Chapter 32 Dad, you're so stingy.

The old man selling sesame cakes laughed and scolded, "Aren't you going to thank him? What are you standing there for?"

The man beckoned his wife and children over and whispered something to them.

The child is a robust-looking boy, about five or six years old.

"Thank you, sir."

The man chuckled sheepishly, "Thanks, brother."

Anyway, the way they address each other is all over the place.

The man was called "Old Man Pancake," or "Uncle."

The old man making sesame seed cakes called himself "brother".

The man called out to Chen Xian again, "Brother Chen."

Let it be; everyone has their own opinion anyway.

The Chen family finished their work efficiently.

Chen Xian then remembered something and laughed, "It's the red fruit I bought from that woman yesterday. Fry it in oil, it's quite good."

Only then did everyone begin to regret it.

"Oh dear, the manager of Taoranju said that this fruit was not good for cooking because it was too spicy. Now it seems that not everyone's taste is the same. Some people like mild flavors, while others like spicy ones."

"Now it seems that three copper coins a pound is really not expensive."

"I should have bought them all."

Some people joked, "Do you even know how to make it? Do you know you have to fry it in oil first? And you have to add crushed peanuts to make it even more fragrant?"

The man was speechless.

“I’ve seen these things in the mountains before. When I get back, I’ll go up the mountain and pick some.”

Some people then realized what they had missed yesterday.

I was laughing at someone yesterday.

How foolish.

Thinking they were smarter than others, it now seems that the Chen family didn't even offer an explanation back then.

I didn't take it to heart at all.

It was truly serene.

Some vendors selling flatbreads are also wondering if putting chili oil on the flatbread, or even sandwiching it between steamed buns, would create a unique flavor.

Chen Xian went directly to the Rainforest Study to deliver the manuscript.

On the road.

The sun was shining brightly, and the leaves of the elm and willow trees on the street drooped under the heat.

Su Liniang and Su Shuangshuang's hair grows extremely fast. Their hair was cut short by a heartless merchant, but it has now grown back to almost flat.

I passed by a clothing store.

Chen Xian pointed to two square caps meant for teenagers, "Shopkeeper, how much?"

The shopkeeper looked at the man dressed as a peasant and asked in confusion, "Brother, you want to buy one? Twenty coins a day."

Chen Xian: "Fifteen coins is fine, or I'll go look elsewhere?"

Su Liniang quickly stopped her.

"I have some new cloth at home, so I can just wrap my head up with it. I don't need to buy a special hat."

Chen Xian chuckled and glanced at the shopkeeper.

"The shopkeeper?"

The shopkeeper looked at the young woman, then at Chen Xian, unsure of their relationship, and smiled gently.

"Well then, if you really want it, brother, give me thirty-two coins. Any less is really not an option."

Chen Xian readily took out his money and put two dark gray hats on their heads.

Su Liniang remained calm, her lips slightly pursed.

"Thank you, sir."

Su Shuangshuang seemed to be wearing a hat for the first time and was very happy.

Erzhuzi looked at Chen Xian with anticipation.

Chen Xian: "Only those incredibly weak young men need hats to shield them from the scorching sun. We tough guys don't need those fancy things."

Erzhuzi didn't bother to hide it and whispered, "Dad, you're really stingy."

Chen Xian said awkwardly in a low voice, "You forgot, your aunt traded her hair for pork for you. People should be grateful."

The shopkeeper looked at this strange combination with a puzzled expression.

Good heavens, those two young women look like the man's wives, but they don't seem like it, they're so young. As for the boy, he seems to be his son.

The waiter smiled and explained to his sister, "She was probably a wife forcibly assigned by the government. Maybe he was lucky and got a pretty wife."

The shopkeeper looked at me with a "you're not lying to me" expression.

"Are the quality of wedding processions this high nowadays?"

The man scratched his head. "Maybe the woman was a widow, or something else entirely. Anyway, this kind of thing happens a lot in our village. But most men choose strong women because they're good at tending the crops. I don't know what that man was thinking."

The Chen family strolled around with ease, laughing and chatting, and before they knew it, they had walked quite a distance.

The shopkeeper looked at the group of people with relaxed postures and envied the man's easy and comfortable family relationship. He listened to the young man's interaction with his father, which seemed as normal as ever.

An indescribable joy welled up inside me.

very nice.
