To avoid the awkwardness of them asking any more questions, Qin Luo pulled Liu Zheng and called out to Doctor You.
"Grandpa You, let's go back to where we're staying!"
Liu Zheng quickly chimed in.
"Yes, yes, let's hurry! The three of you must be starving. Let's go back, wash up, eat, and get a good night's sleep!"
The group walked towards the inn.
After the three of them had finished getting ready, Liu Zheng had already ordered the food and drinks and was waiting for them.
Since Jingming and the others are vegetarians, we ordered a vegetarian meal. After we sat down, we ate and chatted.
Qin Luo didn't see Qin Ling and the other villagers, so he asked Qin Liang.
"Uncle, Great-Grandfather, and the others? I haven't seen a single one."
Qin Liang placed the food he had picked up into her bowl before replying.
"Your great-grandfather and third uncle led the villagers ahead; they've probably arrived at the resettlement site by now. We need to set off early tomorrow morning to get there and settle down as soon as possible!"
Qin Luo felt guilty for slowing down the journey.
"I'm sorry, I'm the one who delayed your trip!"
Qin Liang waved his hand dismissively.
"The deadline for the travel permit is the end of September, so we managed to get it done at the beginning of the month without any delays!"
Dr. You also offered words of comfort to her.
"Your great-grandfather is a kind-hearted man; he wouldn't abandon the villagers. He won't feel at ease until he's safely evacuated them all!"
Qin Luo also had nothing but praise for Qinling.
"Yes, Grandpa was indeed a good village chief. Now that we're at the resettlement site, will we have a new village chief?"
Qin Liang asked her in return
"What? Are you worried your great-grandfather will be sad if he can't be the village chief?"
Qin Luo remained silent for a moment before replying to him.
"Does Grandpa know how?"
Qin Liang sighed as he thought of this.
"There are only eighty-three people left in our village, and most of them are elderly and infirm. They will probably be scattered to other villages! My uncle understands this, and he's probably a little disappointed..."
Qin Yunyang raised his hand upon hearing this.
"Father, it's alright, we're still a family, and Grandpa can still take care of us!"
Qin Yunhao also raised his hand.
"Yes, we don't have many people now, but once all the brothers get married, there will be more and more people!"
Qin Yunze then continued...
"Yes, I'll marry her too! And we'll have lots and lots of babies, just like Father said, an endless, continuous lineage!"
Everyone was amused by the three brothers' words, and Qin Luo applauded them.
"Yes! My elder brother and younger brother are right!"
Qin Xian had been wanting to know what had happened on their journey for a long time, so he kept asking Mu Feng questions, while Qin Yun Ning also whispered to Jing Ming.
Qin Luo then recounted the events of the journey to Liu Zheng and the others, leaving everyone deeply moved after listening.
Qin Liang, Liu Zheng, and Doctor You all lamented Niu Niu's unfortunate fate...
The temple keeper and Jingming's fellow disciples prepared to pray for Niu Niu's spirit after the meal!
While feeling sorry for Niu Niu, the Cloth Bag Team regretted even more that they hadn't gone with her and missed seeing Little Deer Bai Afu!
Only Qin Xian seemed to sense something and glanced at Tao Zhi's abdomen...
Early the next morning
Liu Zheng made the egg pancakes that Wu Hua had been longing for.
Qin Luo kept his promise and bought two large baskets of eggs to put in his space.
Wu Hua happily ate her egg pancake, her little bottom wiggling back and forth.
With a flick of its little hoof, the sorghum seedlings were planted...
After breakfast, the group packed up and set off.
Mu Feng drove the 700-mile cart ahead, while Qin Xian followed behind, driving the donkey-hide gelatin cart.
The Qin brothers could have ridden in a donkey or horse cart, but they chose to walk with Jingming instead!
The journey was filled with laughter and joy, and there were no more bandits or thieves.
Noon ten days later
Qin Liang and the others finally arrived at their resettlement location, Weisi County!
Qin Ling and Qin Xing had been waiting at the city gate for several days. As soon as the Cloth Bag Squad saw the two of them, they immediately ran over.
Holding their arms, Qin Ling called them "Great-Grandpa" and "Third Uncle," and happily hugged them one by one.
Finally, he waved to the children.
"Come on, Grandpa will take you to register, and then we'll go back to our current village for a visit!"
Along the way, everyone kept asking questions!
Doctor You also pulled Qinling aside to ask questions.
"Old friend, how far is this new village from the county town? There are no mountains here, so I'll have to buy medicinal herbs with money from now on. I'll definitely be going to town often!"
"It's not far at all, less than half the distance from our village to the county town! Let's register, grab a bite to eat, and we can still make it back in time for dinner!"
Dr. You asked with great satisfaction
"So what's the name of our village?"
"Danruo Village! The whole village is full of Danruo trees. In another month or two, the fruit will be ripe, and that'll be a beautiful sight!"
Qin Xian eagerly raised his hand to ask.
"Uncle, are we assigned to the same village?"
Before Qin Ling could reply, Qin Xing hooked his arm around his shoulder.
"Don't worry! My uncle has been on very good terms with the village chief lately, and he's already made arrangements to reserve spots for you!"
Upon hearing this, Qin Liang looked at Qin Xing and asked, "Third cousin, are there any other villagers and clansmen who are in the same village as us?"
"Yes, there are about thirty or so. The rest live nearby; Mr. Li and Aunt Liu's families live with us too!"
Qin Liang was very happy to hear this.
"That's great! Are there any spare houses for sale in the village? Or should we build them ourselves?"
Qin Xing glanced at Qin Ling before whispering something in his ear.
"Yes, there are some, but my uncle didn't say he wanted to buy them; he just rented them for three months. The villagers and clansmen, however, bought them!"
Seeing his cautiousness, Qin Liang also asked in a low voice.
