Half an hour later, Mr. Yuan put down his appraisal tools and touched the marks on the mutton fat jade and jadeite.
He had seen this mark in ancient books; it was the mark of a royal family from a thousand years ago.
I wondered if these two children were perhaps descendants of an ancient royal family?
Otherwise, how could there be so many royal treasures? It seems we need to notify the heads of some established families overnight.
He straightened his posture and looked at Qin Luo.
"These are all top-quality items. However, since the main focus of this auction is the jade tree, these items can only be auctioned before the jade tree. The price will be determined by the auction house based on the wealth of the guests on that day. Is that alright?"
Qin Luo couldn't wait to bid on his own items first, so he could get the money and then bid on Wen Yushu.
There was naturally no objection, especially since she didn't know how much to set the price.
Their pricing is just right, and since they take a cut, they certainly won't set the price very low.
So she readily agreed.
"Can!"
The manager then handed Qin Luo the gold card for the top-tier private room and the receipt for the auction items.
"You can use this card to enter the auction house tomorrow!"
Qin Luo carefully put away the card and receipts, bid farewell to Elder Yuan, and prepared to return to the inn.
Wu Hua tugged at her sleeve, signaling her to wait a moment.
Then Qin Luo saw it take a magnifying glass out of the bag and hand it to Elder Yuan.
"This is for you!"
Although Mr. Yuan didn't know what it was, he could tell from the glass on it that it wasn't cheap.
"Young friend, have you gotten your brother's permission before being so generous?"
Qin Luo nodded immediately: "Since my son likes you, I naturally agree to him giving you gifts!"
Old Yuan picked up Wu Hua and asked, "Your name is Zaizai! Why do you like me?"
Wu Hua stroked his white beard.
"Because you are like an elder in my family!"
Upon hearing this, Elder Yuan paused for a moment, then put Wu Hua down.
He went to the drawer under the long table, took out a gold bell with a red string attached, and hung it around Wu Hua's neck.
"I really like your gift, my little one. This is my return gift to you!"
Wu Hua picked up the bell and shook it; the sound was clear and melodious.
"Thank you, I really appreciate your return gift!"
Old Wen, who had been in shock the whole time, almost popped his eyes out when he saw the bell.
In Hanyun County, everyone knows this golden bell. It's a symbol of Elder Yuan; seeing the bell is like seeing him in person.
But Lao Wen didn't say a word, nor did he overstep his bounds by uttering any dissent. He waited until the manager saw Qin Luo and the others out the door.
When Mr. Yuan picked up the magnifying glass to take a look, he was almost speechless with astonishment.
"Truly a divine object!"
He then summoned the steward and ordered him to call more guards to protect Qin Luo and Wu Hua.
The person in charge was unclear about the situation.
"Elder Yuan, didn't you give that child the golden bell? No one in Hanyun County will bother them!"
Old Yuan glared at him
"Am I worried about the people within the county? I'm worried about those rich kids from other places; they're all incredibly arrogant and domineering!"
Upon hearing this, the steward joked, "You don't actually care about that child, do you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he was met with a barrage of scolding from Elder Yuan.
"You think you can get away with this? You dare to meddle in my business? Go and get things done, and send a carriage to take the two of them back, or you'll be in big trouble!"
Before he could speak again, the steward sheepishly went to inform the guards.
Yuan Lao sighed while holding a magnifying glass.
"If my son were still alive, my grandson would probably be older than this child now..."
After leaving the auction house, Qin Luo and Wu Hua headed towards the inn.
After walking for a while, he remembered that Old Wen was following behind him.
"You can go back now! See you at the auction house tomorrow!"
Upon hearing this, Old Wen seemed to have something to say, but hesitated, then simply nodded and walked into the night behind him.
After he left, Qin Luo was about to throw off the vines and leap towards the inn when Wu Hua stopped her.
"Someone is following us in the dark. We'd better just walk back!"
No sooner had it finished speaking than the sound of horses' hooves came from behind it.
The driver was the steward who had just greeted them; he drove the carriage to a stop beside them.
"Gentlemen, Elder Yuan sent me to escort you back to the inn!"
Qin Luo didn't stand on ceremony upon hearing this, picked up Wu Hua and got into the carriage.
"Then thank you very much, Elder Yuan and Fifth Uncle!"
Wu Hua now has an exceptional grasp of interpersonal relationships; she can handle them in an instant.
Following Qin Luo's words, he said, "Thank you, Grandpa! Thank you, Fifth Uncle!"
The manager was slightly taken aback upon hearing this, then burst out laughing.
"Haha! You're too kind, young friend!"
He hadn't expected that these two children would still care about him.
After so many years as the auction house manager, today was the most triumphant day of his life.
Of all the managers, he was the least outstanding; his performance was poor, and he wasn't good at speaking.
If it weren't for Mr. Yuan's kind heart, he probably would have been fired long ago.
The items Qin Luo and Wu Hua brought today were all top-quality.
He was suddenly promoted from a third-class steward to a first-class position.
He already felt grateful to Qin Luo and Wu Hua, and now being called "Fifth Uncle" warmed his heart even more.
After the two were ready, he raised his riding whip.
"Young friends, please be seated. We're about to set off!"
Qin Luo and Wu Hua obediently replied, "Okay!"
The three of them remained silent the entire way until they reached the entrance of the Bafang Inn.
The fifth steward parked the car and specially brought footstools for the two of them.
"Slow down and watch your step!"
Qin Luo and Wu Hua smiled brightly at him: "Thank you, Fifth Uncle!"
The fifth steward couldn't resist, reaching out to pat Qin Luo on the shoulder and patting Wu Hua's little head.
"I'll come pick you up first thing tomorrow morning!"
Qin Luo and Wu Hua politely said goodbye to him: "Okay! See you tomorrow!"
