When Luo Xi saw Wei Qing lying on the bed, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Although I was bitten several times, I was fortunate that I wasn't disfigured or disabled.
She remembered reading in the news that rats could bite through a person's meridians or bite off their nose and ears.
"My benefactor sister, is Daddy alright?" Wei Zhou tugged at Luo Xi's sleeve, tilting his little head up and asking pitifully.
Although the little guy cried until he looked like a cat, his body was quite clean and there were no wounds, so it seems that the Wei family protected him very well.
Luo Xi patted his head: "It's nothing, just a minor injury, it'll be fine in a couple of days."
Wei Zhou then smiled, tiptoed, and sweetly took Wei Qing's hand: "Daddy, my benefactor sister said you'll be better in a couple of days, hehe!"
"Of course." Wei Qing leaned against the headboard and affectionately patted his head: "Father is such a big man, and the mouse is so small. It will only bite a few times, it's fine."
He nudged the child: "Zhouzhou, be good, go to sleep with Uncle Weigang. Daddy and our benefactor sister have something to discuss."
After the child left, Luo Xi took out some spiritual spring water and handed it over, saying, "Just in case."
Wei Qing took it and drank it down without saying a word: "Boss, is something wrong?"
Rosie's complexion wasn't very good, and she took out some antibiotics she had collected before from the first aid kit: "Take this too."
After Wei Qing ate it, Luo Xi explained, "I always felt there was something wrong with this rat. I was afraid it might cause the plague."
"Plague?" Aunt Wei gasped, covering her mouth in shock. "Boss, are you sure?"
She had it when she was a young girl. Many people in the neighborhood had it at the time, but very few survived. She was one of them.
More often than not, however, they died tragically.
Aunt Wei looked at her son with red eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks. Why did her son suffer so much?
"Mother, don't worry, it's not certain that you'll get it." Wei Qing patted her shoulder and comforted her in a low voice.
"We'll know once Nan Wushang comes over." Luo Xi looked towards the door: "Why is this guy so slow? He should have arrived long ago."
"What's the rush? What's the rush?" Speak of the devil and he appears. Nan Wushang walked into the house in a bad mood.
However, he was followed not only by Jiu Xian, but also by Yue Zheng Fei Yuan.
Surprisingly, Yue Zhengfei also had several rows of familiar teeth marks on his neck.
Luo Xi was taken aback: "Your general's mansion has also been affected?"
This isn't right, this is very wrong!
“Yes.” Le Zhengfei nodded: “We were having dinner when suddenly a lot of rats appeared in the house and went crazy, biting anyone they saw.”
"Many people in the manor have been infected."
Fortunately, the grandmother and her nephews and nieces were well protected and were not bitten, otherwise, the elderly and the young would have been bitten.
"Did you notice something?" Luo Xi turned to look at Nan Wushang.
"Clever." Nan Wushang lazily found a seat and sat down, glancing at Jiuxian and clicking his tongue, "Didn't you Red Mansions say there was no news in the world you didn't know?"
"What? Don't you know that in the north today, apart from Nanyue County, many people have died due to drought?"
"With more dead people, there are more corpses; with more corpses, there are naturally more rats. I've heard that many places are experiencing plague outbreaks, and your place..."
He pointed at Yue Zhengfei, Wei Qing, and several others who had been bitten by rats, and smiled meaningfully.
Loxi kicked him: "Get to the point."
"Alright, alright!" Nan Wushang suddenly lost interest: "Rats don't usually gather together to attack people, but if someone uses drugs to induce them, then it's hard to say."
He reached into his sleeve and pulled out a small packet of paper, which he then opened: "I found this in the General's Mansion."
"Tsk, I wonder who has such a deep grudge against the Lezheng family. There are plenty of this kind of medicine all over the mansion. It's no wonder the rats run there."
Loxi reached out and took it. It was a yellowish-brown powder, very similar to soil, but with a strange smell.
"So, someone wants to harm us." She narrowed her eyes. "Who?"
Luo Xi's first thought was Du Hong. Sure enough, Le Zheng Feiyuan said with a stern face, "The person who drugged us has been caught. After interrogation, it was revealed that it was that scoundrel Du Hong who ordered it."
Loxi: "..."
She laughed in exasperation: "Very well!"
"It seems that some people are indeed tired of living."
Loxi turned and left, then came back and threw out an iron box: "If you see any more rats, don't kill them, catch them all and put them in here."
Her eyes were icy: "Doesn't Du Hong like playing with mice? We happen to have so many here, so I'll do him a favor and send him a few more."
"Let him have his fun!"
Everyone stared at the box, which was much taller than a person, and shivered in unison.
If this were filled to the brim and thrown into someone's house...
I can't even imagine it! I really can't imagine it!
Le Zheng Feiyuan, however, looked delighted, though with a hint of sadness: "Boss, leave this task to me."
He wanted to personally kill Du Hong to avenge the Le Zheng family and the fallen Red Soul Army.
Rose shook her head: "You've been bitten too, and you never know when the symptoms might appear. It's better to stay home."
Her gaze swept over everyone, finally landing on Jiuxian: "You're coming with me. This time, we absolutely cannot let Du Hong live again."
What else is there to say when there's a nine-stringed zither?
"Hurry up," he said, referring to catching the mouse.
Everyone was amused by him. Le Zheng Feiyuan wanted to say something more, but when he thought of the elderly, weak, women and children in Le Zheng's house, he had to swallow his words.
He wasn't afraid of death, but what would happen to his grandmother and the others without him?
"Boss, Ninth Master, bring more people with you. I heard that Du Hong has hired a lot of experts to follow him. Getting close to him won't be an easy task."
Otherwise, such a despicable person would have died countless times already.
Jiuxian's eyes brightened by two degrees.
Luo Xi nodded to Yue Zhengfeiyuan, then ordered the soldiers to search everywhere. Sure enough, they found the powder in various parts of the Wei residence.
The bookstore was no exception; it was attracted by the powder and many rats were bitten. The craftsmen were bitten in many ways, and the books inside were in even worse condition, all reduced to shreds.
Rong Bai, who rushed over after receiving the news, saw this scene and his heart ached: "Damn Du Hong, why doesn't he just die?"
Although Chu Zhe's improvements reduced the cost considerably, the sheer volume was still a problem.
"Boss, you absolutely mustn't let Du Hong die too easily," he said through gritted teeth.
"Don't worry." Luo Xi knew what to do without Rong Bai saying anything.
But after they had caught most of the rats, Luo Xi couldn't get away because Liu Xiaoyu, Wei Qing, and the others started to develop high fevers one after another.
Inside the room, Liu Xiaoyu's delicate face was flushed red, and she seemed a little dazed.
"Don't worry, my lady. I just caught a chill last night. It's not the plague," she said, her eyes still blurry.
“I know,” Rose comforted her.
But she knew that it had absolutely nothing to do with catching a cold.
It seems that neither my spiritual spring water nor antibiotics worked. How could that be?
