Chapter 3: He Didn't Die

As expected, he drank the diluted water from the spatial stream.

The wound on Qin Xing's lips slowly healed!

She didn't look tired at all when she first arrived.

Qin Xing also felt much more energetic and was deeply moved.

"As expected of the water given by the mountain king, it's even more effective than Doctor You's medicine!"

He then gave Qin Luo a serious warning.

"Luo Luo, you must never tell anyone that the Mountain Lord healed you. It's bad for the Mountain Lord if he finds out. If the bandits find out, the Mountain Lord will never have peace!"

"I understand, Third Uncle, don't worry!"

Qin Xing felt very comforted to see how clever she was.

"Alright, I'll have my colleagues keep watch outside the ancestral hall. You stay inside and don't go out. I'll go find a bucket and get them some water to put outside!"

As soon as Qin Xing finished speaking, Qin Luo ran behind the offering table and pulled out a smaller plastic bucket.

Qin Xing asked curiously, "What material is this? I've never seen it before!"

Qin Luo pointed to the large plastic bucket placed near the water tank.

"Just like that one, they were all left behind by the mountain tigers. I still need to return them!"

Qin Xing looked at the unfamiliar bucket and scratched his head.

"Wouldn't it be too abrupt to take this out, since no one has ever seen it before?"

Qin Luo also fell silent, then heard Wu Hua's sweet, childlike voice.

"Luo Luo, go find a place to take the wooden bucket out!"

Qin Luo was puzzled

"We don't have wooden barrels, only stainless steel and plastic ones, and neither of those exist in this day and age. We just brought out the only wooden bowls we had!"

Wu Hua proudly raised her little pig head.

"I just dug it out of wood, and it can hold water!"

"Sweetie, you're amazing!"

After praising Wu Hua in his heart, Qin Luo ran behind Fang Zhu and took out a large wooden bucket, handing it to Qin Xing.

Qin Xing felt that something was wrong, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Looking at the strange wooden bucket in his hand, he felt increasingly uneasy.

But he didn't ask any questions and went straight to get water.

When people arrived at the entrance of the ancestral hall, Qin Xing carried the wooden bucket and walked towards the door.

It was like a casual chat.

"Luo Luo, did you like the candy your uncle bought you before? If you liked it, your uncle will buy you more next time!"

Qin Luo's expression remained unchanged, but inside he was panicking, frantically searching his memory for this moment.

Then she said, "Third Uncle, you didn't buy me candy last time! You bought me osmanthus cake instead. Auntie said I shouldn't eat too much candy or my teeth will rot. Could you buy me osmanthus cake next time?"

Qin Xing smiled genuinely only after hearing the correct answer.

"Okay, I'll buy lots more next time!"

Then they carried the water out of the ancestral hall.

Seeing Qin Xing leave, Qin Luo finally breathed a sigh of relief and mentally complained to Wu Hua.

"Looks like I still have to play dumb. Being too smart will arouse suspicion! Wait a minute! Qin Luoluo just has a bit of a split personality; she's actually incredibly smart!"

Wu Hua scratched her head in confusion.

"Really? But this body is you! It's just shrunk. You are her, and she is you. There's no need to pretend!"

"What do you mean 'I am her'? I'm eight years older than her, and we live in different worlds. How can we be the same person?"

Upon hearing Qin Luo's question, Wu Hua put her hands on her hips.

"You question the auspicious beast? I'm sure I'm right. We beasts are extremely sensitive to auras. You two are the same person, like souls forced apart, but it doesn't seem to affect you much!"

"If that's the case, then I still have relatives alive? Quite a few, actually! That's wonderful!" Qin Luo's eyes were filled with the joy of having regained what she had lost.

"Wow! Luo Luo, then I have family now! Your family is my family too!"

"Yes, we both have families now!"

Outside the ancestral hall, Qin Xing arranged for his colleagues to guard Qin Luo inside.

After filling several water bags, he went up the mountain with the magistrate and others to search for people.

The group searched for almost two hours in Luoyun Mountain before finally finding Qinling and his companions.

Qin Xing hurriedly stepped forward to apologize to Qin Ling.

"Uncle, Father, you've suffered so much! It's my fault for being so late. Please have some water!"

Qin Xing handed the water pouches he had brought to Qin Ling and Qin Jun, and then went to distribute them to the others.

Once everyone has had their water!

After everyone had drunk water, they went to pay their respects to the magistrate.

"Thank you so much, Magistrate, for coming to our rescue. We will forever remember this kindness!"

County Magistrate Wei Yanqing stepped forward and helped Qin Ling up.

"Village Chief Qin, what are you saying? This is just my duty, there's no need for thanks. Let's hurry down the mountain; these mountains are the most dangerous place during a famine!"

"Yes, yes, let's hurry down the mountain!"

After Qin Ling finished speaking, he bowed again to the county magistrate.

"Sir, we'd appreciate it if the constables could lend a hand. Many villagers are injured, and some are unable to walk on their own..."

Wei Yanqing offered a helping hand to Qin Ling, then turned to look at Qin Xing.

"Qin Xing, arrange for some people to help the injured villagers. We'll go down the mountain immediately!"

After Qin Xing finished speaking, he headed towards the cave.

Seeing more than twenty people with varying degrees of injury inside the cave

Tears welled up in her eyes.

Qin Xian and Li Sheng have already lost consciousness; they are the two most seriously injured!

Dr. You's medicine has run out!

The vegetation on the mountain is withered, making it impossible to collect medicinal herbs.

Qin Liang hasn't slept a wink since yesterday.

He stayed by Qin Xian and Li Sheng's side the whole time, afraid that they might die when he wasn't looking...

Qin Xing looked at Qin Liang and saw that he was very tired.

Where is even a trace of the gentle and refined image of a scholar?

Little Qi, who is usually lively and energetic, was lying there half-dead and motionless.

Qin Xing was heartbroken and walked over to Qin Liang, lowering her voice.
