"Could this be the reason why Hong Niangzi later developed a liking for eating children? But how could she do such a thing? She understands the pain of losing a child better than anyone. Why would she turn herself into someone like Zhang Hansheng?" Zhu Xichen closed his eyes, his face filled with unbearable pain, but the cries and screams all around him were incessant.
Then they watched as Zhang Hansheng took Madam Ying back to the mountain stronghold and continued to humiliate her day and night. At first, Madam Ying was numb like a walking corpse, and she did not react to anything anyone did to her.
A month later, she began to pander to the bandits who disgusted her, and slowly gained the opportunity to move freely within the mountain stronghold.
She would pick any herbs she saw in the mountains and then find an opportunity to put them into the bandits' food. However, she didn't know the effects of those herbs, so she didn't poison the bandits at first.
Several months later, she finally discovered a deadly poisonous herb that could kill several pigs with just a little bit. That day, she poisoned the three pigs that the bandits had stolen but hadn't killed in time. She watched as the three fat pigs died in the blink of an eye.
She immediately smeared the deadly poison on every well, stream, and dish in the mountain village. The poison was potent yet colorless and odorless, so no one could detect it.
Madam Ying prepared a lot of poison and infiltrated the entire mountain stronghold. No one could escape; they would all die. The people in the stronghold would have to pay for her family and children's lives.
But Zhang Hansheng was too cunning. He actually managed to escape and even chased after Madam Ying with a knife. Only Zhang Hansheng survived in the entire stronghold, and Madam Ying was no longer the timid and weak woman who could only be bullied by others.
She wandered around the mountains every day, which honed her leg strength. She was very fast when she ran away. Zhang Hansheng chased her for three days and three nights before catching up with her. They chased each other all the way to a riverbank.
Madam Ying showed no fear. She had long wished she were dead, and now death would be a relief. She looked at Zhang Hansheng approaching and a strange smile appeared on her lips. She said in a soft voice, "Everyone has to die today, and you will die too. We will all die together."
Zhang Hansheng paused, hesitating whether to kill the poisonous woman with a single blow. But in that instant of hesitation, Madam Ying had already spilled a large amount of medicinal juice. Caught off guard, Zhang Hansheng was immediately poisoned and died shortly afterward.
"Good riddance, good riddance!" Madam Ying stepped forward, picked up a knife, and hacked wildly at Zhang Hansheng's corpse until it was mangled beyond recognition.
However, she herself was also poisoned. Her lips were now blackish-purple, and she was about to die. Unwilling to die with Zhang Han, she jumped into the river with all her might.
Zhu Qiuyu and the others watched as Madam Ying's body drifted downstream with the rushing river for a day and a night, until it was finally picked up by an old man in a remote corner and taken home.
"This old man looks to be at least sixty years old, but he walks steadily, has a ruddy complexion, and can carry an adult while moving with great speed. He must be a skilled martial artist," Zhu Qiuyu commented.
Zhu Chumo watched with some surprise as the old man took off Young Madam Ying's wet clothes and changed her into a bright red wedding dress. This old man was quite capable; he had actually cured Young Madam Ying's poison and saved her life.
He also served Young Madam Ying good food and drink every day. The old man went hunting in the mountains every day, and no matter what he hunted, he cooked it all for Young Madam Ying. Young Madam Ying recovered quickly, but she was heartbroken and had no desire to live.
Who would have thought that the old geezer would force her to marry him, drag her into the wedding ceremony, force her to sleep with him, and even say that the red dress was pretty and that she should wear it every day.
The old man knew kung fu, and he was very skilled. Young Madam Ying was no match for him and could only be tossed around by him. She couldn't even die, and she had to serve him every day. Although the old man treated her well, Young Madam Ying didn't want to spend her whole life with him.
She pretended to compromise and used all her charm to coax the old man into teaching her kung fu. She was very patient, and this compromise lasted for five years. She was only sixteen when she was rescued by the old man, and five years later she was twenty-one.
The old man was very satisfied with her and taught her all his martial arts skills, thinking that they would live happily ever after. The old man even hoped that the young mistress would give him a big, healthy son.
However, the old man didn't get to see the chubby boy. Instead, he received a knife from Madam Ying in the middle of the night, beheading him. She had already learned all his skills and didn't need him anymore.
Young Madam Ying didn't go too far. She dug a hole and buried him, collected the old man's body, and then left the thatched hut where she had lived for five years, wearing a bright red wedding dress.
She wandered from place to place. Outsiders saw that she was all alone, beautiful, and dressed in a wedding gown, and they all thought that she had escaped from a great disaster in her family and had no one to rely on. Many people wanted to take advantage of her.
In the end, she naturally killed him. Along the way, she saw many refugees and passed through many disaster-stricken villages. She watched the villagers wailing and crying, just as desperately as when her family was wiped out.
With nowhere to go and no idea what to do, she followed the villagers in a daze as they fled the famine. Wherever they went, she went too. She saw how those refugees initially fled with their children.
Later, when they were too hungry and had no food to eat, they saw people exchanging children to eat. The villagers then had the same idea. First, they exchanged their daughters for food, and when they were starving, they exchanged their sons as well. Unfortunately, they themselves still starved to death.
Along the way, Madam Ying carried a knife, and she would kill anyone who dared to lay a finger on her. When she was hungry, she would steal food from refugees. Later, when she could no longer steal food, she saw others exchanging food for food, so she snatched other people's children.
