Chapter 11 Melted in the Sun

Adhering to the principle that if she herself was suffering, she wouldn't let others be happy either, Qin Luo looked at Doctor You.

"Grandpa You, you should all have one too! Adults can have worms too. Worms not only stunt growth, but they can also make some people skin and bones!"

Dr. You, Qinling, and other emaciated individuals suddenly developed aphasia!

After everyone had taken the deworming medicine, Qin Luo pulled Qin Ling away to a place where no one could see them.

She ran to the corner where the firewood was piled up and pretended to take out a cloth bag, which contained a dozen or so big, bright red apples.

Qin Luo stuffed the cloth bag into Qin Ling's hand.

"Grandpa, these are apples given to you by Lord Kang. Please share them with Grandpa You and Second Grandpa."

Qin Ling had heard about Lord Kang from Qin Xing. Qin Xian had said something wrong, and even though Lord Kang hadn't been struck by lightning, he was still alive!

Seems like a kind-hearted person, giving them such good fruit.

Qinling was somewhat moved.

"Little Luo, you are a lucky girl. Since Lord Kang chose you as his envoy, when you have time, tell your second uncle what Lord Kang looks like and have him carve another statue of him. They are all our benefactors! Remember them!"

After Qin Luo nodded, Qin Ling sent him back to sleep. Qin Luo then went to Qin Liang's house where he was staying.

Liu Zheng whispered in her ear like a thief.

"Luo Luo, your uncle and I don't like those apples, so we saved them for you. If you want some, just take them from your package!"

Qin Luo looked at the package where Liu Zheng had put the silver. In her memory, if any of Qin Yunyang and the others dared to touch it, they would get a beating!

Now, however, she was being asked to go inside and get something, which touched her deeply.

"Auntie, please eat this yourselves. That was given to you by Lord Kang. I have some myself!"

As he spoke, he took out another apple.

Liu Zheng then agreed to eat, while the Qin couple next door were crunching away on their apples. Qin Luo felt sorry for Qin Yundu for a minute.

Only Qin Liang noticed something was wrong.

"Luo Luo, your cloth bag can hold so much stuff, you must keep it safe and make sure no one takes it, okay?"

Qin Luo's awkward response

"Yes, don't worry! Uncle, this was given to us by Lord Kang; it's useless to anyone else!"

Qin Liang nodded

"Go to sleep! Tomorrow I'm going to the county with your uncle!"

Qin Luo perked up instantly upon hearing this.

"Uncle, please take me there! I don't even remember what the county town looks like!"

Qin Liang thought about it and realized it made sense. His mind had only just recovered, and he probably didn't remember anything about his trip to the county town. With that in mind, he simply agreed.

"Then you should go to sleep, you have to get up early tomorrow!"

Qin Luo received a satisfactory answer and fell asleep leaning against Liu Zheng.

Early the next morning

Liu Zheng woke Qin Luo up, and Qin Luo, still half asleep, heard Liu Zheng calling her.

"Luo Luo, get up quickly, your uncle and the others are about to leave. Didn't you say last night you were going to the county town?"

Qin Luo immediately sobered up upon hearing this, and was about to rinse her mouth and wash her face.

Seeing that everyone around them only received a little water each day, they couldn't even afford to drink it, let alone rinse their mouths.

She gave up on rinsing her mouth and washing her face, and could only secretly chew a piece of gum later.

She picked up her cloth bag and was about to run out when Liu Zheng grabbed her arm.

"No need to rush. Tie your hair up, and take this pancake with you. You and your uncle can eat it on the road. It has the pork you brought back yesterday inside; it's delicious!"

He slipped another silver ingot into Qin Luo's hand.

"Our Luoluo has never bought anything for herself before! But we don't know which shops are still open, so just buy whatever you like. Don't worry about the money; if you need more, your uncle will have some."

Qin Luo, her eyes red-rimmed, hugged Liu Zheng tightly. Her mother had said the same thing when she gave her money before.

But because she was too short, Qin Luo's hug only resulted in her just barely falling into Liu Zheng's chest.

Liu Zheng patted her head: "Go on!"

Qin Luo nodded and ran towards the door.

When Qin Liang saw her coming, he waved to her, signaling Qin Luo to come to his side.

She glanced around at Qin Liang; Qin Xing was on his left, Qin Xian on his right, and Qin Yunyuan followed behind.

She roughly understood why Qin Yunyuan had been sickly and rarely went out.

She knew they probably wanted to see it too, so she walked over to them.

Many people went to the county town today; those despicable bandits left the villagers with nothing.

Therefore, the villagers had to go and buy some daily necessities, even though they might not be able to.

As the main force set off, Qin Luo asked Qin Liang, "Uncle, what should we buy?"

"Buy some clothes and shoes, and see if you can find any dried goods. We can't just eat biscuits on the road; we also need to buy some commonly used medicines. The medicine you gave me is too precious, so try not to take it out!"

Qin Luo didn't stop Qin Liang from buying medicine because the villagers assumed Qin Luo only had a few pills and had given them all to the seriously injured.

They weren't sick at the moment, so it didn't matter who ate it.

If one of them gets sick someday, she can still produce pills.

That person's mindset will change; she still understands the principle that possessing a treasure can be a crime.

Therefore, medicine must be bought; no matter how much, some is necessary.

Qin Luo nodded to indicate that she understood, but then she heard Qin Liang's voice.

"Luo Luo, if you get tired later, just tell your uncle, and he'll carry you!"

Qin Luo wondered how far it could be, but Qin Liang smiled at her nonchalant expression.

"You think it's not far? If you walk from here now, you can probably get there by evening if you walk fast!"
