately ran away without a trace.
"......" She wiped the water off her face, "Who is it?!"
Two teenagers, about seventeen or eighteen years old, were standing on the shore not far away. Seeing the trouble, their faces instantly turned red and they shouted, "Sister Xiaoyu, I'm sorry, you didn't respond when I called you. I didn't control my strength well."
One of the boys in a white long-sleeved shirt saw her picking crabs with a bucket, and hurriedly rolled up his trouser legs to help her. Song Yu stopped him, and then went ashore with the bucket in hand, taking one step forward and one step back.
"What do you want me to do?" Song Yu knew these two children. They lived nearby and often came to Yaya to do homework. Although they knew each other before, it had been a long time since they last saw each other. Song Yu had grown so tall that he didn't recognize them when they stood in the water. The boy in the white long-sleeved shirt was called Lu Yi, and the other boy was called Lin Xiaolang.
"We just went to your house looking for Yaya, but she wasn't there. We heard someone say they saw you coming this way, so we came looking for you." Lu Yi looked a little nervous and apologized to Song Yu again, "I'm sorry, Sister Xiaoyu, I didn't throw the stone accurately just now."
"It's okay." Song Yu glanced at the books in their hands. "Are you here to ask Yaya to do her homework? She finished her homework yesterday."
Lin Xiaolang glanced at Lu Yi obscurely, and as expected, the next sentence he heard Lu Yi say, "It's okay, Sister Xiaoyu, I just have a few questions that I don't know how to ask Yaya."
"She is my deskmate. I often ask her questions at school."
"Questions?" Song Yu became interested. "What questions? Let me see." She glanced at the English book in Lu Yi's hand. This happened to be her forte in high school.
Under her repeated urging, Lu Yi reluctantly showed it to her. She knew the answer after reading it once. She stood on the shore with a pen and began to mark the key points of the reading for Lu Yi, explaining it to him bit by bit.
After this talk, Song Yu suddenly felt that she had some potential to be a teacher. She looked at Lu Yi with satisfaction and asked, "Is it clear now?"
Lu Yi nodded in understanding, then flipped through a math test paper and pointed directly at the last question of the last major problem. "Sister Xiaoyu, can you explain this problem to me too?"
"..." "Little bastard," Song Yu said expressionlessly, glancing at the question and then at Lu Yi, who looked innocent. She pondered for a long time with her pen in hand, but couldn't even understand the question. She returned the pen to Lu Yi and shrugged, "Even Ya Ya might not know the answer to this question. Why don't you go back to school and ask the teacher?"
The boy smiled innocently, "Sister Xiaoyu, Yaya can do it. I saw that brother telling her last time."
Song Yu suddenly clenched the bucket in her hand. She complained to Xu Qiao in her heart, "Why did you teach Ya Ya such a difficult question?"
Finally, she twitched her lips and said, "Then go find her. Don't talk for too long, or the fish will run away."
Watching the two people's backs as they left, Song Yu stood there desolately, holding her small orange bucket. At that moment, she felt like an old widower who watched her cabbages being eaten by pigs.
When Song Yu went over, the two boys had already left. Yaya was sitting alone on a small stool, holding her chin and looking at the calm surface of the water. It seemed that fishing was a sport that suited her well, as she could actually sit there for so long.
Song Yu looked at her from afar. At this age, she was almost as tall as her. She had a slender and well-proportioned figure. Although her face still looked a little childish, it could not hide her girlish beauty. She also had good grades. It would be strange if no one liked such a perfect girl.
She sighed. Before she became a parent, she was already worrying about her child's premature love problem. She really hadn't figured out how to deal with this matter. She stood there, calculating various possibilities in her mind.
Ya Ya turned his head and saw her, "What are you doing standing there?"
Song Yu walked over and sat on the stool next to her. "Two boys just came and said they wanted to ask you a question."
She nodded and said, "Yes, it's my classmate. He left after he finished speaking."
"Are you close to them?" Song Yu asked, blinking. Yaya looked a little confused. "They are all classmates."
Song Yu was relieved now. Yaya's face clearly showed that she had no interest in the boy. Thinking of this, Song Yu couldn't help but remind her, "You should focus on studying now. Of course, I don't object to you finding some fun for yourself, but no one else can compare to you, understand?"
Seeing the look on Yaya's face that said, "What are you talking about?", Song Yu complained in her heart, "This girl is too naive. Others' feelings towards you are written on their faces, and you still think she loves studying." She cleared her cough and said, "Anyway, it's okay as long as you know it yourself."
Yaya nodded, and suddenly a ringtone sounded from the side. Before Song Yu could react, Yaya had already pressed the answer button.
This was a video call. From Song Yu's perspective, she could see Xu Qiao but Xu Qiao couldn't see her. It was obvious that Xu Qiao's sign language skills had improved a lot. He didn't speak the whole time and used sign language to communicate with Ya Ya. It had reached the point where no translation was needed.
Song Yu was sitting nearby, playing with the grass, feeling bored, when he suddenly heard Xu Qiao ask directly, "Where's your sister? Is she next to you?"
She stood up like a catapult and signed to Ya Ya, "Just say I'm not here."
Yaya obediently followed her instructions and told Xu Qiao. In the video, Xu Qiao didn't react much, just nodded faintly and said, "Ask me any questions anytime."
After the call ended, Yaya put away the phone and asked, "Why don't you talk to Teacher Xu?"
Song Yu smiled awkwardly, "I don't know either."
On this side, Xu Qiao sat on the sofa. The dazzling white calf in the video kept appearing in his mind. He let out a deep breath, then clicked on Lan Lin's circle of friends. The latest post was a photo of her glaring at Song Yu while Song Yu was waiting for a bus with headphones on. The caption read, "Why does everyone have a white moonlight? Can God give me one too? Please (crying) (folding hands)."
It goes without saying who has the white moonlight.
