Chapter 6 Was my older brother really killed by a woman?

Wei Zhou swallowed hard as he looked at the bright red fruit.

They had been traveling since early morning, and then they encountered bandits; their stomachs were already growling with hunger.

But he quickly covered his mouth and said in a muffled voice, "Thank you, sister. Zhouzhou is not hungry or thirsty."

Grandma said I shouldn't take other people's things without permission.

Loxi found it amusing and gave his chubby cheeks a good pinch.

Her eyes were practically glued to the strawberries, yet she said she wasn't hungry or thirsty.

She took out another piece of pastry and handed it to him: "Here, eat this. You just shielded me from the sun, so this is a thank you gift."

Wei Zhou swallowed again, but first looked at his grandmother by the stove who was helping to cook noodles. Seeing her nod, he began to eat in small bites.

Aunt Wei was very pleased to see this.

"My benefactor, your noodles are ready. I just cooked them casually, I don't know if they'll suit your taste?"

Seeing that her benefactor was sitting motionless and the fire in the stove had gone out, she came over to help.

"Thank you!" Rose said sincerely.

Otherwise, her place would probably still be deserted by now.

Luo Xi quickly finished her noodles, packed her things, and prepared to leave.

Before leaving, she reminded Aunt Wei, "You should also leave quickly, don't linger too long in this troublesome place."

After saying that, he leaped and floated in the direction where Chu Zhe had fallen.

"Hiss, Sanlang, isn't that the direction of the bandits' den?" Aunt Wei gasped.

Wei Qing's heart skipped a beat: "That's right, we just forgot to tell our benefactor."

Most importantly, they didn't know which way Rose was going.

Zhouzhou's face turned pale: "Daddy, then, then, will the benefactor sister be eaten by bad people?"

Wei Qing picked up her son and patted him reassuringly: "It shouldn't be. She's very capable, isn't she? Zhouzhou just saw it."

Although he said that, he was still a little worried. He had heard that there were two other leaders in the mountain stronghold who were not good people either.

But now that person is gone, and he has his own mission, he can only hope that his benefactor and good man will have good luck.

Meanwhile, Rosie, who had drifted away, arrived at the bandit's den they had mentioned.

"Nine-Bend Village? That's a nice name."

Loxi hid behind a tree, carefully examining the simple gate behind a wide crack in the ground.

It's called a village gate, but it's really just a frame made of a few logs haphazardly put together, and the characters on the plaque above the gate are almost completely faded.

If there's anywhere else to see, it's the suspension bridge in front of the village gate. Right now, it's been raised high, but there's no one there. It seems the people of Jiuqu Village are very confident about this fissure in the ground.

Confidence is good; it saves her a lot of trouble.

After understanding what was happening, Luo Xi swaggered out and didn't stop until she reached the crack in the ground. With a light touch of her toes, she floated to the other side like a feather, landing without making a sound.

The spiritual spring water is indeed a good thing; my supernatural abilities are much purer than before.

Once there, Rosie looked around, but couldn't find a single person.

"Strange, could it be that some spies just slipped through the net and notified them, so they ran away before I called?"

Is it really necessary?

It wasn't until it was completely dark that Rosie spotted a watchtower near the summit.

A simple watchtower stood on the hillside, dark and unlit, making it impossible to see anything clearly.

But Luo Xi, with her exceptionally sharp eyesight, could vaguely see that there were two people sitting inside.

She floated down to the watchtower like a ghost, then clung to the floor like a gecko.

A man's indignant voice immediately came from the watchtower: "The Third Master is really too much. He went off to have fun, but he made us two guard this place. It's dark and cold, what's the point?"

"Thousand-Mile Eye, stop complaining, you son of a bitch." The speaker was a tall, burly man whose face was even darker than Thousand-Mile Eye's.

"Everyone knows that you have the best eyesight in the whole stronghold. That's why the third leader chose you to be a lookout, to prevent those with ulterior motives from taking advantage of the situation when he argues with the second leader. Others would love to do it but can't."

"Besides, didn't the third leader say that once he becomes the top leader, you can pick any two women you want to play with?" The big guy was extremely jealous. In the past, the women he captured wouldn't let anyone touch them in order to sell them for a better price.

Now that the chief is dead, the other two chiefs only agreed to distribute the spoils to their subordinates in order to win people's hearts, but he only gets one, which is unfair.

That's the truth. Thousand-Mile Eyes straightened his back proudly: "I have to thank my mother for giving me such good eyesight."

"Don't be upset." He patted the big man on the shoulder. "Having one is not bad. At least you have someone to serve you. It's better than when your older brother was still alive and you had none at all."

The big man sighed: "That's the only way to think about it. You know, our leader was really killed by a woman, along with dozens of brothers who went out with him."

He found it so unbelievable. He even said he only used one move. Wasn't that a joke?

Their leader was notoriously fierce in the county; even the officials in the county government didn't dare to provoke him.

A woman? Pshaw, who would believe that?

"That's what the messenger said." Thousand-Mile Eye stroked his chin and analyzed, "I'm not sure either, but I heard that Zhang San was so scared that he went crazy. He's completely insane now. Maybe it's true?"

"Him?" The big man scoffed. "A snake could scare him half to death. He'll go crazy sooner or later. There's no need to drag a woman into this."

"Moreover, if it were true, the two leaders would have already instructed us to prepare for defense, instead of having the mind to fight for the position of the leader now."

Therefore, he thought it was impossible and that the messenger must have exaggerated the facts.

Even the all-seeing eye was confused now.

The big man slammed his fist on the table with a "bang": "If you ask me, we should go down the mountain to take a look. Instead of going to look, we just listened to what the messenger said and hid in the mountain stronghold. If the other outlaws find out, how will we save face?"

"Who told you we were hiding?" Thousand-Mile Eyes stared at him speechlessly.

He really is a brainless idiot; he can't even see something this obvious. Let him explain it to this big oaf.

"The chief is gone, but there are still a second and third chief in the stronghold. Whoever gains the upper hand now is likely to become the next chief. Who has the time to look at that woman? We still need to prioritize these matters."

That's true. The big man shut his mouth in frustration, but after a while, he said again, unwilling to give up, "Do you think that if this is true, the woman might come to us herself?"

Thousand-Mile Eyes was stunned: "No, no way, don't scare me."

If that's true, his mediocre skills wouldn't even be enough to fill someone's teeth.

No, he has to go and take a look.
