Qin Luo was completely baffled by his words.
Why do you say that?
He Suisui's face was covered in tears, and her voice was choked with sobs.
"If I wasn't adopted, why would my father and the others lie to me?"
Qin Luo was even more confused upon hearing this.
"What did your father lie to you about?"
This question only amplified He Suisui's grievances.
"Dad said Grandma's dried fruit was the best thing in the world! But after eating the milk candy my brother gave me yesterday, I started to have doubts. Now I'm sure he lied to me! I must have been adopted, boohoo~"
Seeing that he was crying harder and harder, Qin Luo hurriedly tried to comfort him.
"No, you're definitely not adopted. You look exactly like your father!"
He Suisui paused upon hearing this: "Really?"
"Absolutely true!"
"So, do you think my father is handsome?"
"So beautiful, so incredibly beautiful, just as beautiful as you!"
Hearing her say that, He Suisui finally stopped crying and smiled.
Just as I was about to raise my hand to wipe away my tears, the village chief's wife and daughter-in-law returned.
Upon entering the courtyard, I saw my own child wiping away tears, with a little girl with a scar on her face beside her.
The two of them were obviously the jinx the villagers were talking about, the one who brought misfortune to the Qin family!
They thought He Suisui was crying because she was frightened by the scar on her face.
The village chief's wife quickly stepped forward and picked him up.
Yu Fangfang apologized to Qin Luo repeatedly.
"Qin family girl, I'm so sorry! Sui Sui is just being silly, please don't take it to heart!"
The village chief's wife said apologetically, "Yes, child, please don't take offense!"
The two children looked completely bewildered, with He Suisui staring at her mother and grandmother with a puzzled expression.
"Mother, Grandma, what are you talking about? My sister and I are having so much fun together!"
The village chief's wife looked at him with puzzlement.
"Then why are you crying?"
He Suisui recounted what had happened between the two, including Qin Luo's claim that the Qin family's children were magicians.
Qin Luo was so embarrassed that he almost tore the soles of his shoes apart.
After hearing this, the village chief's wife and Yu Fangfang realized they had misunderstood.
She then showered Qin Luo with compliments, saying exactly the same things He Suisui had.
"Qin family girl, you have such beautiful eyes; I think that veil is completely unnecessary!"
I looked up at the sun again.
"Have lunch at my place today. I'll cook you authentic local food, it'll be delicious, I guarantee you've never had anything like it before!"
Before Qin Luo could refuse, she heard He Suisui's sabotage.
"Grandma is lying! Grandma's cooking isn't good at all. Aunt Qin's cooking is much better!"
The village chief's wife was almost driven crazy by her beloved grandson.
It's one thing to say your dried fruit tastes bad, but now you're even complaining about the food you cook.
Seeing her mother-in-law's displeasure, Yu Fangfang pinched He Suisui's cheeks and began to criticize her.
"Sui Sui, how could you say that? Grandma works so hard cooking!"
He Suisui looked at her without any fear.
"Mother, tell the truth!"
Yu Fangfang…
While she was feeling awkward, Qin Luo handed the dried fruit to the village chief's wife.
"Grandma, please try this. If you like it, I'll give you the recipe!"
The village chief's wife never expected her to be so generous, even giving him a prescription.
She picked up a piece and tasted it.
"Wow, this is really something else! This dried fruit is so delicious!"
Qin Luo took out a pen and ink from the cloth bag.
She wrote down the method for making dried fruit using her messy, chicken-cut handwriting.
"Grandma, just follow these instructions. If you don't find the necessary seasonings, just wait a few days until my Grandpa You's pharmacy gets them and you can come and pick them up!"
The village chief's wife was astonished upon hearing this.
"What! You need medicinal herbs to make dried fruit?!"
Qin Luo didn't know how to explain to her that licorice, wampee, and monk fruit could all be used to make dried fruit.
All I can say is that adding some medicinal herbs is good for your health; it tastes good and is healthy too!
Upon hearing this, the village chief's wife immediately and carefully put away the prescription.
"We can't lose such a good recipe. When Grandma makes it, you should try it too. If it tastes as good as this, we'll have another source of income. Grandma will give you a share; you definitely won't lose out!"
Upon hearing this, Qin Luo looked at her with newfound respect, noting that she had a knack for business.
He's also very generous and never thought of eating alone.
However, Qin Luo still politely declined.
"Grandma, what's yours is yours. You can sell it or make it for yourself, it's up to you. If my family grows fruit in the future, you can come to my house to buy fruit to make dried fruit!"
The village chief's wife slapped her thigh: "That's the plan!"
The two of them thus turned a potentially impossible deal into a transaction.
Yu Fangfang and He Suisui didn't listen to what they said next and finished the bag of dried fruit completely.
By this time, Qin Ling and the others had finished their discussion and come out. Village Chief He invited them to stay for lunch, but Qin Ling declined.
He said his family had already told him to come home for dinner before he left.
Qin Luo gave He Suisui another bag of dried fruit, made an appointment with him for a time to play the next day, and then went home with Qin Ling.
Upon arriving home, Qinling convened a group meeting and even invited Wu Hua to sit in the seat of honor.
He cleared his throat, giving off an air of extraordinary seriousness.
"Village Chief He said the school could be built in the village square, the land would be free, and all tuition fees for the children would be covered by the village head. The village would also provide an extra grain subsidy every year!"
After speaking, he looked at Wu Hua.
Wu Hua, acting like a leader, expressed her opinion.
"Very good, but the school should be built larger, and it would be best to hire a few more teachers to ensure simultaneous development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education!"
The people didn't understand what "moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education" meant, and looked at Qin Luo again.
