Chapter 424 Falling into Warmth

Chapter 424 Falling into Warmth

The elevator goes up.

Reach the floor and open the door.

Gu Zhou's bony hands pressed against the elevator door to prevent him from pinching her. He tilted his chin slightly outward and said in a low, concise voice, "Get out first."

That unintentional gentleman's gesture was like a small warm current that instantly soothed her heart.

Wang Yuanling raised her eyes, met his calm gaze, and a gentle smile spread across the corners of her lips: "Thank you."

The high heels made a crisp sound as they stepped on the smooth tiles in the corridor.

She stopped in front of her apartment door and was about to place her fingertips on the cold fingerprint sensor area when she heard his lazy reminder from behind: "Be careful when taking a shower. Don't touch the wound."

Wang Yuanling paused, his fingertips suspended in the air, and subconsciously turned his head.

Gu Zhou had unknowingly stood a few steps behind her, his tall figure casting a long shadow under the corridor light.

He opened his palm towards her... On that broad palm, a small tube of ointment was quietly held.

"I just applied some medicine at the hospital, so you don't need to apply it again tonight." His gaze fell on the carefully bandaged area on her slender neck. His tone remained calm, yet it carried undeniable meticulousness. "But starting tomorrow, apply it three times a day."

Wang Yuanling's gaze slowly moved from the small ointment to his sharply defined face.

Thinking of how he had just asked the doctor about every detail, ripples of emotion welled up in my heart.

She lowered her eyes, and her long eyelashes cast a small shadow under her eyes, hiding the subtle ripples in her eyes.

She reached out her hand, her fingertips gently touched his warm palm, and carefully took the tube of ointment that still carried his body temperature.

"Okay, I'll remember that. Thank you, Mr. Gu." Her voice was softer than before, like a feather brushing past.

Gu Zhou's gaze lingered on her drooping eyelashes for a moment, then moved away and gave a lazy "hmm" as a response.

His other hand, which was in his trouser pocket, seemed to unconsciously stroke the edge of the fabric.

Wang Yuanling turned around and finally pressed his fingertips on the sensing area.

The door lock made a slight "click" sound when it unlocked.

She grasped the door handle, pushed it open, leaned half of her body inside, and looked back at him.

The soft light in the corridor clearly outlines his tall and straight pine silhouette.

"Then... Mr. Gu, good night?" She whispered, breaking the silence.

He said slowly, "Hmm." He reminded her, "Turn on the light."

The darkness before her eyes should have been her biggest fear.

But with him standing behind her, it somehow didn't seem so scary anymore.

Wang Yuanling raised his hand, touched the wall, and turned on the light.

The dark room was instantly filled with warm white light.

Maybe it's because it's too late.

Mantou was asleep, so he didn't come out to greet us.

She tilted her head again.

Seeing that he was still standing there, with no intention of leaving.

Her lips parted, as if she wanted to say something.

But he said lazily: "Didn't you say good night? Why don't you go in?"

"Mr. Gu...you should go back too."

He said in a casual tone: "I'll go back after you go in."

Wang Yuanling's eyes paused slightly, and she said softly, "Okay."

She placed her slender fingertips on the door handle.

While closing the door slowly.

Her eyes seemed to have a consciousness of their own, and they looked at him uncontrollably.

He just stood there, motionless, only his deep black eyes, with their usual laziness, stared at her intently.

This was probably the slowest she had ever closed the door.

Despite the slow movement, I still felt that the door hinge was turning too fast.

Until his casual and handsome face was finally completely isolated by the heavy door panel.

Her breathing slowed down unconsciously, and her heart seemed to be filled with something warm and substantial, so full that it even swelled slightly.

He lowered his head, his gaze falling on the small ointment in his palm.

A soft and genuine smile slowly spread across her gentle and fair face.

-

Gu Zhou appeared at the door on time in the morning.

Those sharp black eyes were fixed on the bandage on her neck. His voice was hoarse in the early morning. The first thing he asked was: "Does the wound still hurt?"

Wang Yuanling was stunned for a moment, then smiled faintly: "Actually, it's okay. Thank you, Mr. Gu, for your concern."

Gu Zhou nodded casually, but his movements were extremely familiar and natural, and he stepped into the door.

Upon hearing the noise, Mantou immediately jumped down from the cat climbing frame, trotted over, and looked up at Gu Zhou: "Meow!"

"What delicious food did your mother feed you again, huh? You're almost as fat as a ball." Gu Zhou glanced at the furry white ball at his feet, raised the corners of his lips playfully, bent down, stretched out his long arms, and easily picked up the steamed bun into his arms.

Mantou seemed to understand the word "fat" and meowed loudly in protest.

But her body honestly found a comfortable position in his arms, and the tip of her tail swayed gently and comfortably.

Wang Yuanling looked at the harmonious way they and their cat got along, and the smile in his eyes deepened. "I recently switched to a new brand of food for him. His appetite has improved a lot, and he's indeed become a little plumper."

After hearing this, Gu Zhou raised his eyebrows slightly and scanned her from head to toe with a sullen gaze: "What about you?"

Wang Yuanling was a little confused by his gaze and subconsciously asked, "Me what?"

Gu Zhou's mouth curled up into a mischievous arc, and he said slowly: "You also need to change to a nutritious diet. You are so thin that you will run away in the wind."

Wang Yuanling was amused by his exaggerated statement: "I'm not light either, it's not that exaggerated."

Gu Zhou pursed his lips: "It's not like I haven't hugged you before, I don't know if you are heavy or not."

He spoke in a matter-of-fact tone, as if stating an obvious fact.

After he finished speaking, he seemed to have thought of something and added to himself, his tone carrying a hint of thoughtfulness: "Eat some weight. Next time you encounter a situation like last night, just push back and use your weight to suppress the other person."

His idea is really wild.

Wang Yuanling was speechless.

Just wanted to speak out.

However, Gu Zhou had already overturned this idea. He frowned slightly, and his tone was full of unquestionable decisiveness: "Forget it, that's dangerous. It's safer for me to do it myself." He seemed to be talking to himself, but also seemed to be making some kind of promise to her.

It was rare for him to mutter like this, with an almost childish seriousness that was inconsistent with his usual casual image.

Wang Yuanling found it fresh and couldn't help laughing.

Her beautiful facial features were made even more charming and vivid by the smile that came from the heart, and her eyes were shining brightly.

That smile made Gu Zhou's heart jump inexplicably, as if being scratched by something.

He picked up Mantou's paw and waved it at her, his tone lazy yet with a hint of subtle tenderness: "Mantou, tell your mother that she looks beautiful when she smiles. Tell her to smile more."

I don’t know if Mantou understood or not, but he cooperated and meowed.

Meeting his deep gaze, Wang Yuanling's heart skipped a beat.

She stood there in a daze.

Gu Zhou carried the cat into the kitchen, turned his back to her, and spoke to the cat naturally: "Come, let's see what to make for your mother."

The early morning sunlight streamed in through the window, casting a soft golden edge on the outline of his face. Even his usual casual temperament seemed to be softened a little by the morning light.

Mantou was snoring comfortably in his arms.

The scene was so beautiful, it contained a warmth she had never experienced before.

She was careless.

Fall into warmth.
