Chapter 35: Getting sold out and still paying back money? Is he an idiot?

Wei Qing was greatly surprised: "My benefactor—"

Loxi raised her hand to interrupt him: "I have my own plans."

The proprietress: "...??"

Is her hearing damaged? Did she sell you out and then pay you back?

Is he an idiot?

Who cares? Let's just get by and take the money first.

The proprietress clapped her hands and readily said, "Alright, I'll take care of it. Just wait for the good news."

When they returned to their room, Qinglong had already thoroughly investigated the entire Immortal Abode.

"This Erlang Shen appeared out of nowhere at the end of last year. His surname is Yang, and he is the second child in his family. He claims to be Erlang Shen descended from heaven, specifically to deal with this famine."

"It is said that as long as you become his believer, you can not only survive natural disasters, but also become very rich and live a long life."

"It sounds nice, but it's just a gimmick to win people over. I don't know what shady things they're up to."

"However, quite a few people do believe in him. Now, nearly two thousand people have gathered on the mountain, and they are all willing to plunder their family's wealth to go and seek refuge with him."

Wei Qing's eyebrows furrowed into a knot.

The famine has only just begun, and the world is already in such chaos. People's lives are already difficult. If they believe this Yang Erlang and are swindled out of their money, how will they survive in the future?

It seems that we can't count on Rong Bai as the county magistrate.

"My benefactor, do you have any plans?" He looked at Rosie expectantly.

If our benefactor is willing to step in, this matter can probably be resolved; at the very least, the people won't be deceived.

"Sir, you're not trying to meddle again, are you?" Wei Gang asked, his eyes wide.

"This is no trivial matter," Wei Qing said sternly. "As the local official, the people's affairs are my affairs. Shouldn't I be concerned?"

"What a strange idea," Luo Xi sighed, rubbing her forehead. "Minister Wei, this land doesn't belong to the Wei family, and you're just a county magistrate."

So please don't get so carried away, okay?

Luo Xi just wanted to secretly pack up the supplies and leave; she couldn't care less about that damn Erlang Shen thing.

Wei Qing's expression changed: "My benefactor, what nonsense are you talking about? My loyalty to His Majesty is as clear as day and night, and I have absolutely no disloyal intentions. You must not say such things again."

This was the first time Wei Qing had spoken to Luo Xi in such a tone.

“This time, let’s pretend you didn’t say anything, and I didn’t hear anything either, and the same goes for you.” He swept his face across the others.

"Yes, sir." The other members of the Wei family exchanged glances and quickly nodded.

Jiuxian didn't even glance at him, and instead ate the snacks Luo Xi had given him with great relish.

Wei Qing forced a smile and looked at him: "Ninth Master, you're the same."

Jiuxian didn't even look up: "Yesterday, the Red Mansion just received a job, 500,000 taels of gold, to assassinate the young prince. I accepted it."

Wei Qing: "...!!!!!"

"How could you do this? The Crown Prince is the future emperor and the hope of the Tianqi Dynasty."

“How can we, as citizens of Apocalypse, do such disloyal and unjust things?”

His eyes were bloodshot with anger, and his body was trembling slightly.

Nine Strings said calmly, "If I remember correctly, more than two hundred years ago, this was the Northern Li Dynasty. Who knows if tomorrow will still be Tianqi?"

Loxi stared at him in astonishment. This guy was really interesting; he actually spoke the truth.

"Come on, Jiu Xiaoxian, I'll toast you for your courage."

She took out a bottle of liquor she had collected during the apocalypse, poured a glass for herself and Jiuxian, and then took out a lot of snacks to go with the drinks.

“My benefactor, how could you also…” Wei Qing stared at her in disbelief.

Luo Xi downed the drink in her glass in one gulp: "Wei Qing, we've only known each other for a few days, do you really understand me?"

So don't assume she's a good person. No one who can survive for so many years in the apocalypse is a good person, because good people... are either dead or have changed.

"I won't get involved in this. We've known each other for a while, and I advise you not to get involved either."

Wei Qing stared at her blankly, his eyes filled with unfamiliarity and complexity.

After a while, he turned to Jiuxian and said, "Ninth Master, aren't you afraid of being overheard when you say it so openly?"

"Or are you not afraid I'll report you?"

Jiuxian picked up his wine cup, smelling and looking around, but refusing to look at Wei Qing: "Do you think I, the master of the Red Chamber, am here for amusement? Without my permission, no living thing is allowed to approach this place?"

“As for reporting me, you can try.” His eyes were cold and unfathomable.

Wei Qing: "..."

"My benefactors, please continue eating. I... I won't keep you company."

He looked dazed and staggered away into the distance.

Luo Xi glanced at it only once before looking away.

There are always some people who won't turn back until they hit a wall, and there are always some pitfalls that you won't know how to avoid until you step into them yourself.

Aunt Wei sighed softly, "My benefactor, Ninth Master, I'm sorry, Wei Qing just couldn't figure it out for a moment."

In fact, she didn't agree with Wei Qing's approach either. They had no money or power, and Wei Qing's actions were like a moth drawn to a flame.

As a mother, she will always support her child.

Loxi shook her head, indicating that she didn't care.

Aunt Wei gave a forced smile and stood up: "You all eat, my benefactor. I'll go check on him."

Luo Xi nodded and looked at Jiu Xian: "Are you going to drink it or not? If not, give it to me."

I've been smelling and looking at it for ages, but I haven't put it in my mouth.

Jiuxian dodged Luo Xi's outstretched hand, took a sip, and her eyes flickered slightly: "Where did you buy it? It's very special."

"Selling?" he asked.

Rosie chuckled: "Is there anything here that you don't want to buy?"
