Chapter 347 Frankness
Gu Zhou pushed the door open and walked out.
Peripheral vision noticed.
The steps froze.
The moonlight poured down on the deck, softly covering her like silk.
The salty sea breeze lifted the soft edges of her off-white shawl, letting it flutter in the air.
She folded her elbows and stared at the sparkling sea in a daze.
I heard footsteps behind me.
She turned her head slightly confused.
The moment I saw Gu Zhou.
Her face paused.
Gu Zhou looked distracted, and there was nothing unusual about him.
She hid her thoughts in her eyes.
She turned around, her eyes slightly curved: "Boss Gu, are you feeling better?"
Gu Zhou stared at him, an indistinct meaning flowing through his dark eyes.
Her dark eyebrows moved slightly.
Trying to guess his mood from his eyes.
"No."
Wang Yuanling was stunned and asked hurriedly, "Is it a headache? Or is there something wrong?"
His eyes were bright and dark: "My head hurts."
She lowered her eyelashes in thought, remembering the painkillers she had taken before: "I think I have some painkillers in my bag. Wait a moment, I'll get them for you."
His voice was deep: "Do you eat it often?"
She met his dark eyes.
Too dark to see through.
I felt a strange sense of uneasiness in my heart: "It's not often, just occasionally. I get a headache after working overtime all night, so I put a few pills in my bag."
He tilted his chin slightly, his dark eyes becoming narrower and longer, and he spoke with deep meaning: "However, how come Mr. Ling guessed so accurately that he guessed that my head would hurt?"
Wang Yuanling suddenly clenched his fingertips that were hanging on both sides of his body.
His eyes, sharp and penetrating, seemed to be able to penetrate everything. He stared at her without blinking. "Then let me guess. Mr. Ling, are you so familiar with the side effects of the drug? Is it because the female assistant you hired once took it, or because you took it yourself?"
Her fingertips trembled slightly.
Trying to remain calm, she said, "Mr. Gu, I don't understand what you are saying. Since you don't need painkillers, I'll go back first."
She wanted to leave immediately.
The side railing suddenly passed over his strong arm.
Trapping her between the railing and him.
The intercepted light cut across his angular jaw at an angle, revealing an inhumane meaning.
Wang Yuanling's breathing suddenly stopped.
Leaning your waist against the cold railing.
It was difficult to maintain composure on the surface.
Gu Zhou stared at her drooping eyes that refused to meet his: "Boss Ling..." He paused deliberately, his knuckles clicking against the metal railings. "Considering our future cooperation, I think we need to be honest with each other."
She pursed her lips, suddenly raised her eyelashes, and stared straight into his dark pupils. Her shadow was reflected inside, like a trapped beast.
But she couldn't escape.
"Even if it involves unspeakable secrets and opening up other people's wounds, do we still need to be honest?"
Her light voice was swept up in the sound of the waves, like a question, but too gentle to tell whether she was asking or questioning.
Gu Zhou's dark eyes were stern: "Then we have to see whether it is the truth or a lie."
A dark current flashed through her watery eyes. "What does it matter if it's the truth or a lie? What does it have to do with honesty?"
Gu Zhou pressed down his wrist, and his tall figure completely blocked the light in front of her.
With his back to the light, he stared at her mysteriously.
"Being honest means abandoning lies. So, Mr. Ling, why don't you tell me? If it's the truth, I apologize for exposing your wounds. But if it's a lie, Mr. Ling should apologize to me because you lied to me."
She was drawn into his word games.
Unable to escape.
If you don’t say it.
It's just not honest.
If you are honest.
This proved that what she said before was a lie, so she...
She was in a dilemma.
Seeing that she kept silent.
Gu Zhou raised his lips, his smile cold: "If Mr. Ling refuses to tell me, then I will guess it myself?"
Wang Yuanling swallowed lightly in his throat.
A playful expression tinged his lips as he spoke lazily, "I guess the thing you're unwilling to confess is related to Wang Yaozu."
Her pupils suddenly contracted.
Gu Zhou took her reaction into consideration, and the smile on his lips was not at all noticeable.
"Do you want me to guess again?" His voice was heavy.
He landed on the ground uncomfortably.
She was desperate, her gentle eyes suddenly like a wave, full of aggression: "So, Mr. Gu wants to laugh at me for being drugged, or gossip about whether my half-brother has raped me before?"
Gu Zhou's knuckles turned pale from the effort he put on the railing, his eyes cold as he said in a hoarse voice, "He really..."
"No." Wang Yuanling interrupted.
Any rumor that had anything to do with Wang Yaozu made her feel sick.
She naturally wanted to clarify.
However, her watery eyes had lost their luster, becoming dull and lifeless. With her eyes lowered, she recounted the entire incident like a disembodied machine: "He took advantage of my parents' vacation and drugged my sleep-inducing milk. He sneaked into my room, and I knocked over the bedside vase, scratching his arm. He then jumped out the second-floor window. As for why I didn't hire a female assistant, it's because he treated my assistant the same way. The difference is, he succeeded, and he even encouraged my female assistant to help him cause trouble for me."
No response was heard.
She raised her eyes, expecting to see his mocking face or his usual nonchalant look.
All speculation.
But the moment I faced him.
Gone completely.
This was the first time she had seen him look like this.
Those who are sinister and full of violence are no longer at ease.
He is very angry.
Realize this.
Her eyes flickered.
What are you angry about?
Angry at her for lying?
She was at a loss.
He withdrew his hand from the railing and stood up.
The light in front of her suddenly came on again.
From darkness to light.
It's actually a bit dazzling.
She narrowed her eyes subconsciously.
"I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention to pry into your privacy, and I won't reveal anything," he said. "But thank you, Mr. Ling, for your honesty. I'm sure our future cooperation will go smoothly."
He returned to his old indolence.
The tone was very businesslike, without hiding any personal feelings.
It was as if the extreme emotions just now were just her illusion.
She was feeling anxious.
Then I heard him say again: "Don't put chopped green onions next time. I don't like it."
Wang Yuanling’s first reaction was.
Who cares whether you like chopped green onions or not?
Next second.
Realize something.
Her heart was pounding.
When she met his dark and deep eyes, even her breathing slowed down for a beat.
He spoke lazily but softly, "Besides the chopped green onions, if you want to know anything else about me, just ask me. I...will answer any questions you have."
Finally.
He added solemnly, "After all, we are partners, and we need to be honest about everything."
Eye contact.
But he was the first to look away.
"I'm sleepy, let's go back first." His Adam's apple rolled: "Here..."
She looked at him patiently, waiting for his next words.
Gu Zhou pursed his lips, his eyes flashing with unnaturalness: "Here, cough, the wind is strong, you'd better go back early."
Wang Yuanling's lips curled up slightly: "Mr. Gu, do you still need painkillers?"
Gu Zhou raised his eyebrows, emotions surging in his eyes, and his voice became hoarse: "Yes."
She smiled gently: "Then I will go back now and give it to Mr. Gu."
"No need." He said immediately.
Meeting her surprised gaze.
He cleared his throat and said, "I mean, instead of waiting for you here in the cold wind, it would be faster for me to go and get it with you."
