Old Zhou ignored Zhao Guihua and stared at Zhou the Elder. "Eldest son, I asked you to bring some eels over. Are you deaf?"
Seeing that Old Man Zhou was about to use filial piety to pressure her husband again, Zhao Guihua was furious. She stomped into the kitchen and came out carrying a bamboo tube that was half her height.
"There are two jin of eels in here. Take them and leave now." Zhao Guihua shoved the bamboo tube into Old Man Zhou's hand and pointed to the courtyard gate, blatantly shooing people away.
"Eldest son, what kind of attitude is your wife showing? I'm her father-in-law! How can she be such a bad daughter-in-law? If you don't do something about her, she'll think she's above everyone else!" Old Zhou said, stamping his feet in anger as he carried the bamboo tube.
"Alright, hurry back and cook the eel. I haven't had lunch yet, I'm starving. It's so annoying that you keep making a fuss in the middle of the day." Zhou Laoda muttered before going into the house.
Old Zhou glared at his eldest son's retreating figure, took a few deep breaths, wanted to lash out but no one paid him any attention, so he had no choice but to stop making a fool of himself and turned away angrily.
"Mom, quickly close the door and come eat," Xingxing called out to her in a clear voice.
Hearing her daughter call her "Mother" repeatedly, Zhao Guihua's pent-up anger dissipated almost instantly. She closed and bolted the courtyard gate and went to eat.
"Dad, Mom, eat quickly. Xingxing caught a lot of eel meat for you. If you eat your fill, you won't be angry. Don't get sick over those ungrateful people. It's not worth it." Xingxing is at the age where she is most good at mimicking what others say. She immediately learns and uses whatever the adults say.
"Pfft, you child, why do you always imitate other people's speech? You little kid like to act like a little adult." Zhao Guihua tapped her nose and laughed uncontrollably.
“Xingxing is already five years old. Five years old is a big kid.” Xingxing emphasized solemnly.
