The students at the county school are destined to have a bad night's sleep.
The villagers were buzzing with discussion. "Who would have thought that Widow Dong could actually act? She's always so quiet and doesn't dare to speak, how could she be so bold?"
Widow Dong lowered her head, her face slightly embarrassed.
Chen Gui scolded, "Stop talking nonsense. If it weren't for Madam Dong's performance, do you think this show would be this lively today?"
He smiled and looked at Chen Xian. He knew that Chen Xian had written storybooks. When he looked at that grand play just now, he also had an expression of not understanding but being greatly shocked.
Chen Xian's face stiffened slightly.
A couple from Chating Village walked out looking uneasy.
Clap clap clap, a burst of applause started by someone, I don't know who.
Chen Dashui chuckled and said, "Uncle, you truly deserve to be called a master of ventriloquism! Your performance of the eerie wind, the torrential rain, the sound of the zither, the barking of dogs, and even the chirping of crickets and cicadas was truly amazing!"
Su Wenxuan nodded and chuckled.
"Uncle Xian, where did you find this treasure for Qingxia Village?"
The old man's surname was Ye. He had been looking cautious, as he hadn't spoken well enough and was afraid of messing things up.
Hearing the villagers' praise, he felt a little embarrassed, grinned, and waved his hand, saying, "Not bad, haha..."
Chen Gui asked Chen Qingshan to give the old man some money for tea.
It was about thirty coins.
Old Man Ye's eyes were slightly red as he waved his hand and said, "I don't need that much. I just came to help. I don't need it..."
Chen Qingshan handed it to him.
Aunt Ye rubbed her sore eyes. It wasn't about the amount of money; it was about a sense of recognition and finding meaning and direction in life.
Su Wenxuan: "Grandpa, let's cooperate again if there's a chance in the future."
Old Man Ye nodded and said, "Alright, alright, I'll definitely perform better next time. This is my first time on stage, and there are so many people, I'm a little nervous."
Chen Xian looked at the enthusiastic teenagers and villagers.
There's a plan brewing.
No one went on the promised boat trip along the riverbank; the night was eerie, and I was afraid of encountering something unclean.
A gust of wind blew by, raising goosebumps on everyone's arms, and a chill ran down their spines.
The plan was to take the students for a walk along the riverbank, look at the stars, row a boat, and catch fireflies.
It can only be put on hold for now.
Lu Chengfeng stared quietly at the platform. He had never really felt anything from the makeshift stage troupe in the countryside, but now he was completely dumbfounded.
The eerie and terrifying atmosphere, along with the unbelievable plot development, undoubtedly gave his young mind a powerful shock.
He scoffed, "Nothing special."
Page: "Young master, why are you standing so close to me?"
"Shut up! I'm doing this to protect you! Don't you understand, you idiot!"
"Uh-huh."
"Hurry up, hurry up, this place is too damn creepy."
...
Early the next morning.
Instructor Xu got up, while the students were still fast asleep.
Looking at the rising sun outside, he scolded, "Are we just going to waste this precious time like this? Even getting up to exercise would be better!"
As he reprimanded them, many students, with dark circles under their eyes and weary expressions, responded.
"Hey, I keep feeling like someone's chasing me in my dreams, calling my name, my lord! My lord? When I open my eyes, I see a woman in white lying in front of me..."
"Is this for real?"
"Who knew that the woman's hair would come to life and tighten around my neck, making it hard for me to breathe. It was like this until the end of midnight before I finally fell asleep."
Instructor Xu frowned. What kind of grand drama could there be in the countryside?
Xia Xuezheng also got up and greeted him.
"Instructor Xu, it's a real pity you didn't go to see the opera last night. A master ventriloquist came to the village, and his imitations of eerie winds, dog barks, waterfalls, and the sound of a zither were absolutely lifelike..."
Instructor Xu was slightly taken aback. He hadn't seen this kind of performance in many years. He never imagined that such a small mountain village could invite such a master to perform.
He calmly replied, "Oh."
Seeing the students' tired and weary faces, he said in a deep voice, "We've seen the play, eaten the meal, and fished. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the countryside, so why don't we go back today?"
He imagined that many students would respond to his call, but he didn't have a good impression of the village now, as everything required money.
It's utterly vulgar.
But the students' expressions were very strange; they looked at the sky and the ground, as if something exciting was attracting them.
Time seemed to stand still.
An eerie silence.
Looking at the young man surnamed Lu, she noticed that he looked hesitant and conflicted.
It was as if he hadn't been seen at all.
Xia Xuezheng nodded and said, "Since we're already here, why not stay another day?"
The students cheered.
Instructor Xu's face was cold and hard as he turned and shoved into the house.
I really can't understand what's so good about a dilapidated village, except for the food being somewhat palatable, with muddy dirt roads, swarms of mosquitoes that seem to eat you alive, and children and adults urinating and defecating everywhere.
In the open space outside the Chen family's house, many young people were practicing boxing with Su Wenhao.
The sounds of "hehe" and "haha" rose and fell.
Smoke curls from the chimneys.
Women began to spread out wheat, children rode on the backs of oxen to herd them, a boy used a long bamboo pole to poke at the bark of poplar trees, and another child threw a basket into it, supposedly a kind of Chinese medicine that would be bought by pharmacies.
In the distance, it seemed that someone was building houses in the village. Looking up, I saw that they were large houses with blue bricks and tiles, as well as spacious pigsties and chicken coops.
