Chapter 170: Team Cheng Che, reporting to you

Yun Xiang was unable to go home for the Spring Festival this year. She spent the holiday at school with other left-behind children.

Cheng Che was the same. Although he was a local, he was always the most busy during the Spring Festival. He would go on missions when there were missions, and go out on patrol when there were no missions.

While Yun Xiang was making dumplings, Cheng Che was on a mission.

While Yun Xiang was playing games with the kids, Cheng Che returned to the team to rest.

When Yun Xiang was preparing to eat, Cheng Che had to go on patrol again.

On New Year's Eve, Yun Xiang looked at the children in the classroom who were so happy because they had dumplings to eat, and he felt particularly sorry for them.

There were balloons hanging in the classroom and New Year's wishes written by students on the blackboard.

They wore new clothes sent by donors and received new stationery.

"Let's go outside after dinner. I have a surprise for you." Yun Xiang raised the corners of his mouth, with tenderness in his eyes.

The children's eyes were bright and black. They looked straight at Yun Xiang, cautious but not daring to ask what the surprise was.

By ten o'clock, the village was already very quiet, with no New Year atmosphere at all. A few families had hung two lanterns, which swayed in the wind.

On the school playground, Wan Lai whispered to Yun Xiang, "Teacher Yun, what's the surprise?"

"Shh..."

Yun wanted to signal everyone to be quiet.

Three seconds later, a flash of light streaked across the dark night sky, and with a bang, the fireworks exploded.

The children all looked up and shouted, "Wow!" when they saw the fireworks.

"Wow, it's fireworks!"

Their eyes were lit up by the fireworks, their faces filled with shock and wonder. They jumped up and down, reaching out to grab the fireworks, shouting, "So beautiful, so beautiful!"

The younger children, who had never seen fireworks before, were so scared that they hid at the classroom door and secretly looked out.

Teacher Lin carried her out and patiently explained what it was.

Yunxiang looked at them. The happier they laughed, the more sad she felt in her nose.

The cloud wanted to raise its head and look at the sky.

The cell phone suddenly rang.

Yun wanted to pick up the phone, it was a video call from Cheng Che.

Yun Xiang pressed the answer button, and Cheng Che's face appeared on the phone.

Yun Xiang didn't show him herself, but turned the camera and aimed it at the fireworks in the sky.

Amid the noise of fireworks, Cheng Che heard Yun Xiang say, "Thank you, Brother Cheng Che, for buying fireworks for the children."

Cheng Che raised the corner of his mouth and looked at the fireworks on his phone, his heart tender, "I hope the children like it, and you like it too."

"The children like it, and I like it too!" Yun wanted to respond to him.

Yun Xiang flipped the camera back on his phone and shouted to the other end of the phone, "Cheng Che, Happy New Year!"

She was afraid that he couldn't hear her, so she kept shouting over and over on the other end of the phone: "Cheng Che! Happy New Year!"

"Cheng Che!" She called his name loudly, letting the fireworks in the sky bloom brilliantly.

Cheng Che smiled as he looked at Yun Xiang, whose face was only half visible in the camera. She was so hot, so hot that she seemed to be bursting out of the phone.

She called his name repeatedly, and each word was filled with love and longing.

Cheng Che responded gently, "Well, Happy New Year."

His voice was a little hoarse, even tired, but he kept responding: "Happy New Year, Yun Xiang."

Yun Xiang stared at the camera, her face sometimes bright and sometimes dim. She looked at Cheng Che in the video, her eyes reddening. As if struggling with her inner thoughts, she finally uttered, "Cheng Che, I miss you so much."

Cheng Che pursed his lips. When he heard her words, his heart was lifted up.

When Yun Xiang was not around, he was most afraid of hearing Yun Xiang say that she missed him.

Because he couldn't go see her.

He was also most afraid that Yun would say that he was wronged, and he could only listen without any solution.

"Then what should I do? I'll find a chance to visit you." Cheng Che could only smile and try to cheer her up.

Yun Xiang curled her lips and said aggrievedly, "Cheng Che, the raspberry cake you bought me last time has melted."

Cheng Che smiled, "I'm sorry, I won't let it melt next time."

"Cheng Che." Yun wanted to call his name.

He nodded, his eyes gentle and full of love, "I'm here, baby."

Yun Xiang looked at him, swallowing all the words in his stomach, and finally only said: "Happy New Year."

Cheng Che nodded, the only time he didn't respond.

The video was disconnected, and Yun Xiang stood in the playground for a long time.

Teacher Lin took all the children to bed, and when he came out, he found Yunxiang sitting in a daze on the playground.

"Do you miss home?" asked Teacher Lin.

Yun Xiang shook his head and said, "No."

Teacher Lin smiled faintly and said nothing, instead spending some time with Yunxiang enjoying the breeze. In the dead of night, quiet companionship is the most heartwarming.

The stream flows, and everything comes back to life. Soon, it will be summer again.

Yun Xiang was grading the children's homework when she heard Teacher Lin say, "We just received a notice that fire safety must be implemented in every village office. In the next few days, someone will be here to educate the villagers and children about fire safety."

Yun wants to look up, huh?

"Oh, which firefighter is it? Could it be Xiang Xiang's boyfriend?" Teacher Li joked with a smile in his eyes.

Yun Xiang shook his head and replied with a smile, "Probably not. Cheng Che is the most impatient guy. If he had the chance to come to my place, he would have told me long ago."

"Is that so? That's a shame. If it's him, you can still meet."

Yunxiang shook his head and said nothing.

During lunch break, Yun Xiang sent a message to Cheng Che.

Yun Xiang: Do you know which detachment came to Ani Village?
