Gao Zhijun got off the carriage and saw that the stall in front was being smashed and the paintings were torn up by two people.
"Aren't you very capable? How dare you sue me!"
"Smash it! Smash it, smash it hard!"
"Tear it up, tear it up as much as you want. If anything happens, the worst that can happen is that you have to pay him some money."
Duan Hai pointed at his servants and told them to smash the stall and tear up the paintings. After all, his family had plenty of money and was not afraid of compensation.
"Please don't tear up my paintings, Duan Hai, tell them to stop."
Qiao Yuanhang begged Duan Hai desperately, hoping that he would show mercy and ask his servants not to tear up the painting again, as he was going to sell it to buy medicine for his parents.
Seeing that his pleading was useless and the painting was still being torn, Qiao Yuanhang glared at Duan Hai with anger and resentment and said, "Don't you know what happened? If you hadn't slandered me for stealing the silver, the master wouldn't have found out that it was you who framed him. You deserve it, you can't blame anyone else."
"Alright! Even at this point, you're still sharp-tongued and witty. If I don't beat you to death, I'm not Duan Hai!"
Duan Hai was so angry that he asked the servants who smashed the stall and tore up the paintings to hold Qiao Yuanhang down, and he wanted to beat him himself.
The servant dropped the calligraphy and painting, ran over and held Qiao Yuanhang down. Qiao Yuanhang kept struggling, but as a weak scholar, he could not break free from the two burly men. He was pinned down and could only glare at Duan Hai.
"Why are you staring at me? If you keep staring at me, I'll dig your eyes out."
"Weren't you eloquent just now? How come you became mute?"
"So what if you're educated? You're still under my feet. Let me tell you, for someone like you, wanting you dead is as easy as stepping on an ant."
Duan Hai came in front of Qiao Yuanhang, looking down at him arrogantly and with contempt.
My father was the largest grain merchant in the city. The grain he sold was the food supply for the people of the city. His position was unshakable. Even the prefect had to be polite and courteous to him.
My father said that as long as no one was killed, he would take care of the rest and he had plenty of money to pay for compensation.
"You are so arrogant! Do you think the laws of Daliang are just for show?"
What an ignorant person. Among the four classes of people, scholars, farmers, merchants and artisans, merchants are ranked last and are the most looked down upon.
Although his father was a grain merchant and controlled the grain in Qinzhou, if someone really died, the prefect would not dare to deal with it hastily.
"Let me tell you, in Qinzhou, even the prefect has to show some courtesy to my father. How can you be so confident that the prefect would offend the Duan family and my father just for a poor scholar like you with no connections or backing?"
"I'm going to beat you to death today and see if the prefect will embarrass me and offend my father."
After Duan Hai finished speaking, he found a broken wooden stick on the ground, picked it up, and prepared to hit Qiao Yuanhang on the head.
Gao Zhijun, who happened to see this scene, immediately shouted: "Stop!"
After Gao Zhijun finished speaking, Qinglong flew to Duan Hai's side, snatched the wooden stick, and kicked him out.
When the servants saw the young master being kicked away, they let go of Qiao Yuanhang and ran over to help the young master up.
He fell to the ground, his chest aching like fire. He was helped up by his servants. When the pain subsided, Duan Hai was furious: "Who are you? You dare to hit me, young master? I will kill you!"
"What are you standing there for? Beat them to death!"
Across from him, Qiao Yuanhang stood up and saluted Qinglong: "Thank you for saving me, sir."
"You're welcome. It's my lady who wants to save you."
Qinglong waved his hand and said.
"Who dares?"
Qinglong stepped forward and protected Gao Zhijun behind him, scolding angrily.
"Do you know who my young master is?"
A servant supported Duan Hai and said arrogantly.
"I don't know, who is your young master?"
Qinglong asked the servant.
"My young master is the eldest son of Duan Haojun, the largest grain and oil merchant in Taizhou Prefecture. Are you scared now?"
The servant raised his head arrogantly and said to Qinglong.
He wanted to see these people beg for mercy in fear after hearing about the young master's background.
After Duan Hai's pain eased, he stared viciously at the man who kicked him, waiting to see him begging for mercy in a panic, and then he would have his servants break both of his legs, making him unable to stand up for the rest of his life and having to crawl forever, to relieve the hatred in his heart.
"I don't know! Do you know who is standing in front of you?"
Isn't it just a comparison of status? A comparison of position? Who's afraid of who? His daughter is a county lady, her official rank is higher than the prefect, and the prefect has to be polite to her.
What are they? Just a businessman.
In Daliang, merchants are the lowest class.
"Who is it? Isn't it just a rich lady? Whose daughters are you? When I get back, I'll report it to my master and have him ruin your business."
The servant looked at her dress and thought she didn't look like the daughter of a wealthy merchant. She might be the daughter of some small merchant family. Compared with his family, she was simply not presentable.
"Really? Then let me see if your master has this ability?"
"Listen carefully, the person standing before you is the Princess of Xiangyun County, personally appointed by the Emperor. Is your master really more powerful than the Princess?"
Qinglong asked the servant, his face full of contempt.
As long as there is a little money at home, he will act arrogantly and look down on others. I despise this kind of playboy the most.
