Chapter 22 - How come it's you?

Luo Xi didn't care what others thought or what they said; her own space was gradually becoming full.

However, the water is almost gone.

"Looks like the next step is to find a water source." She muttered to herself, "I'll have to pack more next time, just in case."

That's the downside of ancient times. There were no maps or navigation systems, so finding anything was inconvenient. You had to ask people, and sometimes even then, the answer wasn't right.

Look, that old lady clearly said there was a spring here, but she has been walking for two hours and there is only withered grass and dry trees all over the mountain. She can't see any green at all. Where is the spring?

Luo Xi looked up at the sun in the sky. It was only ten o'clock, but it was already like a small furnace, making people dizzy and lightheaded.

Feeling dizzy, Luo Xi stopped walking and found a shady spot to sit down. She circulated her superpower throughout her body, and the dizziness subsided a bit.

"Search for another two hours. If we still can't find it, we'll think of another way."

Otherwise, she probably wouldn't have found the spring and would have been dried up by the midday sun.

Fortunately, she wasn't bad with directions; otherwise, after wandering in this desolate wilderness for so long, she probably wouldn't have been able to find her way back.

"Shuashua——"

Suddenly, a sound came from the bushes nearby.

Luo Xi felt a chill run down her spine, stopped in her tracks, and looked toward the source of the sound.

Several emaciated gray wolves leaped out, barking and howling at Luo Xi: "Awooo, awooo—"

Rosie: "..."

They're treating her like prey.

Sure enough, four wolves, one on each side, instantly surrounded Roxi.

Their eyes gleamed green, their fangs dripped with saliva, and their sharp claws pawed incessantly at the ground, poised to attack at any moment.

“Come on, I’ve never eaten wolf meat before.” Loxi raised her hand.

The strongest one had a hint of disdain and... disgust flash across its eyes.

Rosie: "..."

Is it because they think she's too thin?

"I haven't even told you that you don't have two ounces of meat yet."

This was intolerable, so Luo Xi unleashed a burst of supernatural power.

The wolf leaped and dodged it.

"Awoo, awoo..."

It's unclear whether he's showing off or issuing an order.

The other three wolves also howled, their green eyes growing even brighter. In the blink of an eye, all the wolves leaped up and pounced on Luo Xi.

Their sharp teeth were clearly visible; a bite from one of them could easily take away a large chunk of flesh. Loxi could even smell the bad breath emanating from their mouths.

"Well done!" This time, Luo Xi didn't hold back. Her superpower spread outwards from her center, precisely slashing at the necks of each wolf.

"Sizzle, sizzle—" a few times later.

The wolf's foul-smelling mouth stopped half a meter away from Rose, then fell to the ground with a "thud," dead.

"I wonder if wolf meat tastes good?" Luo Xi walked over and kicked the wolf carcass, smiling as she prepared to put it into her spatial storage.

“Sasha…”

Just then, another noise came from behind the dead tree.

"Heh, another freeloader." Without thinking, Luo Xi unleashed a superpower.

The next second, the contents inside were revealed in their entirety...

"How come it's you???"

Loxi was startled and quickly unleashed another power to disperse the power that had already hit the child's face.

"My benefactor sister~" The child's originally panicked eyes were replaced by surprise the moment he saw Luo Xi.

Her little face, covered in scratches and dirt, beamed with a sweet smile, completely unaware that she had just narrowly escaped death.

"Zhouzhou missed you so much." He ran over, ignoring the blood all over the ground, and affectionately hugged Luo Xi's leg.

It turns out to be Wei Zhou, the child that Luo Xi met when she first fell here.

At this moment, he was covered in dirt, with bruises and small wounds on his face and hands, and his hair was a mess, all tangled up.

Luckily, Rose has good eyesight and an even better memory, otherwise she really wouldn't have recognized him.

"What are you doing here? Where are your grandma and the others?" Rose picked him up and asked.

Wei Zhou pouted, her eyes welling up with tears, and just as she was about to speak, several more cursing voices came from the other side.

"You little brat, come out here, or when I find you, I'll chop off your legs, roast them, and eat them with my wine. Let's see how you run then."

The little child trembled with fear, desperately burying his head in the crook of Luo Xi's neck, and cried out in a small voice, "Benefactor sister, benefactor sister!"

It seemed that shouting like that could dispel the fear in his heart.

"Don't be afraid." Luo Xi gently patted his back, her eyes shooting sharply in that direction.

The two men, who had just emerged from the withered bushes, were stunned for a moment when they met Luo Xi's icy gaze.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

Luo Xi tightened her grip on the child in her arms: "Shouldn't I be asking you that?"

"What did you just say you were going to do to my child?"

"You say this is your child?" The taller man scoffed, "Bullshit, this is my son."

"Your son?" Luo Xi looked the man up and down with a mocking gaze: "You, with a round face, squinty eyes, a flat nose, and sausage lips."

"How could you give birth to such a beautiful child? Or did your wife find another father for your son, and you ended up with a son you didn't have?"

"You..." The tall man's face turned green.

"Second brother, why waste words with her? She's just a woman." The short man licked his lips. "Let's just take her back. Perfect, we don't have enough meat to eat."
