The entire forest fell into an eerie silence. No one could react to what had happened. The masked men in black who had almost killed them were suddenly all dead.
Jingjing, Xiaoxiaotangguo, and the other two relaxed completely, finally unable to hold on any longer and sitting down on the ground. It was too dangerous; they almost thought they were going to die here tonight. It was such a sudden and unexpected turn of events.
Zhou Erfu lit a torch and came over to check the situation. He took the knife from Zhou Dafu's hand and cautiously approached the fallen men in black. If he found any survivors, he would immediately kill them with a single blow.
"Their heads were all smashed open, they're all dead." Zhou Erfu was shocked, but also secretly relieved.
Once it was confirmed that there was no immediate danger, Zhou Sanfu came over to check. He squatted down and pointed to the black stones next to him, saying, "It seems that these people were killed by these black stones. Stones falling from the sky, could it really be that God is helping us?"
"Stop looking! Let's leave this place quickly and report to the authorities in the prefectural city so they can come and investigate." Zhao Guihua was still shaken and wanted to leave this dangerous place as soon as possible.
“Jingjing and Xiaoxiaotangguo are both injured. Let them ride in the carriage. How badly are you injured, sir? You should also ride in the carriage and rest. Let Dafu and the others drive.” Zhao Guihua helped the three girls into the carriage and then went to check on Zhou Laoda’s injuries.
"It's alright, I just twisted my arm. It's not serious, I can still catch the train, don't worry about me." Boss Zhou wasn't injured by the knife, he just twisted his arm when he rolled over.
Zhou Erfu nimbly swung his arms. "I'm fine, just a sprained ankle. It's nothing serious, I can catch the train."
"Mother, I'm fine." Zhou Sifu was a little frightened, but he wasn't injured.
Zhou Dafu, Zhou Sanfu, and Zhou Wufu only suffered minor injuries, and Zhao Guihua finally felt relieved. She got into the carriage to treat the wounds of the three girls.
"Let me give you a quick first bandage, and we'll go to the clinic once we get to the prefectural city." Zhao Guihua took out some hemostatic powder and applied it to the three wounds before bandaging them with cloth strips.
It's pitch black and we need to keep moving, so this is the best we can do for now.
"Mother, don't be afraid, it's alright now, all the bad guys are dead." At least all the assassins who came to kill them are dead. Perhaps the other side investigated their background and thought that none of them knew kung fu, so they sent eight experts who were sure to wipe them out.
However, no matter how much they planned, they didn't expect that a rock would suddenly fall from the sky and kill all the assassins. There was only one group of assassins tonight, and no second group was arranged, so the Zhou family is safe for the time being.
When the Zhou family's carriage arrived at the gate of Nanyang Prefecture, it was already dawn. The city gate had been open for a while, and the group entered the city smoothly.
They then went straight to the house that the Zhou family had previously bought, where Li Qian and his wife lived. When they heard the knock on the door, Li Qian was cooking in the kitchen.
Upon opening the door and seeing Zhou Laoda and his group, they were genuinely surprised. "Brother-in-law, when did you arrive in the prefectural city? Why didn't you send a message beforehand? Were you traveling all night?"
"Let's go inside and talk. Someone here is injured. Brother-in-law, go and cook some food for us. We're starving." Having not slept all night and living in fear, Old Zhou was in low spirits and spoke in a muffled voice.
"Okay, I just started the fire and put in some rice to cook porridge," Li Qian said as he welcomed the person in, closed the courtyard gate, turned around and went to the kitchen, where he filled a pot with extra rice to cook porridge.
After thinking for a moment, he stopped what he was doing and walked out of the kitchen.
"You guys rest first, I'll go to the market to buy some meat." There's a morning market in the prefectural city, mostly selling vegetables. Li Qian has been in the prefectural city for over a month and is very familiar with the area.
Before long, Li Qian returned with five catties of pork, a chicken, and ten eggs. He and Zhong Daya usually couldn't eat that much, but he knew that his brother-in-law's sons had particularly good appetites and could eat a lot of meat every day, so he bought extra.
"My candy, this is my candy!" Candy cried out. She was injured, with bandages on her arms and back, and this aunt was still bullying her, trying to steal her candy. She would grab one and immediately stuff it into her mouth, and now she wanted to take the last one from her hand.
"Eat candy, Daya wants candy. You're being naughty, Daya doesn't like you." Zhong Daya pouted, her hair disheveled, glaring at the candy with a resentful expression.
Candy pouted, on the verge of tears, "The stars were given to Candy, you're mean, Candy doesn't like you, I won't play with you, go away."
"Ouch, ouch, ouch! Waaaaah, my candy! Daddy, Daddy, Daddy's been bullied! Someone hit Daddy! Waaaaah!" Zhong Daya was shoved hard by Candy and fell heavily to the ground. Her face contorted for a moment before she cried and rolled around on the ground.
"Oh dear, cousin, get up quickly! I have some candy here, you can have it all, okay?" Zhao Guihua, exasperated, hurriedly went to help the person on the ground.
"I don't want to get up! She hit me! Hit her back for me! Waaah!" Zhong Daya kept making a scene.
Li Qian was cutting meat when he heard his wife crying and making a fuss. He immediately put down the knife and ran over. He helped Zhong Daya up and said in a stern tone, "Didn't I tell you not to sit on the ground? The ground is dirty. Look, your clothes are covered in mud. Talk things out properly. Don't throw a tantrum like a child."
"Dad, she pushed me, she pushed me really hard, it hurts, it hurts so much here." Zhong Daya seemed to have found a backer, and complained to Li Qian with tears in her eyes, pointing to her back and buttocks.
"You stole someone's candy again, didn't you? You were the one who did something wrong first, no wonder they hit you..." Li Qian scolded his wife sternly while coaxing her and helping her back to the room.
He didn't know how he coaxed her, but Zhong Daya stopped making a fuss and obediently waited in the room without coming out again. Li Qian quickly returned to the main hall and apologized to Zhou Laoda and Zhao Guihua.
