The older woman noticed that although she had some blemishes on her face, her eyes were clear and she didn't look very old, so she said a few words to her.
"They say a noble person has gone missing in the city, so the city gates must be sealed off, and we don't know when they'll be open! This is really a headache!"
Qin Luo glanced at the basket in the woman's hand and guessed that she must have come to sell something.
So I casually asked, "Auntie, are you taking this to the city to sell? What are you selling?"
Seeing her interest, the older woman lifted the cloth covering the basket to show her.
"There is a wealthy merchant named Ye in the county who loves orchids very much. A few days ago, he offered a reward of one hundred taels of gold, saying that he wanted to find orchids of any kind, as long as they were of good quality. He said that anyone who could inquire about the price of an orchid at the Ye residence could do so. So everyone went to the mountains to dig some up and try to exchange them for some money!"
Qin Luo noticed that the flowers in her basket were almost wilted, so she kindly reminded her...
"Auntie, could you water the flowers? They're all dried out!"
The woman shook the water bag and then closed the basket again.
"We've finished drinking it all. Let's go fetch some more from the ditch later and then use it for watering!"
Upon hearing this, Qin Luo reached into the cloth bag, took out a water pouch containing ordinary water, opened it, and handed it to her.
"Auntie, I have some here, let me water it a little first!"
The woman didn't stand on ceremony, took the water and started watering, then returned the water bag to her.
"Child, you mustn't do that again!"
Qin Luo was completely confused by what she said.
"What's wrong?"
The aunt patted her arm
"You are a kind-hearted person, but there are also many bad people in this world. What if you encounter those scoundrels who claim there's something wrong with your water, that it caused problems with their flowers, and then try to extort money from you? You can't be too careful!"
Qin Luo hadn't really thought of this. She bowed to the older woman.
"Thank you, Auntie, I've learned a lot!"
The older woman quickly helped her up.
"You child, why are you being so polite? I only mentioned it because I think you're about the same age as my Erbing!"
Hearing her say that, Qin Luo took out two more apples and put them into her basket.
"Erbing must have an older brother named Dabing. We happen to have two fruits; let's invite them to try them!"
The older woman hadn't expected her to be so polite and kept declining.
"How can I accept your things! Take them back right now!"
Qin Luo grabbed her hand.
"Auntie, you're too kind. You've been my teacher today, so these two fruits are my tuition!"
The aunt blushed upon hearing this.
"Haha, you have such a sweet tongue, child! Well then, Auntie won't stand on ceremony with you! Thank you for the two pancakes from my family! By the way, what's your name, child? We need to know your name so they know whose fruit you're eating!"
Qin Luo was amused by her statement.
"Haha, Auntie, my name is Qin Luo. You can call me Xiao Luo or Luo Luo, that's what everyone in my family calls me!"
"Alright, Xiao Luo! Let's go find a shady spot to rest for a while. The city gates definitely won't be open today, so let's not waste our time waiting here with them!"
"Isn't Auntie going home?"
The aunt shook her head.
"We've come all this way, and we're here because we want to sell our stuff before we go back!"
Qin Luo nodded, then led Ejiao and the aunt to a shady spot to sit.
Before long, more and more people gathered around to rest, and Qin Luo seemed to see the scene of the migration.
The city gates showed no sign of opening even as the sun set.
Everyone was sighing and complaining.
"I wonder who this important person is. How could they have lost so many servants!"
"That's right, because of him, we have to spend the night in this desolate place!"
"Sigh! Who told us we couldn't compare to their preciousness!"
The older woman didn't follow their lead; instead, she looked at Qin Luo with optimism.
"Xiao Luo, we're so lucky!"
Qin Luo couldn't keep up with her train of thought.
Why do you say that, Aunt?
"We definitely can't move around in the city now. We're lucky we didn't go in, otherwise we would have had a lot of trouble if they had checked us!"
Qin Luo's agreement
"In that case, we're really lucky!"
The aunt's tone was quite arrogant.
"Who can argue with that!"
Then they both burst out laughing: "Hahahaha~"
People around them didn't understand, and even thought there was something wrong with the two of them!
The older woman didn't care what others thought of them, and handed Qin Luo a piece of flatbread.
"Take this and eat it, don't be shy with your auntie!"
Qin Luo didn't stand on ceremony at all. She took the pancake, took out her homemade chili sauce from her cloth bag, and handed it to her.
"Auntie, this is a sauce I made myself. Would you like to try some?"
The auntie swallowed hard as she smelled the aroma.
"Then shall we try it?"
Qin Luo took out a wooden spoon and scooped a large spoonful for her.
"It's especially delicious when you wrap it in a pancake!"
The woman spread the pancake out in her hand and caught the chili sauce.
"Wow, you've given me so much! You're so generous!"
Qin Luo felt that this woman was very different; she was very optimistic and had a forthright personality.
I feel very relaxed when I'm with her.
"Auntie, why are you always smiling? Whether you're queuing or others are complaining, you're always smiling!"
As her aunt ate the pancake, she praised Qin Luo's cooking skills while answering her...
"Having suffered so much, and now that things are finally starting to get better, why make yourself unhappy?"
Qin Luo suddenly had a flash of enlightenment. Yes! People should naturally face the sun and get rid of the shadows!
Thinking positively will make things better. Whether you're happy or not, life goes on, so why not greet each new day with positivity and joy?
Qin Luo's eyes sparkled as she looked at the older woman.
"Auntie, you're a philosopher!"
