Chapter 248: Raising a Tiger to Cause Trouble

Two delicate shouts rang out simultaneously, and two rouge-colored horses shot out like arrows from a bow. Jiang Songyi brushed past the edge of her brother's clothes, her crimson cloak sweeping across his sullen face. "Third brother, if you have time to bother with us, why don't you think about how to appease Miss Yuyao? I heard that the Fourth Prince's palace summoned the imperial physician again last night?"

"Jiang, Song, Yi!"

The furious roar startled birds, while the girl's silver bell-like laughter gradually faded away. Su Sheng led the way, his dark cloak rustling in the wind. "Captain Gu is on duty before the emperor, the one wearing the flying fish robe and carrying the embroidered spring sword!"

Bai Linxi suddenly reined in her horse and turned it around under Jiang Songyi's questioning gaze. She met Jiang Yihuan's murderous gaze with a sweet smile, "I forgot to mention that when Lord Gu gave me the White Feather Arrow last month, he also praised my excellent riding skills."

Jiang Yihuan's knuckles turned white as he gripped the reins as he watched the three of them ride side by side. Gu Chenzhou was waiting beside the dragon chariot, and upon seeing them, he smiled for the first time, startling the accompanying officials so much that they dropped their tablets.

"Asshole!" Jiang Yihuan whipped the old tree by the roadside, shaking off the green leaves. He was about to spur his horse to chase after him when he heard sobbing behind him.

Jiang Yuyao was leaning against Xinyi Zigu, wiping away tears: "If I had known that Master Su hated me so much, I shouldn't have done that in the first place."

"Who are you pretending for?" Jiang Yihan was furious, and his warhorse was pedaling anxiously. "If you hadn't instigated Lin Xi, none of this trouble would have happened!" After saying that, he ignored the prince's gloomy face and rode his horse straight towards the imperial team.

At that moment, the official roads outside the capital were bustling with activity, young men in splendid attire galloped along on horses, and young women in flowing skirts fluttered. Suddenly, dozens of horses broke free and galloped wildly, startling the imperial guards, who shouted at them repeatedly.

Jiang Yihan squinted his eyes in the smoke and dust, vaguely seeing his sister pushing Bai Linxi towards Gu Chenzhou, and the Embroidered Spring Sword that he never left behind was willing to serve as a support for the girl to pick up arrows.

Jiang Yihuan was about to spur his horse to chase after him when he suddenly heard a cry from behind him: "Third brother! Sister Xue looks so unhappy!"

Xue Xin slumped over the horse's back, panting softly, her plain veil soaked with sweat. She forced a smile at Jiang Yihuan, her hair clinging to her pale cheeks. "Perhaps Lingnan has never experienced such intense heat." As her slender fingers loosened the reins, she swayed and nearly fell off the horse.

Jiang Yihuan quickly reached out to hold her arm, but it was icy cold. "Why are you trying so hard?" He turned to look at the convoy behind him. "Someone, bring the medicine box."

"There's no need to mobilize so many troops." Xue Xin used his arm to sit up straight, took out the mint ointment from his purse and gently rubbed his temples. "General, go find Miss Bai quickly. She just rode her horse west."

"Who's looking for her?" Jiang Yihuan retracted his hand as if it were on fire, and the black iron wristband clashed against the gold ornaments on the saddle. "She has a sour face all day long, as if someone owes her eight hundred taels of silver!"

A sudden gust of wind blew through the woods, carrying dead leaves and brushing against the silver hairpin in Xue Xin's hair. She looked at the young general's reddened ears and chuckled softly, "If Miss Bai had truly irritated the general, she should have whipped you with her horsewhip just now."

"How dare she!" Jiang Yihuan subconsciously pressed the whip marks on his waist, which were left during the sparring last month. The black-maned warhorse suddenly snorted, as if remembering something.

Xue Xin was about to persuade him again when he heard the sound of galloping horses. Jiang Jinzhao rode through the crowd, his moon-white brocade robe stained with grass debris, evidently returning from the depths of the hunting grounds. He glanced around, his brow furrowed. "Third brother, have you seen Song Yi?"

"Big Brother!" Jiang Yuyao suddenly stood up, her pomegranate-red skirt brushing the Fourth Prince's knees. She gazed at the familiar jade hairpin at her eldest brother's waist, remembering the pearl hairpin he had personally placed on her when she came of age. Her nose suddenly felt sore. "Yuyao is here."

Xinyi Zigu keenly noticed the slight tremor in his arms, and he took the opportunity to hold her slender waist tightly and said with a smile: "Minister Jiang, you came at the right time. Yuyao was just talking about her brother."

Jiang Jinzhao tugged at the reins as if scorched by fire. Zhao Yebai neighed and retreated half a step, leaving the entangled figure of the Fourth Prince and his wife five steps away. His eyes swept over the trembling golden hairpins in Jiang Yuyao's hair. His Adam's apple moved, and finally he lowered his eyes and bowed, "I am so anxious to find my legitimate sister that I have disturbed Your Highness and Concubine Hao."

The forest suddenly became dead silent.

Jiang Yuyao dug her nails deep into her palms, and the color drained from Furong's face. Her eldest brother always said she was the most well-behaved sister in the Marquis's mansion, but now even that title was being stripped away.

"Brother, are you confused?" Jiang Yihan interrupted hurriedly, "Yuyao is the one."

"Third brother, be careful with your words." Jiang Jinzhao suddenly raised his eyes, his gentle gaze turning into a sharp blade. "Ever since father removed the Hao family from the family tree, the Yongding Marquis's Mansion has only one daughter, Songyi." He pulled the reins to turn the horse's head, and the jade pendant made a crisp sound when it clashed with the forbidden steps. "If you continue to confuse the hierarchy of bloodlines, don't blame me for calling on the family rules."

Xinyi Zigu's pupils shrank slightly. He had originally thought the Marquisate's expulsion of their daughter was just a show, but now it seemed so. He caught a glimpse of Jiang Yuyao's shaky appearance, and suddenly felt that the woman in his arms was lighter than an autumn leaf.

"Minister Jiang is so powerful." The Fourth Prince sneered as he stroked his concubine's head. "I just don't know what's going on with your sister right now." He deliberately dragged out his words. "Which young master is she having a secret meeting with in the woods?"

Jiang Jinzhao's hand gripping the reins bulged with veins. He was about to speak when Xue Xin rode forward. "How dare you! I just saw Miss Jiang heading towards Luming Gorge." She inconspicuously placed herself between the two of them. "There are so many poisonous insects and miasma over there. Young General Jiang is no match for them."

"You're such a mouthful!" Jiang Yihuan suddenly shouted, startling the birds in the forest and scattering. He glared at his brother fiercely: "Brother, are you also learning the style of flattering the powerful and looking down on the weak? Yuyao didn't even have a dowry when she got married, you..."

"Third brother, please stop talking!" Jiang Yuyao suddenly covered her face and sobbed, her pearl earrings dangling around her pale neck. "Yuyao is unlucky and unworthy of being the daughter of a marquis." She turned around and buried her face in the arms of the fourth prince, and the embroidered fabric was instantly soaked.
